Oracle is one of the biggest tech companies in the world with a market cap of nearly $250 billion. Though Oracle is a staple within the tech world, most of the public has never heard about Oracle in their life. This isn't too surprising as Oracle's entire customers base is made up of other companies. Since 1977, Oracle has been providing database solutions to not only tech companies but all sorts of companies from retail chains to airlines. In fact, it's pretty difficult to find a company that has never used Oracle throughout its history. Everyone from Apple, Facebook, Amazon, and Google to Walmart, Netflix, Jet Blue, and Dell have used Oracle. Oracle is also used by universities, governments, and various organizations around the world. This video explains the story of Oracle and how Larry Ellison built up a massive fortune of $113 billion.

Comparing Facebook active users to Oracle customers seems like apples and oranges. One Oracle customer might represent hundreds to hundreds of thousands of users depending on the product.
True, but the hundreds of thousands of end users aren't even aware of Oracle's role. Oracle is clearly more of a b2b business than a consumer business. That would be like saying Boeing has billions of customers because billions of people ride their planes annually. In reality, Boeing's customers base is just a a few dozen airlines.
@@LogicallyAnswered Facebook users cannot be equivalent to Oracle customers.
Advertisers on Facebook would be a better fit.

Highly inspiring. 🥰💯
Facebook is a customer of Oracle and not long ago so was Amazon
Short version: Built a software company for Fortune 500 companies that charges ridiculous licensing fees and makes it very difficult to move away from.
You mean build a software that nobody can replicate with the extensiveness that no other billion dollar company can
Another example of this is Bloomberg .
Sounds like a monopoly or government assisted like mostly all billionaires do not surprising if he avoid taxes as well. Can't even trust tech billionaires nowadays.

I had been tracking Oracle's journey since 1998, when I joined a course in RDBMS.. and I have this inclination.
My university was heavy on Oracle systems. We used Oracle dbms, Java was the major language of choice we were taught, etc.
Well there may only be 430.000 customers but BILLIONS of users.
True, but Oracle is more of a b2b business than a consumer business. So, I think 430,000 is the more accurate figure. The billions of users are simply end users who aren't even aware of Oracle's role.
@@LogicallyAnswered Not to be rude but you are the one who compared b2b to a b2c company. I know it is for the video but you should expect a comments like this :)

So for Facebook, I am only worth 346 dollars.....nice to hear that.

You're overpriced
That's more than me
Let's actually be real here, Larry himself didn't make and carry Oracle as much as this video suggests, it's arguable he even held an important role in all of this at the time of the founding of Oracle, but since he helped come up with a concept of it, you have to give him credit.
His superior for most of pre-oracle, Bob Miner wrote most of the code for Oracle and was the lead engineer, by himself. Bob had differences about the company's objective and went to form his own company and then died shortly after, leaving behind all of the plans in place for Larry and Ed to continue.
I feel like Larry, like most who get super billionaire rich are from a classic case of being at the right place at the right time, and profited heavily off of it.
I just don't like how this video portrays it as mostly Larry who carried the company, this is not the case at all, quite the opposite actually.
This isn't to say Larry doesn't do good things, I think most billionaires do because they have the money to do so. Spending $100million is like spending $1000 for them. It gives you an idea of the scale of the difference in money gap these billionaires have vs your average person.
Ofc he played a big part. Larry's thought processes did. He knew how to code too
That's pretty cheap saying he did nothing, from what former employees have said Larry is a hardcore manager that gives unrealistic objectives to his executives and there was a mentality of overachieving or get fired in the company, he was also a very well known socialite in the political and billionaire world, how he also attracted a lot of clients. Sure he wasn't a Steve Wozniak computer genius but he was a hustler and pushed the company to where it is today.
sounds like Tesla "dying" and Dr John Trump coming up with Tesla Patents for free energy
It's hard to believe that Larry is 77 years old.
Whoa
He looks better than some 50 year olds
Wait what! He is 77?

I’ve been watching these videos without being a subscriber, I apologize! Amazing.
It’s all in its name “”Oracle”” , how he became a billionaire , he had spells casted his way, he’s a warlock..
Wicca, this vividly illustrated oracle can put you in touch with the sacred gods and goddesses. His deity’s, The fallen angels granted his spells , for riches and wealth.
That’s how come he’s worth billions.
Hahaha
Bisa aja lu ndro
Silence you fool
Seems legit
The videos are good, but sometimes the creator just says ridiculous stuff!
"It wasn't like he was programming at the age of 12 or anything". He was 12 around the year 1956. The first microcomputer would not be invented until 1973. UNIVAC itself was just invented in 1951. Ofcourse you cannot expect him to start programming at that age. He was not born in the 2000s or even the 1970s.
Edit: Since I already wrote this, one more thing. The videos with 'Shadow' in the title make it sound very misleading (as if the creator is a conspiracy theorist). Don't get me wrong, the videos are informative and of a good quality.
Great video as always.
Can you make a video on Salesforce?

It's interesting how they say "to put it I perspective" and make a comparison with Facebook that totally puts it out of perspective if anything.
users of Facebook are not customers, they are the product
I guess you could say that given that the advertisers are the customers. But the example was just supposed to give perspective.
it's the wrong perspective though

Oracle charges heavy prices yes, but their product quality (especially the Oracle database) is top-notch, if not, the most advanced database in the entire world. I've programmed on both Oracle DB and Microsoft DB, M$ DB is very good, but Oracle is a step above that, in terms of raw performance.

How? I worked in their tech sales team and had a glimpse of this org culture. Bullying all the way from
the top down.. character assassination, reputation destruction, HR shaming and leaking your medical information to other people, fist fights and knife fights in the office. Not to mention employees who become couples who team up and form de facto institutions within the org.
Most of my friends in sales here developed heath problems working here. Mark Hurd also worked himself into the ground here too.
Products are great but this place is a 💩 storm to work at.

Oracle is very restrictive with their support content showing they don't want their deeper tech details to be available publically. If they open a bit, they can grow much more than now.
"Fortunately for them the CIA would give them a shot & become the company's first major customer"
*Sounds like something that can happen to anyone*
I first heard about Larry Ellison when he got outbid by Joe Lacob into buying the Golden State Warriors.
If he really wanted to buy the gsw, Joe Lacob could not have stood in his way. He only did it for fun and publicity. I read of a story where he bought all the houses around his residence because he said his neighbours were noisy and this was not a poor neighborhood either.
Dude it's databases, basically everything online uses oracle products in some way. So looking at market cap per customer and comparing that to facebook doesn't make any sense
One of Oracle's customer is Facebook who had customer over 2,89 billion.
Just count how many billions of Java run device on the planet that are made by Oracle...?

Do a vídeo about Marc benioff sales force
Thanks for the suggestion!
Salesforce is based on Oracle. In fact, it is very evident from the Apex programming language that is used to customize Salesforce.
Also Marc used to work at oracle as a sales executive at Oracle before starting Salesforce.
Dont know about americans but in my country anyone who has strudied grade 10 will know very well about oracle, as it is the standard RDBMS taught in schools
I'm sure these super rich people only declare 1/10 of their actual fortune.
The intro confuses users with customers. Oracle database runs some of the world's most integral systems, likely with billions of users. But the customers paying for the software will be far less. Facebook's revenue is generated from advertisers, not users so likely generating similar revenues per customer.
ONLY 430,000 so few!

How silly it's to compare a social media company with another that develops heterogeneous database systems for large business landscapes including the US Department of Defense. A few years back ORACLE acquired Micros-Fidelio, the largest hotel PMS (Opera) and POS (Micros) developer. Funny, ORACLE's own standard, this business is just a fraction.
Their business model was to lock you in with their database custom solutions, while charging heavy sums... Everyone who could has run away... Of course they are loaded, this strategy worked well for decades...
Spot on Oracles greed should not be celebrated. Uninspiring greedy cooperation.

So how are billionaires(who made their fortune in the SM) able to afford PJ, helicopters, mansions, penthouses, security, nd boats?
Well, the only way to become a billionaire is through assets whether that be stocks or real estate. So, most billionaires would need to liquidate some of their position to buy expensive things. They may also be able to get their company to pay for certain things like security and private jet trips. Another option is to borrow money against their assets.
