    I got this after having T-Rex. It is much lighter nice feel and strap nice and flexible. I hate that the face is on lock all the time and only by pressing the button to unlock it. Nice if I can have it unlocked all the time like on T-Rex or with touch on screen twice to unlock it ( yes yes tried the feature to unlock on tap yes and not have to tap so hard to do so and still not unlocking). Also no REM in sleep like in t-rex. Why?! . Often connection is not automatically. Need WiFi connection to update not via the app like t-rex. I got 400 songs 2gb on the watch great. But but when doing workout it locks on workout Screem so cannot go to the music to go to next track or stop the track etc. That's bit annoying for me. The fitness info is amazing. It has 80 yes 80 sports mode. It's awesome. And data is phenomenal to T-Rex. I love the 4 button arrangements. As I wear on right wrist. Bit delight lag at times when swiping. I love the "quiet" face watch as can see sunrise and sunset and humidity details. I love I connect all data like t-Rex to Strava and save each workout to share to those not on Strava via wassup. As serious fitness watch it's awesome. My funds have the Garmin Venu. It's superior only by having oxygen saturation and respiration rate and that at continuous ( good to see if sleep aponea) but didn't have music 2gb space nor has barometer and compass. Only gripe for me for this amazfit flagship watch is no REM sleep, no stress and my vo2 max is zero all the time on app and watch. This is bizarre. I get training load and training effect on app and recovery only on app. GPS is very very accurate despite others in Amazon reviewer say otherwise. I know in China version has stress levels and REM sleep. Why not for international version? And need to get oxygen level as I think vo2 max is more accurate with oxygen saturation in the equation to just heart rate. For £110 I was fortunate to get it brand new with 6 spare assorted colours straps is good bargain to Garmin Venu music edition my got for £220. Can't go wrong with that being but factor for me to choose amazfit. I find support via the app to send feedback issues silence from amazfit which I did for t-red about heart rate on app differs to the watch for the same time taken.. And the strap cameo green fading in couple days onwards! I also do not know why every watch has unique charger. Need to get them to work in a universal charger. 4 pins for this watch and for t-red is 2 pounds!

    Nice review! When you're running do you think the current pace reading is accurate? I owned an Amazfit Pace before and found that the current pace reading was some kind of average of the past 30 seconds and was also really inaccurate, meaning I just relied on the average pace reading.

    16:07 not only music but such data as gps tracks for further activities; apk's; maps. This watch has modified android 5.2; 512MB ram; ~300mAh accu. Unfortunatelly it has a week processor and freezing interface but there IS some apks for this watch (and Amazfit Pace) in the internet.

    Great review Donavan. Can you tell me if this watch has a time and/or distance alert i.e. an audible tone or vibration buzz to the wrist to indicate predetermined time periods or distance (laps). My TomTom runner does, and it is a very handy feature.

  • @creative_expressionproductions

    Is there anyway to add a golf GPS app to the watch. That would instantly make this watch better than Garmin approach S60

  • @athanasiosxirogiannis9468

    Do you notice any issue with the heart rate glass so far?
    The Stratos 2 had a minor issue with the sweat on my wrist. and after 2 years it finally blew it out cause of humidity of my sweat..

      I’ve only run with it twice now, but so far it has been just as expected. I’ve only used it on GPS + GLONASS mode, and in both runs it was within .01 of a mile from my Apple Watch. For instance, today (the second run with the Stratos 3) I went 10.01 miles according to the Stratos 3 and my Apple Watch (Series 5) had it at 10.03 miles. Personally I’m okay with a small variance like that. As for HR, on my Stratos 3 today it had the avg HR as 148, whereas the Apple Watch had it at 147. Again, for me that’s a very acceptable difference. I’ll do 5 more days of running with it before I plan to share my full review, but so far it’s been reliable for me.

      GPS has best accuracy and startspeed I've ever seen on different gadgets. GPS starts after 4-5sec; accuracy about 1-2 meter mostly thanks to sony chipset and plastic body -- way more better than Fenix 5x; comparable to Forerunner 945 with plastic body too.

      I used AmazFaces (an iPhone App). It was one of the watch faces available under “Pace/Stratos” I believe. Another way to get watch faces is to download them from websites like Amazfit Central and then transfer them to the watch through the charging cable. Would you be interested in seeing a video?

    Nice comparison! I noticed that the burned calories was very different. Any comments on that? Thanks!

    • @donavonhornbeck
      @donavonhornbeck  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, the Stratos 3 and the Apple Watch end up at the same or very similar burned calories for a day, but the Apple Watch seems to count them all during a workout, whereas the Stratos 3 seems to count the calories that you burn afterwards and less during the actual workout. For instance, yesterday my total burned calories on the Apple Watch was 1461, whereas on the Stratos 3 it was 1559. Part of the day my Apple Watch was charging though, so that probably explains the difference at the end of the day.

    • @andresperez495
      @andresperez495 Před 4 lety

      Thanks for that information. I thought it was gonna be off since I saw that the stratos 3 showed about 800 and the apple watch about 1100. It's interesting that they end up the same at the end of the day. Thanks!

      @@donavonhornbeck I was just about to pull the trigger on the Stratos 3 until I read this. I like to keep accurate and detailed records of my workouts. If the calorie count of the workout isn't accurately counted at time of workout then this is a bit concerning. I have been using a Polar watch with chest strap that has given me consistently accurate data. Can you tell me if you have continued to use the Stratos 3 and if individual workout calories stay close to the same for a known workout or are they all over the place. My Polar watch gives close to same calorie burn readings when compared to same workout i.e. chest day to chest day when all workout metrics are the same. (weight, sets, reps and duration)

      If you are a serious runner, I'd say go for the Stratos 3 (more running metrics, more customizable workouts, music storage directly on the watch), but if that's not you, then the GTR might be the way to go because it has a nicer looking screen and great battery life.

    • @donavonhornbeck
      @donavonhornbeck  Před 4 lety

      If you have a Android phone with music downloaded on it I believe you can transfer directly through the app, but with iOS the only option is to pull it from your computer, and yes, that is very 1998. I hope that soon they have a deal with a streaming service like Amazon Music, Spotify, and I'd even settle for Deezer :)
