- The First Hill Line in Seattle is unique because it uses hybrid technology and half of the tracks do not have an overhead wire. There are so many trolleybus wires already over the streets and intersections that eliminating one streetcar wire greatly simplifies the catenary network.

despite being visually messy trolley wires are the most sustainable option for electric vehicles. using hydrogen in combustion engines or fuel cells is the best alternative.
wiring's mightily less messy than the clutter customarily strung along wonkily leaning wooden hydro poles though..none of this wiring can be turfed, you see 👀
Why all the fretting about overhead wires .. electric traction lives !
