If Will wants to quit, a guy that can buy the best trainers, workout friends and the best equipment, imagine what the everyday guy goes through to meet their goals.
Granted he's an overachiever and multitasking more than neccessary.
@@thebossrayden agreed. its better to put 100% into 1 thing, than 20 or 30% into multiple things.
@lzzey23 the difference is that one can afford to while the other not. Either way it's all in your hands. One certain truth though it's ok to fail but keep going never stop, things will turn out good at some point just believe it. In other words don't let your failures define you but make them your stepping stones, because you will fail at some point.
@@dominicdaley5702 The truth in that resonates a lot with me
Will has not quit, he is saying he quits to build up more anticipation for the next episode and hopefully more book sales.
For me will basically said at the end is
He’s done with filming “The best shape of my life”
But he’s still in pursuit to get “The best shape of his life”
Cameras were just becoming a distraction and a extra job. He just wants to work on the book and workout . Keeping it simple without film production . I feel it . I love it . And thank you for still providing us with 4 episodes of this journey. Shout out to will
I have a feeling there will he an episode 5, at least.
exactly! I loved it too :)
@@melodramatic7904 it says in the description when the next two episodes come out
yea i deffo have a suspicion the crew kept filming informally, without him knowing, so as to keep his mind at rest
There are two more episodes in this series. It says so in the description.
I love how Will is showing the struggle of making a finished product. We always see the end result but never really see the heartache, the pain, and exhaustion from the process. To see the true work ethic and dedication to make sure you finish what you start
In other words, people see the glory but don't see the story.
I just realized something...this series is not really about Will losing weight and getting into the best physical shape of his life. I think he can do that easily, he has support and resources. This series is about him ascending into the best "shape" psychologically. It's about doing the internal work that is so damn hard to do. The intrinsic impact the external....this is what its all about.
Its neither, its one big marketing tool for his new book
@@josefbittman6558 Yesssssss, so true. But why did this comment ignite a burst of laughter in me? 😄

You almost didn't watch? You mean you did?
The fact that he is untouched-up, no beard dye, thin spot in the hair. This is the most true he has ever been. I'm proud of him for being his whole self for the whole world to see. Gives me hope.
Maybe, but I'd prefer something less produced. Don't really feel I get to know him, watching these videos. Sorry.
Will and I have different versions of struggling. Watching him with his nutritionist, personal trainer, friends, free time, trips to Dubai, just dedicated to losing weight and writing a book is a dream in my opinion. Gets in shape, makes money off recording it, makes money off the book. Average person doesn't have any of that. Works their 8-5, raises the family, and struggles to find time to meal prep and workout. Hes choosing to write a book, he doesn't have to write a book. But yeah, I'm super proud of him for getting to where he is and still finding ways to challenge himself.
We have first world problems. The problems Will has make our first world problems seem like third world problems. But, nevertheless, he still has problems and challenges to overcome.
@@WidebodyLotty definitely agree.
You can’t be serious. Will Smith has a lot of commitments and people pulling him at different directions with very little sleep. He has a ton of pressure. The man is living the life that would crack any dude
@@ishmael802 I never said he didn't have struggles. I said his are on a different level because his are just by choice. I have to wake up and go to work to put food on my table. He chooses to work to keep putting more money in the bank. His pressure is self imposed pressure to succeed where most commoners pressure is to just survive and pay their bills.
@Frank Deckard To be honest. But thing is people in the entertainment industry are paid based upon influence if that makes sense.
Strangely therapeutic. I guess seeing the impossibly energetic Will Smith exhausted makes me feel better about struggling myself. And of course, Will knows this - that's why he's being so honest. Inspiring.
Same 💞
They should have put him on a vegan high carb hole foods diet. That would have done the weight loss job and suited him more.
The nutritional aspect could've been alot better I'm surprised with all his money and connections they screwed they part up so bad
I literally said the same thing! Seeing him exhausted makes me feel better about my own struggles
💯
I'm buying this book, if this series is just a glimpse into him I'm sold. Raw. Authentic. Honest. Flawed. This is one of the better documentaries of a super famous person I have ever seen. Keep it up Will, forget the weight loss, being this vulnerable and letting everyone see it is truly inspiring!!
I have already ordered it. My only doubt is regarding the choice of collaboration with Mark Manson. I don't know if he can collaborate on something like a memoir or biography. I feel like Mark is more like a self help blog/article/book guy. And that's not what I am expecting this book to be. I really hope I am wrong though. I love Will Smith.
czcams.com/video/lcDgMtvGY8U/video.html
I’ve downloaded it as an audio book. With Will narrating it adds a different kind of depth.
@@platput I just read the first chapter, and it was nearly all Will recounting events from his life, and talking about his parents. While there's certainly a life lesson amongst the stories, I'd say that's a small part. I don't think you'll be disappointed. But, as I said, that was just Chapter One.

This is one of the best series i've seen. Will seems to be so vulnerable and transparent and I absolutely respect that. Gods word says, "For when I am weak, then I am strong." And that's what makes this so compelling for me as I watch. He may be very successful and all that but he is still human like all of us.

Very interesting. I notice that Will usually predicts that something is going to be terrible before he tries. I wonder if that is his way of setting low expectations so he won’t be disappointed on failing on the first try. May be his way of coping with failure to then say “I knew it” instead of accepting the fact that he simply did not perform well in that specific moment.
This means something to HIM. He doesn’t have to do this with an audience. He could write his book at a more leisurely pace and work on his inside and outside with zero pressure and eyes watching. Something else is at work here. It’s excruciating to watch. Best to you as you do this hard work, Will.

He created the show just as a motivator for him to loss weight and finish his autobiography. I’m sure he pretty much accomplished those goals.
Let's give some credit to Will's team! The fact they were right there with him through it all! Have to have a good, strong support system. You can't do it all alone! 💕
And people do this while having a full time job and life with no help. Really makes you put everything into perspective. Humbling and a pleasure to witness. Thanks will
He is simply not motivated enough, you can see it in his eyes. Nobody can give you motivation but you alone. It’s hard to see him masking pain with humor, kinda reminds me of Robbin Williams :(
I agree. This made me a little concerned about him.
I though exactly the same thing. Strong signs of depression there. I'm on a similar mission and not much younger than him. I can't afford all the fancy trainers, and having the right foods just handed to me. I train from home because I can't afford a gym membership. I'm around 4 weeks from achieving my goal, and every week I get more and more motivated to succeed. It's all in the head.
what struck me is his “self talk”.
We all have this - I’m in it right now and when the negative comes up I immediately say mind over matter and push!
Just happened on this video- need to go back to E1. He does look more in shape so that’s good for his health.
@@KingJasonthe1st Understand!
Curious what you’re using at home because i’m not a gym rat right now either…
@@planetwalker798 Nothing fancy, just a bench press with straight bar, 3 different sets of dumbells, and a EZ bar. Oh, and a pullup bar I made and mounted outside. Can do 90% of the exercises I used to in a gym. :)
Honestly I think his energy was split, the cameras, the scale... weighing himself everyday produced too much anxiety (it's too much pressure on the body). He is not quitting he is now taking a different approach which I believe will yield better results. I am actually proud that he put himself first and not the production and people pleasing etc.
He is human not supernatural
I may be old school here but I’m trying to find understanding…. If you set out and commit to something , especially of this magnitude as far as production, crew, and everyone he’s taking on this journey with him, don’t you think you’re a little indebted to these people to fulfill those commitments? Like none of them would be here if you didn’t start. And once you start you have to finish. I live by Kobe’s words when he said “rest at the end, not in the middle” after 20 weeks, you can take allllllll the time you want to yourself, but you made a COMMITMENT to yourself and more so the people around you and to let allll of those people down is extremely selfish in my opinion. At some point we all must submit to something greater then ourselves I feel. Like I said I’m old school. Just trying to understand it….
Too many weigh-ins.
@@davidalford5889 In my opinion, if you can find a healthier way to fullfill your commitment to yourself and to others, then better do that. Is normal to stop mid way and then retake the journey. You never know, maybe after Will came honest with himself and the crew, he and the rest managed to find a way to finish things. After all, we still have two more episodes to see. Thank you for you comment.

the fact that im watching this for free on youtube is amazing. this broke the whole "never meet your idols" idea. this is humanizing and beautiful. thank you, Will. been a fan since fresh prince. many of your scenes made a grown man cry.
This all makes sense, especially after seeing the Today show interview. I worked with you (Will) for 'The Jump' and meeting you was like meeting every role you'd ever played, in one person, something I even mentioned to my father whose a big fan of the characters you play... makes sense because I was meeting "Will Smith" not YOU. Really great stuff I cannot wait to read the book.
Will didn't have to put this pressure on himself...he can cut the weight whenever.
The issue was always writing the book. He didn't have the motivation for it,
This series is basically another book
He can get everything done, no problem. But the time limit he sets for himself....he puts on so much unnecessary pressure. But I mean, I get it, that's his personality and he needed a time limit to set for his goal. But tackling two things is A LOT! Especially when one is mental and one is physical. It was like he was training to be a Navy Seal. Can't wait to read his book though! I love how real Will and his family is. ❤️
I think that's what motivational videos try to make us believe that the sky is the limit lol but doesn't tell us the trade off, or want us to believe that trade off is a choice 😆

Watching right now and at his weigh-in, what I notice is that Will's body recomposition is going great. Not only is he 20 pounds down from that 226-pound high he had before he started, but he's packed on significant muscle and cut fat a ton. So whatever happens this episode, he's doing solid work.
Right, with all the money he has, I can't get why he's not measuring progress using far better methods. I guess the simple weight number is best for the show.
@@joejoe04 Yes, it doesn’t make any sense to go by weight instead of inches when his hard workouts yield a lot of muscle. The 20lbs had to be for the show.

I just finished reading Will Smith’s book then started watching these videos. His whole life he has struggled with saying no and taking on too much. He has been working on his mental so I am very proud of him for saying no, even though it must’ve been very difficult for him to do.
You can definitely tell the mental toll it was taking. He made the right choice for his mental health, he is looking great, chasing numbers isn't healthy because even when you have hit some incredible milestones you still never get that winning feeling because you know there is more to come.
Yeah...no. Will doesn't have the drive to push through so he's rationalizing a way to stop spinelessly. Chasing numbers is a journey onto itself that can show a man he's capable of more than he thought he was and then some. It's remarkably empowering but without the mindset it's easy to flake like Will did. Iron forges iron but some people have wills of clay.
@@stoiccrane4259 I'm not wanting to get into an argument about it but all I will say that this is a really bad take especially when you look at the entire process of him writing the book and the person journey he has been on
@@novaxela So in essence the entire video "series" was just so he can promote a stupid book under the guise of improving his physique? Such a better take..
@@stoiccrane4259 no He realised he wasn't in a good mental or physical sense, on the surface it seems like it is all about his physique but really its about him learning more about himself, improving realationships with the people around him by being honest about his past, writing a book that helps him come to terms and let go of stuff that happened in his past to make a better version of himself, one where he doesn't entertain and hide how he is feeling by jumping in front of a camera. i guess that was part of the idea behind this whole PR stunt.
Being vulnerable is challenging. Will talks about his childhood as if he was a child soldier, because that is the way his father framed it, but it sounds like he was abused. Sadly, he either doesn’t know it, people have danced around it and avoided directly calling it what it was, or he’s in denial. I can only imagine how any of the above had and continues to have an impact on his personal development, relationships, and overall life (in public and more importantly in private)! I hope he has a safe place to just be and to release his real thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
I truly empathize with what he knows, what he doesn’t know, and where he is yet to go. I wish him healing and wellness!
Partially I agree his father was in the Military so the perspective was justified and his experiences shaped how he parented because he probably felt Will didn’t have the luxury of just being a child like most inner city children
when you've been abused as a child, by a parent (or at times, both parents) or anybody else for that matter (i.e. being bullied at school as a kid for being different), whether it's mental, physical or a bit of both, that sticks with you. Forever. It's hard to break out of the shell of allowing it to define who you are, even if deep down, you know you don't want to be that person who is defined bc of the abuse - but that awesome person who you really are. You have to be strong (and trust me, it IS hard - for ANYBODY) and push forward every day and show the world who you are, instead of letting the abuse define you. Once you break out of that shell of letting the abuse define who you are, that is when the good days begin IMHO. Sure, you'll have bad days here and there - or need to take a break, but never let the breaks be permanent, or you'll fall back into the rut of being just that person who was abused as a child and let that be the only thing that defines you.
He clearly said in this episode he was beaten aka abused..
@@14BlackGoddess Ummm, describing what was done doesn’t mean you know that it was abuse. In the African American community and in Black Churches being beaten isn’t often seen as abuse. Just like some people say that couple has problems or issues when in some cases they are actually dealing with domestic violence/intimate person violence. What we call things make a difference legally but also helps victims/survivors understand the severity of the issues and in many cases helps in the healing process when what they experience isn’t minimized, trivialized, or treated like a cultural/gender right if passage!

Gaining weight sucks. I definitely understand how hard it can be physically especially MENTALLY if you've always been in great shape your whole life. I gained 30lbs of covid weight after the gyms closed down. He was burning at both ends of the candle and realized he is human just like the rest of us.
proof that not even celebrity trainers know what they're doing: waking Will up with little sleep, having him do cardio and multiple workouts everyday. His cortisol levels must be through the roof. What a joke. All he had to do was put himself in a mild calorie deficit and workout 3 times a week max and just chill the rest of the time. But ofc, the personal trainer needs to justify his pay and Will needed content for this video series.
Exactly, and with the weight training, his weight might be plateauing, but he might still be losing fat and gaining muscle.
For real! His exercise routine was unnecessary hard. Could have been so much easier. I really don't know what his trainer was thinking...

I wanna do that obstacle course so badly! Keep up the good work Will. You'll make your mark! And if not, try harder! Its inspiring seeing someone who has it all, still being human.
I hope this isn’t the end. You are one of my heroes and have been since I was a kid. This whole series has been inspiring but man when I’m next in the gym and pushing the boundaries I will remember that not even my childhood hero could conquer these things that I’m about to conquer. Seeing you fail hurts but it only pushes me more to succeed for myself. Please don’t end it like this brother Will. Feel the fire and hunger and bounce back my brother!
This whole series is filmed in advance… two more episodes.
@@tomeglinton9213 yes! I didn’t know this😂can’t wait to see them

Will smitch died today -https: //czcams.com/video/32arY5R0_88/video.html
When I see him struggling with some of these physical exercises... I often forget that this is a man who's over 50 years of age. For that age... he's actually in GREAT shape!
This series is absolutely magic!! More of this please. 🔥💪
What a guy!! What a mind!! What dedication!! This is a superstar, not just in the movies but in reality. Waiting to read the memoir that's sitting on my shelf. Love you Mr. Will.
This is a whole gold mine of an experience. Tragic, sad, inspiring, introspective, rich, empowering...man. Thank you for this.

I hated seeing him so tired. When they were at that boot camp thing, he was smiling but you could tell that he was so annoyed with the whole thing and wanted to sleep. At the end he was just over it. It's incredible that he's letting us see this side of him
I love your name Mazvita. It's my favorite name
He is human
Yeah when they went to that police obstacle facility you could tell he was already tired...he didn't approach any of the obstacles with any enthusiasm...he didn't want to be there.
These episodes are just like a miracle. A prayer answered. A new stepping stone to life. Live life. X
Just as human as anyone else! It is OK not to be OK... You are my inspiration. Te abrazo!
I am noticing that a lot of the greats, the ones that have inspired me at least, in the entertainment world specifically, have this struggle with perfection. James Brown, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Will Smith, Viola Davis, and SO many more… They were taught it. They fight with it. They enjoy it. They hate it. It’s so complex. I always love learning about it, but almost always never seen someone actually remain healthy (mentally) after it.
I’m so sad that ends this way, but I know you will!! You’ll get back on truck ASAP I know!!!
I’m back in the gym because this show.
There’s 6 parts in this show, this is only part 4
Don't let a show motivate you to go to the gym, cause what when the show ends ? you will watch it over and over and over like a robot to stay motivated ? Eventually you will got bored of it, and lose motivation... Let YOUR goal be your motivation, your progress (current or one from the past), not Will's or anyone else's goal...
@@DJSickey what? no. let a show be your motivation to start going to the gym, but the show being the only motivation for you to keep going to the gym wont be healthy. getting other motivations to continue is healthy.
Good to know you're not sitting on all that pizza ^^
Lol
Will you dont know how much you motivate people who watch your videos .i was on a healthy journey and hit a lil snag in the road.watching your videos have made me take a look at myself and wanna be a better me again .thank you for sharing this journey and i wish you nothing but blessings and postive light.Smile and believe in your self.Keep doing great works We are hear to support you and are on this journey with you.❤❤❤❤💪🏾
for someone who preaches about ALWAYS finishing the mission... He sure quits a lot... and NO ONE is afrade t stand up to him and push him when he starts to self sabatage... Part of being this mans frinds is being honest back at him.The way he talk to himself really makes me econd guess how i talk to myself. Only love and support to you WS for showing your humanity.
This has taught me that even people as gregarious and fun as Will have a breaking point, this documentary has been really inspiring, but in a realistic way.
This is so refreshing and therapeutic to see you being human with all the colors that that brings, all the struggles that we go trough, and in a way it makes me feel safe in my own struggles. Thank you will and will's crew for this.
Thank you! Your perseverance and ambition, combined with your struggle and doubt, and failure, makes me see more perspective: it's not just me who is just fed up of pushing herself, its human, it's common even for the superhuman (and with that I mean you). Endless respect for you to show your journey so open and vulnerable, it shows more about your character than you could have ever done before! #ledgend #norobot #human
we forget that behind that "actor" we have a human. They feel, they hurt they are simply living what WE all call LIFE❤️
I really appreciate WILL to take his time and share this highly personal experience. It only proves one more time that no matter how rich or popular, you are a human being with lots of emotions and feelings. And I'm impressed how far Will has gone with this. I have never seen that kind of dedication and restless attitude towards oneself.
We love you, brother.
I know you will never see this comment, but it doesn't matter.
And we love you not because of how funny or cool or persistent you are but just because you are. Glad to live with you on one planet)

And, he might see it. 😊
The scale must not mean everything because he looks like he’s made huge progress!
Exactly, he looks more muscular than before.
I don’t understand why they went by weight instead of inches. I think they decided on 20lbs because it sounds better for the series.
For someone that doesn’t work out and just cuts calories, going by weight works. But Will is doing hard workouts that build lots of muscle. So you can be the same weight as before but be much smaller sized and toned.
@@BbGun-lw5vi yeah he wasn't obese or anything, they should focus more on his muscle and strength gains
Fax looks great in was saying the same thing watching
When you work out and are on a calorie deficit because your are trying to lose weight you can never trust the scale due to factors like muscle growth . Muscle weighs more than fat that is why he probably gained some weight when he went on the scale.
Emphasis should be on shape instead of weight. Concentrate on muscle gain and fat burn. This means that his weight would stay the same but he will be getting into better shape.
Inspirational on so many levels. Always been a fan and always will be!. Keep fighting Will we're with you in spirit!
I find myself at a similar point like Will. I was out of shape and depressed due to issues outside of my control in August. I had a thesis to write that I kept putting off. I would sometimes fantasise of what my life would be like to complete these tasks and moths flew by. Similarly in my personal life I would day dream hopping someone I cared about would care for me the same way without me expressing it. At some points reality seemed too harsh to face. I am at a point now where i'm at week 7 of my strength training programme with 5 more weeks to go. My thesis hand up is in January and Ive got 3 more chapter to write with MAJOR edits to complete. I haven't told the person how I really feel yet. I am not there yet but I am on my way. God knows I cant give up now...
Never stop pushing bro!
You were having trouble with August too, huh.
I love how transparent and authentic this is. Its like the Will Smith is being stripped away and now we are seeing the Real Will.
This guy has a nutritionist a psychiatrist, trainers, money, friends…imagine the person that achieves this without any of that!!
Everybody has these people around them but not in the way of Will.
@@lennard5393 No we don't. You're speaking from privilege.
You’re probably thinking of David Goggins.
@@grega3611 now that you say it maybe.
Amazing book. Thank you for your transparency and congrats on your breakthrough... catharsis is amazing!
this man has no business blessing us with content back to back like this
As a therapist I can so see through his anger. I really respect his courage in telling his story.
Love you Will, Jada and the family!❤️
Will: where is Scoty when you need him?
I felt that, I felt Scoty's absence too. He doesn't say much but his presence fills the room.
He is the only one that doesn't have a major role who is with him. Others are introduced as Will's personal trainer, Will's assistant, Will's therapist but Scoty is simply Will's friend.
He just got deleted by some reckless driving. Lol
I was saying the same thing to myself. Scoty's my man, he's definitely a good friend to Will.
Solid Will power! Why would you be realistic? Go above and beyond, set your goals and dreams high. Once again, thank you Will for taking us on this journey!
I feel like we are really getting down to deep parts of what pain is when you are successful. This series shows that we are all not that different and we all have our own demons to slay.
If you asked 10 year old me to assess the current me, they'd say I am very successful. But I feel constant imposter syndrome, I miss the feeling of being on top of all of my work, compliments on my work mean little to me... and when he said "I don't want to do any of this," I know exactly how he felt. There are things I've done that felt so secondary to what I actually wanted to do. I powered through some of them but my mental health suffered greatly.
I'm no Will Smith, but even pursuing your passions can get muddled by secondary goals and considerations. Sometimes you just gotta shave off the things that don't matter as much.
These episodes are really amazing. I feel identified with will's personality and just bought the book to know more about his story
This series to me has never made you look more humane, seeing one of the greatest actors and source of inspiration be so human is eye opening. Being raised by a TV set you only get to see the fantasy of it all, but with this an the booking is like breaking down that 4th wall.🖤🖤
I love the fact that he feels his best when he fit and in shape. He has everything yet he still focuses on the one thing that he believes separates the winners and the losers. Hitting the gym is not easy for any of us but some of us don't settle for easy.
I felt the trainer also going through this emotional exhaustion, you could see it in his eyes and body. It must have been really gruelling journey for all
I think this weight loss goal was an avoidance mechanism for dealing with the real and scary emotions and vulnerability he was navigating from writing. But in the end he just exhausted himself both emotionally and physically everyday. It’s not sustainable. Losing 20 pounds is not climbing mt Everest and he knows that, but that is not the only thing he’s doing here. I love his honesty and boundary setting.
Powerful journey. Inspiring. Love the peace and love made with DADDIO, etc. Thank you WILL. (Getting your book now).
32YO female here. I always really identified with you as a kid while watching Fresh Prince. Hearing about your life helps me understand why I always felt so connected to your public persona. We have a lot of similarities in our developmental years and it's really interesting to see different real life manifestations of certain lessons, coping mechanisms, etc learned in childhood. Thanks so much for sharing about your life and opening up as much as you have! There aren't many stars I'd actually like to sit down and just talk over coffee, but you've always been one of them. I'll settle for reading your book though :).
Really admire this man. Not sure why he’s put so much pressure on himself to do a show on top of everything else. I wish him only peace & happiness ❤️
I understand this on allllllllll levels! This is comforting to know if Will feels likes this- I am not a failure! Sometimes being public about it is not the best thing for you mentally- do that ish quietly and work on self!
I know you probably won't ever see this, Will, but I know many of us like you not just because you're an entertainer, but you SEEM to be an entertainer who has wisdom and empathy for others. You just SEEM like such a good guy... whatever that might mean to you.
