- A brief outline of the life and reign of King Edward VIII, 1937-abdicated December 1936, in under 7 minutes.
For further in depth knowledge on king Edward VIII, I can highly recommend the book by Phillip Ziegler.

Controversial, to be sure. But at least he had the decency to acknowledge that attending the coronation would not be appropriate under the circumstances. Unlike some other people we know nowadays.
Very true, at least he kept his dignity
……he had no choice. KGVI told him NOT to……
It's history repeating itself with Harry. Only that Harry is not have the decency to acknowledge that his presence would be awkward.
100 percent agree. History repeat itself indeed.
My Dad, a WWII British Army veteran, always said if Edward became King we would be speaking German because of his leanings toward Hitler and Wallis had leanings also.
Yes you could well be right!
I find it amazing that Edward couldn't become king because of his wife's divorces, but KING CHARLES, THIS WAS OK.
Conspiracy says, he couldn’t become King if he married Wallace was a coverup. The real reason was his views and support on the Nazi.
Then you have t understood the reasons, which I find amazing given the amount of knowledge about these two which has been covered by many creditable authors and which you have failed to grasp.
Why do all these royals have so many first names?
……because they can……
Because of this abdication and the problems the royal family and the British nation had to face then, princess Margaret could not get married to her perfect match, Townsend....
3:30, Edward's relationship with Hitler.
Based on everything I've read and seen, i believe his abdication was a good thing.
Edward was eldest child and eldest son of George and Mary
What a contradiction! A religion that began because a king wanted to divorce and then this same religion becoming intolerant of divorce 🙄 unless the reason for Edward VII had more to do with his political sympathy for Hitler and if that’s the case, then the UK should be very grateful to Wallis who, I understand, didn’t really want to marry Edward. He pushed her to do so whan he mentioned her in his abdication speech.
