      In the olympics only people should compete that represent the top of the world. Age doesnt matter. Its all about skill. She did not have the necessary skill. Her being good for a 36 year old untrained person is not good enough. She needs to be atleast of similar caliber than the other opponents. Yeah she certainly beats my mom. And yeah for 36 she is still somewhat nimble. However this is not good enough for the olympics.

    Some more context for people wondering how she even qualified.
    The World DanceSport Federation is the governing body responsible for overseeing the breaking competition in the Olympics. HOWEVER, the organisation specialises in ballroom dancing and only gained the rights to oversee the program when ballroom dancing was rejected for being “outdated.”
    Essentially we had a governing body that had zero idea, experience, and understanding on what makes a good break dancer; running global competitions to find the best break dancers, with officials that only have experience in ballroom dancing.
    Pretty much the sporting equivalent of paying your 12 year old sibling to code a AAA game cause you heard they can play Minecraft.
    EDIT: for people that are claiming that this post is “misinformation” this is information taken straight from Google. More specifically, FoxSport who were one of the media channels responsible for coverage of the Olympics in Australia. Historically, the issue above has been problematic since breakdancing was introduced in the Youth Olympics in 2018 and there have been many vocal opponents within the breaking community, against the addition of the sport for this very reason.

      oesn't mater. This is an art, not an athletic sport. Should not be in the Olympics. I understand the top of the top break-dancers are well versed in the craft, but its an art form that is much harder to score compared to javelin throw, "still rings", or straight up rugby or Basketball. It is very hard to do, but not an international sport that should be in the Olympics which is why it's getting clowned on. Anthony Ammirati is a good example of a serious sport that got memed aggressively during this Olympics but his sport is still taken seriously.

    • @Yangmang
      @Yangmang Před měsícem +31

      @@dillonhedgpeth9974 It's hard to score, but you can make the same argument for gymnastics or its other variations. You fail to recognize that breaking has been judged for decades. Judging art is a much bigger intellectual endevour than other activities that require simple scoring so the confusion is warranted. Lets use common sense, some pieces of art are better than others. What happens when the your piece is a response to an opponent and it is a lot better in certain criteria. You judge. Breaking is highly competitive, and has been judged for decades. You make it sound like the Olympics invented all this. Breaking thrives with or without the olympics, there are bigger competitions and the talent pool has grown worldwide. Also SHE got memed, the winners were well received by their countries. Some people hate because its easier to remain ignorant than to learn something that breaks off their preconceived ideas of what is a sport and what is athletic. But Breaking continues to grow and remain strong.

    • @GaogaoSenpaisaurus
      @GaogaoSenpaisaurus Před 27 dny +16

      I'm sorry that your country got cheated in all this. The reason that she was even able to compete is because she rigged the Australian qualifiers. RayGun runs the company that was tasked with locating breakdancing talent, and headed up the committee. Then she got her husband (also on the committee) in as one of the judges for the qualifiers, as well as members from the (already salty) Ballroom Dancer's association to judge, all so she could be their choice.
      Anyone who could have been an actual contender wasn't permitted to try out for the qualifiers. She wanted in so she could deliberately fail for her thesis {Gender Discrimination in Sports}, and the BDA wanted her in out of spite, knowing that she would fail, all because essentially Ballroom Dancing was replaced at the Olympics by Breakdancing.
