^ I hate to bring politics into it, but you are absolutely right. California is known for releasing criminals back into the public when it should NEVER happen, as those criminals are dangerous to the public. A lot of people in Mr Ballen’s community seem to be annoyingly liberal & I’m assuming it’s because a good chunk of the people watching videos like this are female. The political divide right now in America is strange because the Democratic Party is not like it was 40 years ago; it’s gone completely left and has lost any common sense. It shouldn’t even be a debate at this point of who you’re voting for. If you are still voting for a left-wing candidate after the last 8 years, something is wrong with your brain. It makes absolutely no sense. Higher taxes, higher crime rates, tighter gun laws (which you’d assume females would be totally against because it gives them a worse chance at protecting themselves from men), etc. I really don’t think America has much longer before it completely collapses. Liberalism has ravaged our country and caused a mental breakdown in women & weak men. Hate to see it, but I don’t have much to worry about because I am prepared to fight if it comes down to it.

I think shooting and killing people, even though they're bad would have a more profound effect on the psyche than telling stories he adds stuff to, because some of the stuff he spews he has no business knowing. You could go back even further and I guarantee you in her darkest moments. Tristan's wife resents him in a small amount because she knew something was wrong and she hoped and hoped that they wouldn't go on the trip. He should have listened to his wife and trusted her instincts in that moment. Sometimes when you really really feel like something shouldn't happen, you need to trust those instincts and Tristan ignored that and lost his life. I'm not saying that it's his fault at all. I don't want to come across that and I'm not really outwardly accusing his wife of resentment. I'm just stating in my opinion if this happened to me and I begged my significant other to not go somewhere and they did and they promised me everything would be okay and the next day I find out they're dead I would be upset and after a while I feel like there would be resentment. Not like I hate you but I hate that you didn't listen type resentment. Long winded reply but that's the feeling I was getting the whole time and it takes what you were going with and takes it a step farther like you could go back even farther and realize everything about this trip was a red flag. 2-year-old and 4-year-olds should not be camping lol

You’re such a good man, John. A good good man. Starting these nonprofit organizations to help people is an act of an angel which I believe you are. If it wasn’t for you many people would still be hurting and on a personal note, if it wasn’t for you I would have most likely have taken my own life long ago due to depression and guilt. Guilt from when I used to be addicted to opiates and it led me to be dishonest with my family and lose about a decade of my children’s lives when it was crucial that I’d be a part of their lives at that time. I can’t turn back time although I wish I could do that I’d have a second chance at being the father I was supposed to be but I am now. I am currently over 5 years clean and sober and have been an intricate part of my kids lives and have mended myself with my family but yet the guilt still haunts me to this day. Many times I have been on the edge of giving up and saying fk it and end it all but whilst watching your vids you had a segment at the end about depression, suicide prevention and mentioned about a therapy hotline or online counselling and it lit a little flicker of the “hope lightbulb” in my head and decided to seek therapy in hopes of relieving some of the guilt I have and the constant depression and being ashamed to be out in public as I think I have no value in this life. So with that being said, I thank you Mr. Ballen … John, you’re a good man, bro and I thank you also for your service when you were a Navy SEAL. I know the chances of you seeing and reading this are next to none but I am writing this regardless. Thank you John. I cannot thank you enough. God bless 🙏🏽 👊🏽🤙🏽🫵🏽🖖🏽

Just one change would have meant the difference between life and death, just one little thing being different. That is so unbelievably sad.

Back in 2015 when I was 19, I went camping with a group of friends in Malibu. The campsite was super remote, between two mountains, and there was no other campers besides me and my friends.
When night time came one of the days we were there, a random dude rolled up and parked next to our cars. Remember... there were NO other campsites, we were the only ones there cause my friend booked the only two sites that were available. The dude came out and walked up to all of us sitting around the fire and introduced himself as Taft and how he was looking to sleep in his car here and asked if that was okay. My friend was a little too naive and trusting so before any of us had time to think she just blurted out "Sure!!" And Taft said he was going down to town and he will be back later. Once he left we all sorta starting thinking about how weird the whole situation was. Like MrBallen said, Malibu is very mountainous and pretty rugged to get around. There was a giant boulder literally in the middle of the road on our way to the campsite that we had to drive around.
Taft never actually came back. Dont know what his deal was but he likely saw that we outnumbered him 12 to 1 so he wasnt about to take a chance at whatever he had planned.

The negligence in this story is pervasive throughout multiple entities. Definitely, the Malibu River State Park management for starters. But equal responsibility lay on the shoulders of the County Sheriff's Department and the California State Police, as well as the California State Parks Department. The failure of law enforcement to investigate multiple prior shootings is abhorrent. Failures on the part of the Park Staff and the Parks Department officials to post notices and warn the public in general are nothing short of criminal negligence. If there's any justice left in this world, Tristan's family should, at bare minimum, be financially secure for at least the lifetimes of his two daughters. Furthermore, whatever parties are responsible for lack of investigation, as well as threat notification to the public, should be terminated from their positions for professional malfeasance, with permanent blots on their professional records.

I have a friend who was at a campground in New Mexico when she was in elementary school. A man invaded the the group of camp girls and their chaperones, he un-alived many of them. My friend never really recovered from the trama. She said the military and local officials told the survivers to never talk about this to anyone ever. I'm amazed she told me, but she felt like that small bit of information she shared with me would get us both in trouble. Campgrounds are not safe. Too many people get un-alived or disappear.

This story is heartbreaking and I feel for both Erika, her two daughters, and Scott who I’m sure was also greatly traumatized by this as it seemed he had a close relationship with his brother in law.

On November 16, 2022 my father was murdered on one of our city buses in Eugene Oregon.
LTD did not inform its own community that they were having issues on their buses. If we would’ve known, my father certainly wouldn’t have been on the bus.
The only reason he was, is because he was unable to drive after one of his procedures and he was wanting to go to church. Our family would’ve made other arrangements for him to attend church if we had been informed of what was going on. It saddens me that my father could still be alive if only if they had been truthful.

I’m really proud of how Mr Ballen has come, he now has a foundation that helps families from these stories. It never ceases to amaze me how selfless you are! When I get paid in a couple of weeks I’ll be donating, I’m assuming I can donate from Scotland?

The story teller was a Navy Seal who Shawked hajis for a living and now he's trying to sell us some crap for mental health. He says he needed to get his mental health in order to tell stories. I think shooting and killing people, even though they're bad would have a more profound effect on the psyche than telling stories he adds stuff to, because some of the stuff he spews he has no business knowing. For example what the dying victim's last words were, or that so and so was so pleased or happy, How can he know this, does he have a crystal ball?

@@michalwolski2046 Not all military members kill people!!!! They join the military to better their lives. To help their country! To make sure their family have their needs and wants met. The military does a lot for the soldier, you join it and basically you & ur family are set for life… & the soldiers do a lot for our country! If they don’t do it, this world would be even more screwed up. How can you sit and judge a soldier for “killing” when it keeps your ass safe? Have some respect!

One thing I love about you, Mr Ballen, is that you take minutes and minutes to fully and truly describe the individual and their personality. Then when/ if something bad happens to that person by the end of the video, we all feel such a loss.
Just love your talent with storytelling.

@@myphone-ph4hh Everyone has faults. Maybe some people's faults are harder to see; and maybe when they pass away, obviously those who love them won't focus on those faults, but instead concentrate on those positive attributes at their core that make them who they are. But everyone has faults--no one is perfect. But you're right, no matter what someone's imperfections are, they never deserve to get senselessly murdered.

@@meghanemily2041 yeah and i think the vast majority of people have good points too its just sometimes we dont see them if people have fallen on hard times. I think mrballen always finds the kindest things to say about the victims and i really like that about his stories . Hes also a great story teller like the dave Chappelle or billy Connelly of true crime but kinder.
