"Scumble!?!" "Modify (a painting or.color) by applying a very thin coat of opaque paint to give a softer or duller effect." Julia's devotion to the arts wasn't limited to the culinary ones, evidently! A relatively simple meal made with expertise is its own art form, after all!

Oh, how much easier her life got with the development of the food processor for fine sugar. I do have to say I love my food mill, like she used for the berries

It sounds like her repeating was a recording made off the set and not while she was putting the cookie dough on.

Diferent times - uncooked egg whites would never fly today!

Raw eggs are the standard in making cookie dough; then and now.

@@tracydanneo she's making a frozen dessert, so not sure what your reference to cookie dough means. Uncooked egg whites carry a risk of salmonella so while you, personally, might accept that risk, at this time it is definitely not " the standard."

@@mikehill3728I’m not sure what video you’re watching, but Julia here makes a cookie dough as the first recipe. If you’re scared of raw eggs, don’t cook.
