Football fans have a romantic affection for this player like perhaps no other. Atletico fans worship him, Liverpool fans adored him, and Chelsea fans supported him through his toughest moments. I think it’s because his career, with all its high and lows, was much more relatable than the robotic success the likes of Messi and Ronaldo have achieved. On his day, he was one of the best players of his generation. But he was just as humanly fallible, be it due to physical injury or mental confidence. Most importantly however, his passion for the game and the teams he played for always showed through his performances. You could see that he cared because his performances, good or bad, affected him so much. And he was a big match player, capable of producing magical moments and scoring decisive goals on the biggest of stages. Football will remember El Nino.

I felt exactly the same and you know why we both plus many others felt like this. Its because torres at Liverpool was unbelievable and up there with the best in the world and when he came to Chelsea and things didn't start to fire for a while, we all prayed for him to get that first goal and when he did I think the majority of the footballing world went crazy for him and then everyone new what was gonna come, goals from all sorts of areas on the pitch with both feet and wow torres was superb at scoring with his head and from then on I just hoped so much that torres would score every time I watched Chelsea. This guy scored some very important goals, plus he always gave 100% on the pitch. When he scored I was so happy to see one of the all time greats doing what he does best, and my favorite was against Barcelona because of the importance of the goal and when it hit the net he ran over to the barca fans and they was going absolutely crazy.
