- A look at the Roden Heinkel 111B in 1/72 scale, this is a notoriously difficult kit to assemble so I put a few bits together to see what problems will arise.

I’ve just bought this kit. I was browsing and thought- well thats not a Heinkel I’ve seen before? Looking at it and looking at it, I thought that this is a very detailed kit for 1/72 scale? I have something of a growing love affair for this series of aircraft. ( Not Very Patriotic- I build British Too). It might have started when I was six years old. One of the neighbours was moving and her son was getting rid of his model collection. It must have been about fifteen to twenty aircraft including the Heinkel B- 111. Of course it got ruined in five seconds flat- which is a shame because looking back to my childhood, these were pretty decent builds! I remember that they reeked of cigarette smoke, his mother was something of a chain smoker but I feel that this was the true catalyst for my model enthusiasm. I’ve always as a small child try to make the things that I saw on Television so I always hand something in my hands- and then Star Wars- but we won’t talk about that.
Yes I’m looking forward to seeing some builds? I really want to get on with mine, but I have a long list of kits waiting? Everyone’s story I guess.

The main issue that you are going yo have is that the fuselage bulkheads are reportedly too large, thus preventing the fuselage from closing up properly. If you address that issue from the start, you should not have too much trouble.

I'm aware of the reputation of this model but from the loose assembly you did, it looked ok actually. A little bit of sanding and filler but sometimes they're the more enjoyable type of model...sometimes!!

Hi,was going to buy this kit last year as I have a great interest in these aircraft,not really a 1/72 scale fan though but,built way too many in this scale as & kid I guess?,you are a very good modeller though Jason,so you should do this challenging kit real justice though if & when you decide to build?,especially in a nice Spanish civil war scheme,cheers
This would be a great model to be seen built, what models do you have in queue before this one has its turn?
