I know what Meatball would do in a sandbox setting ... scritch, scratch, scritch. Don't let her in! S&C is such a beautiful book.
Meatball in a sandbox...
💩💩💩🕳️⛏️
It sure is! Thank you. Spread the word, share the video!
Dunno ..but being a crusader sacking the city of Mecca and burning Nazareth whilst selling slaves as a side hustle sounds pretty fucking wild. Running this with Mork Borg...I was impressed by the art, the layout, your flip through really got me hook Line and sunk dude. Getting it with the off road encounters for some alternative history Mork Borg style🤟👽🤟
Sounds good. Spread the word, share the video!
Although in a game setting where you have actual alignments that matter and actual miracles in play, I don’t think you’ll have as many part-time/hypocrite Christians as we had in real life. In fact, I doubt historical events could have ended up as they did in real life. I don’t think that any of the atrocities that Western Christians and Byzantine Christians committed in the Middle Ages would’ve been accomplished by a lawful good D&D-style Paladin (for example). Even in the Bible procurers (slavers) were an abomination.
Grim Jim?! Woah - that will be interesting to say the least!
Don't miss it!
Ordered. Hopefully it comes next week!
Thank you! Please let me know how you like it!
All of that is much further west than the silk road campaign I ran a few years ago. But getting into trouble was the theme.
The campaign is in early days, the potential goal is that they reach Jin China.
@@RPGPundit A long trip but bound to be interesting.
Plan on doing a source book for the Mongol Invasion? Always wanted to play a campaign vs. a massive invasion.
The timeline in Sword & Caravan already covers the various steps of the Mongol Invasion, from the start of it all the way to the fall of the Khwarazmian Empire. I add more details in my upcoming Heroes & Villains of the Silk Road.
So I don't think a sourcebook would be necessary, but I might possibly do some adventures set in that late period of the setting.
Oh man, I'll have to pick up Heroes & Villains of the Silk Road when it's available. Is there an estimated date on that?
Subbed. - Brian
Thank you very much!
Ordered a copy of this book, but I'm actually intending to adapt it into a Traveller setting.
Great idea!
Following up, my hardcover arrived today and it's beautiful. Haven't read it yet but just flipping through it thr art and layout look fantastic. I'm going to have to pick up Social Encounters Along the Silk Road next. Are there any others in the S&C series? (I already have Lion & Dragon, Dark Albion, Cults of Chaos, and the two Old School Companions: no kidding, these may be the most jam-packed with useful, playable content volumes in my quite large RPG collection.)
"...a very special episode of Inappropriate Characters..."
I'm a child of the 80s - when I hear "very special episode", I'm expecting a drug overdose or child endangerment scenario, like when Punky Brewster's friend Cherie got locked inside an old fridge.
LOL
I picked up Lion and Dark Albion a while back and found them excellent.
I'm curious if you have any thoughts on running a campaign in a more 100 Years War period? Not necessarily firearms period, but more circa Joan of Arc. Would these books achieve that? They seem more early medieval...
Lion & Dragon would be fine for the 100 years war, the only thing that would need to be removed are the firearms (or if you're starting at the very start of the war, the full plate).
😊👌

It bends history, but I've considered old school megadungeon campaigns in the Holy Land perhaps under Tyre or Jericho. I've read that archaeologists have found remains of 20 settlements at the site of Jericho. Sounds like an excuse for up to 20 dungeon levels and lost Canaanite treasure to loot.
Well there's certainly ruins, cave complexes, etc that you could use as historically authentic dungeon adventuring.
I spent many years studying history. This is definitely up my alley.
By the way, do you have any thoughts on the new Pendragon Starter Set?
I can't seem to get an opinion on it from anyone who isn't a shill or clearly Woke. Considering that it's from the Chaosium of today, I would assume the worst, but Greg Starfford's name is on it, so I don't know.
Greg Stafford is dead, and the lunatics have taken over the asylum. I think that just as with CoC, you're way better off with the excellent earlier editions. The one linked to the Great Pendragon Campaign (5th, I believe) was the one Greg thought of as his masterpiece and that reflected the type of Pendragon campaign he wanted.
@@RPGPunditFinding older editions of Pendragon seems to be quite difficult. Would you recommend Paladin?
In addition to Lion & Dragon, I am looking for something medieval-themed that is specifically related to the romanticized monarchs, such as Arthur and Charlemagne. This is why I'm curious about Paladin, a game I unfortunately know little about. I just saw it recommended in my search for Pendragon 5.2.
I haven't read Paladin.
@higgsmcgiggs just the Starter Set art tips you off it's gonna be woke as he'll. The drawing of the Round Table with multiple female knights...🫣🤣
Do you happen to have or know the whereabouts of the orders of battle of the various Frankish lords and Knightly orders who participated in the various Crusades? Without having to read through multiple books, I’d like to know how many troops they would’ve had with them at a particular time. I have a book “Arab Historians of the Crusades”, but the battle numbers are grossly exaggerated.
Well, reports aren't always clear, especially battle-by-battle. Accounts as you said vary and often feature exaggerations.
Can you play a Varagian or a soldier from Constantinople?
In theory you certainly can
14:05 they were to live among the frogmen?
My S&C campaign isn't set in "Albion", it's the more traditional version of medieval Europe.
10:30 Do you mean Richard I? You refer to him as Richard III (which would be Dark Albion) multiple times throughout the video.
Seriously? How stupid of me. Yes, I meant Lionheart.
He had Black Adder on the brain. 😉
More likely Dark Albion.
@Regent777 perhaps it was part of a cunning plan
@@RPGPundit I did say that in the comment.
I am running a Dark Albion game. The PCs are running around and doing all they can to make money. They are currently working for a noble, who will award the group some stewardship of land if they succeed. If that happens, the game will become a but of a hex crawl, as the PCs will have to tame the land. One of the PCs is of the knightly class. They would be undisputed rulers of this land, subject only to the lord of the land and the king.
Question for Pundit: Would thePC placed in charge of the land be called a sheriff or a bailiff? I'm trying to get my history correct.
It would depend on the size of the land. Assuming that it is a relatively small holding, it would be a bailiff.
@@RPGPundit Thank you. It is a small island, so I believe bailiff will be perfect. Thank you.
