It's awesome how you can talk under the water
underrated comment xD
@Christian Brennan You are the reason shampoo bottles have instructions.
It a voice over
@Christian Brennanare u going to slow that
😂
Thank you for this! The internet needs more longboard POV's
ha ha, glad to add one to the collection🤙
I made my first one if you wanna check it out! Nothing special but a fun attempt. Just getting started with GoPro surf vids 🤘🏼
hey bro! i’m into it right now! check my last POV longboard video on my channel!
So smooth... Sometimes I get very stressed watching shortboards ripping waves! Hahahaha! Thank you. I will try to duck dive my 7'8".
Yah, give it a try. It does take some practice to get it right.
Florida surfer here, Im so grateful I grew up Surfing. To me it’s like Dancing for your Soul, and your partner is the Ocean. Such an amazing thing to do. Really enjoyed your VID ! 🤙🏻
Same here
I'm also from Fl and long board surfed a couple times. However I am from flagler county so I was always in the ocean, either relaxing or body surfing. I've got a great feel for how the atlantic and that area's waves pull and push. So it's pretty easy for me as far as timing is concerned. The ocean in a weird way has always been a friend. 🌊
Thanks for this video! It was one of the first videos where I didn't feel like I was being talked down to by someone with more experience than me! Really appreciate it!
I love my 8'4" and get twice as many waves as the shortboard guys where I live. I'm gonna work on the duck dive, haven't mastered that yet on the big board. Thanks for all the great videos.
I like you going back to doing at least some "how-to" videos like you used to do in the beginning while Atua & Ki'ili are gone.
Yah i plan on throwing a few more how -to vids in the mix.🤙
Fantastic! I was wondering about this as when on the 9'6", I roll the board after cresting a almost broken wave when paddling out so not to slap the nose down/stress the glass. Gonna try this next sesh. Thanks!
Great tips! Subscribed!
I’m 46 years old, 5’9” 150lbs. I’m not much into the short boarding since I was a kid. Took a long hiatus and I’m into my second season on 7’6”-9’0” boards. I love the bigger boards, more waves and I’m older now so I appreciate the ride much more.
But being of smaller stature It can be tough punching through at times. Definitely gonna follow your duck dive tips and practice while usually wasting time out in the lineup waiting for the next set! Hopefully this pandemic Lockdown will be over soon to catch the next swell! 🤙🏼
Wow!
Watching you ride a longboard was so satisfying keep up the good work and please create more longboard videos
Thanks, i will definitely do more
Yes, very satisfying!!🌊🏄👏
Cool vid man. The POV took me back in time when I use to surf. Good times! I would ride long boards when the surf was real small.
Thank you man, I just got this again but I watched before months ago. I implemented your side duckdive on my funboard and help me a lot ..really works , bests
Yeah good to see some variety. I move from a 6’0 to a 7’6 to a 9’1 depending on conditions and how I feel. An evening surf on a longboard is very calming.
Yah, high tide sunset glassy small waves. Great way to end the day.🤙
Sweet video! I came for the duck dive tips and stayed for the sweet POV wave catching 🏄🤙🏼
Long boards are the way forward. Got mine a few years ago. When the waves are small it's really good. When the waves are big it gets me in early. When the waves are medium size....... I don't want to change to a short board for just one surf now do I? So I just end up riding the log all the time. It's a slippery slope my friend. 🏄
Great video! I have a 9’ foam top for my first board and I was getting tossed trying to paddle through waves. Gotta work on these moves
Awesome instructive video! I built my own hollow wooden(6',6") and it's not super pointy. I struggle duck diving and everyone who sees board says it won't duck dive..I keep trying anyway:) Glad to know my efforts are not in vein, thanks!
Im A begginer And I stod Up First Time YesterDay I surf A 6'0 SoftBoard
Congraz!🤙
Its a good board too start i started like you One year ago and I still surf the same board , u can even do a proper duck dive if you practice well just push it as hard as you can! Good luck ! ✌️🤙
I'm curious how you're doing now! I'd say that a 6'0 softtop would make the first few weeks pretty hard, how is your surfing now?
Wow starting on a 6’0 is hard I started on 8’0
I started on a 6’0 soft top this year too lol. It was frustrating at first but I’ve been improving a ton recently.
Great tips especially the underwater leg turn. Many thanks from the cold waters of oregon
My Robert August 9'6 is the best board I've ever had. Love it. It's surfing heaven in all conditions.
Thanks for the tip. I used to duck dive my high volume 7'6" and thought I was through the back on a well over head cleanup wave and it picked me up and slammed me so hard that it snapped my board in 2. Been scared to duck dive long boards ever since.
Rob Peters ive been there, when its big I look around and find a channel where theres less ppl and if i need to ill check for anyone behind me and if im clear ill jump off, go under and yank the leash to straighten out the board and pull it thru so it doesnt get sucked over, but thats like 8ft plus clean up sets
@@tonycalifornia279as long as the leash doesn’t snap ...
Absolutely love your videos. Super chill and informational. Keep doin what youre doin!!!! Love from San Francisco
Yeah ....watchin at Ensenada Baja Cali....great video amigos....
Thanks for the tips! I am transitioning from riding my 5'6" twinny to an 8' soft top. I was like, "how the hell do I duck dive this beast?" Now I have something to work on! Pura Vida!
I love watching these go pro surfing videos subbed
Beenn waiting for this longboards tutorials and i love it
Cool🤙🤙, thanks
Thanks for posting this! It really helped me a lot.
Love longboarding. Great video.
What a cool video!!! Nice choice of music and great footage
Not only is logging fun but it’s a great way to smooth out your style and glide down some waves
Yah agreed. Great way for spazzy shortboarders to learn to slow it and flow it.
Love your videos! Keep up the great work!
That was a great little tutorial man good stuff
Longboards.... half the effort, twice the waves
they’re for beginners
Pine Tree not necessarily for beginners, but a short board definetly takes more experience and control than a longboard
and half the fun
Surfed for 54 years, still on a 6’6. long boards are like riding in a vintage truck, shorts boards like a sports car. If you can’t surf or thrown in the towel then go a long board
@@frankennis2947 can’t ride a 6’6 in all conditions. If it ankle to chest high ride a longboard, chest to overhead I’m on a fish. Anything bigger it’s the 7’10” for me. Point is the surf is usually in the longboard range where I live. And with the Covid surf boom in crowd I’m staying longer more often. That’s what I’ve learned after 35 years of surfing. But what do I know. PS no one follow my advice. I don’t want you catching more of my waves;)
Just got a 10”4 board can wait to try it
great video and style of video, nice, not cheezy :) Thanks for the tips
Your my fav CZcamsr you’ve inspired me so much over the years and I’ve gotten pretty good at shortboarding Caus of you 👋🏼🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
That is awesome, keep up the good work
Great chilled video👍 thank you
Thanks Mo'e. Where I surf the waves are rarely big enough for a short board. I thus mostly surf a 8', lately more a 7'3'' when the waves catch some more height, so I never learned to duck dive. I will probably try that longboard duck dive on my next session, and that out the back stretch also seems interesting for when you're waiting for the next good wave.
Yes, give it a try. 🤙🤙
This is so soothing and helpful
I liked that. Got a nice voice. Easy to listen to. Thanks for this video. Enjoyed it. Cool.
super chilled video, the cuts and sound is perfect! thanks for that.
out of curiosity though! how much volume is that longboard? and is there a max. volume for you, where you would skip the duck diving and just turtle roll instead?
thanks dude, I needed this!
Yeah nice vid mate. Nice looking bottom turns as well as some cool cuties. Right i’m off for a surf!!
I had 2 Webber Performer models 9'0 . Might have to get a new one. Nice video. 👍👍👍
wow, great tips
I really could have used that way back when
If I ever get back to the ocean, I'll be thinking of these tips
Brooo i got this bic 8'0 mini mal righ and its so hard to duckdive and get out the back (i been surfing for about a year now), absolute pain of a long board but when it catches a wave its so rewarding and fun, all the times ive caught waves and tried standing on ive found its been really unstable (mind you its supposed to be a 3fin settup but its missing two fins and the fin slots are custom i think bc i havent been able to get any for it), anyway i could stand up like half way on it post lockdown, about like kneeboarding kind of but not really
i got alot of memories with that board and even though i aint the best surfer, its still my favourite thing to do, i go surfing with a bunch of mates and one of them would tell me that when theyd turn back to look for me my board would always be 10ft in the air going vertical and then id come up gasping for air after a wipeout, shits fun
i recently bought my own board a 7s 6'6 Jetstream so I don't have to use my fathers boards and worry about getting them dinged up and such and i havent been able to take it out yet due to the weather here but i appreciate the tips in the video, i am going to keep switching between the two boards and see if i can improve on the 8'0. Must say tho that board is wild
Great vid, thank you. If not duck diving, what are most doing to get through?
Blessed to have such a nice beach out of the front door :-) hard to imagine as a landlocked surfer in Germany only surfing about a few weeks per year
Yah, very thankful to be able to make a life here
You could try to check out northern Germany coasts, especially the eastern one, according to the forecasts you could get up to 2m waves there with NW wind. It's not a single day trip from the middle of the country (looks like 3h drive) but it might be a good weekend trip. We're having almost the same conditions in Saint-Petersburg on Gulf of Finland and even Ladoga Lake, it's not ideal, but it's a way to have more than a couple weeks of surf every year so on a good day lineup is crowded :) Good luck with this! Cheers
Great stuff dude. Thanks
Good tip bro..muchas gracias !
Super helpful. Thank you!
Yo unks these videos are awesome keep um coming 😂🤙💯
Thanks, will do.
Great video and tips! You're speaking my language - long boards!
Right on, thanks!🤙
Great to see this. Please make some more tips for beginners. Thanks
Will do. Thanks
I'm subscriber #100000!!!
Great Lessons ! In deed people can learn in a easy way! i learn for my self at 30 years ago ! we dont have this ! Very cool !
The "Side slip" (as I call it) helps so much with all that extra buoyancy.
dude thank you exactly what I needed
Thanks great vid v helpful and great surfing
lovely stuff , thanks
Such an awesome video!
Thanks
Years of surfing and I have never managed to duck dive my long boards, so yes I'm down to try 🙂 thanks
Great video.
Thank you so much for this 👍
This seems really great, the bigger the board, the easier you catch waves and the faster you go on the wave. I think most people should buy a board with extra length, width and thickness. Surfing is not snowboarding, it’s not a board sliding on a flat surface, it’s first and foremost a boat that needs enough flotation. I once tried my friend’s intermediate board, a7’6 with a short board shape, well l caught waves like crazy and l covered a lot more terrain on the wave. Don’t know why it didn’t catch my attention to buy a much bigger board. Only now, 15 years later did this information connect in my head, lm so stupid.
Same story but with a 7'2 fun board....😕
@@natural_law hehe
actually works :-) I've practiced diving on the local lake with a 8'0/80L softboard. I'm pretty sure that it will work with the hardboard then as well:-)
Wow that’s a lot of volume, props to duck diving that even with the technique shown
great video, thanks
I swear by epoxy high performance longboards too. You were getting some nice hits on the whitewater in this video
Thanks for the info bro !!!!!
Could you please make a video showing on land how to do this. Tried this a few times, but i cant submerge my surfboard (its 65 liters and 7’8)
Try going a mid length quad, single to double concave, around 7'0 to 7'6. Good paddle in and manoeuvres better. Also easier to DD.
can you nose ride on a high performace longboard? I have a vintage 9'8 which is impossible to duck dive but its so stable that you can easily walk up and down. the downside is, when the surf is big its pretty hard to get out there .
Thanks for the video bro! This got me really interested in surfing and I can now say I understand the basic mechanics of how to do it. Time to give it a try! 🐱
Thanks. At 54 I and surfing sporadically I can't fide my short board anymore. Trying to figure out my next step to stay in the game. I rented a 7 foot softy today and it was tough sledding. Trying to figure out how I'm going to get thru sets and turn the thing is the challenge.
how's it going?
Chris, good seeing you out there. The knee is better, it appears.
Not a 100% but it works so i am happy
Always fun when a turtle roll ends with you almost getting knocked out only to realize that you're now on your belly riding the white water in
Thx this really helped I surf and this means alot
I'm a beginner and I'm using a 9 and 9'6, getting past the breaks are challenging.
your voice is so chill😂
Thank you bro!🤙🏻
Can u make a video on how to not get hung up on the wave. I keep losing speed and going over the wave on my turns
Next time i take out the shortboard and gopro i will try to remember to a vid on that.
How do you turn so well on a board like that I ride a 7 foot soft top and can barely turn into steep waves so I end up going strait or getting destroyed by the barrel.
hey idk if you still have a problem but you sit on the very back of the board
Yeah eventually figured it out lol but thanks. Sitting on the back of the board helped and so did bending my knees a lot more
Peter Barreca hope
your hitting the surf rn! surfs up
Hello I don’t know if your gonna see this but I have a question what is your very small and light and have a 7 ft board what do you do and is it easier or harder to catch a wave. HAVE A GREAT DAY BYEEE
This is soo good ❤️❤️
This was awesome
How heavy are ya man? Not surfed in 10 years but the water looked so good the other day I just gotta get back in but I'm a good 220lb these days. Was looking at 9' (ish) long boards... Do you think this is a good place to start off from?
more longboard vids!!
Great vid very informative,
thanks 🤙
Very helpful vid.
I can use duck dive on foamie board like 8” ? I have experienced my board flipped out of my hand and My body got throw out from the water when performing turtle roll. 🤢 try to figure if anyway to replace turtle roll
Wooooh thx bro btw ergere do you live
great video! now I want to get a longboard XD
Please upload more POVs! With the cruise music too haha
Will do. Its my favorite since i get to do my 2 favorite things. Surf + Film
Awesome. Where is this??
What if a big wave is approaching.. will you ditch the board and just swim under the wave?
Mine is only 6,6 but at times does get annoying to duck dive , thanks for the tips 🙏🏼
Yep, my pleasure. 🤙
sorry to aks, but how do you record the video, is it a mouth support?
I’m finding it really hard to push the back of my board down and I’m on a 5’10 thruster
Is this possible on a big floaty board like a wavestorm?
