@ElementalMaker Hey i was just watching your video on the coilgun from a while back and i just so happened to have come across some some large scr gates and other electronic components from the early 80s. such as metal can transistors, amd, intel and many other eeproms, and piles of large and small diodes. lmk if you are interested in any.
"These are things i use everyday" *handgrenade on the table*
Marke EM uses EXTREME social distancing enforcement!
I'm more laid back - I just use a Super Soaker loaded with bleach.
makes a good paperweight at work too
If i had those dummy grenades here in Australia i would be charged for having live grenades
@@markshort9098 Nearly the same here in the EU -.-
What grenades are those and where can I get them?
JIS is the way to go. I will never buy Phillips again if I can avoid it.
Agreed, I was floored the first time I used jis. Can't beat it
With the hex keys, it's Bondhus or bust, man. Totally agree. Perfect engagement. They're not even expensive *AND* they are American made.
casual hand grenades in the background lmao, you take it literally when people ask you to blow their minds
I got the ender3 its a great buy. I ordered ther CR6-Max on their kickstarter. Looking forward to that. Freedom seed molding sounds like fun.
This video couldn't be better timed. Need misc gifts for the wedding registry. Time to buy cool shit for me, in-laws!
Still on point with your jokes. Especially the ATF one.
Thanks, will be used this Christmas.
The ONLY gifts I enjoy getting are ones my daughters make for me. I've gotten so many horrible gifts where I ask myself very seriously 'Has this person EVER met me?". It's not that I am ungrateful but almost universally they get things that THEY think are cool but wind up being completely useless to me. I've always felt that a gift should be something extremely individualised and very personal. If one isn't going to honestly put in true effort to find something that is deeply meaningful it'd be better to just not give anything. My daughters love the gifts I give because I truly think about them as individuals. For instance, when my oldest daughter was in university and taking her advanced chemistry course she was also part of an AD&D club. For christmas I made her an "Emergency Nerd Survival Kit" which included a set of AD&D dice, graph paper and pencils, a couple rolls of magnesium ribbon, a vial of potassium permanganate, KNO3 (which I made from my silver refining waste), sulphur, charcoal (that I made from willow) and 3 ounces of silver (that I recovered from scrap electronics and refined). She told me later that this was the single best gift she has ever gotten and while her friends thought it was incredibly odd they also thought she must have a pretty cool dad to give her some pretty fun stuff. Sadly in today's society gift giving hs been reduced to one upmanship where how much you spend is given more consideration to the tought that is put into it.
But these are some great ideas and it's about DAMNED time that someone has given some great ideas and explained why they are great. So ladies...please pay attention to your man and the things he is into. Even if you have no clue what it is or what it is used for if you KNOW what your man likes, and does when you're not around, these suggestions shown here might just make you the gift giving hero this year. I am almost positive he already has enough tube socks.
By girlfriend gave me a Crankbrothers f17 multitool and she does not even do biking.
This was one of the wholesome moments I ever had.
Never heard of crank brothers but I'll have to check them out!
She's-a keeper! 😤👌🏻
Three reasons I love Elemental Maker. 1 not a shill. 2 not a shill. 3 not a shill.
For the grenade. Mount on stand, attached a number 1 to the ring on the pin. On the stand write "Complaints department. Please take a number".
Love it 😁
Instead of starting fluid for the tubeless tires, I always recommend a bottle of compressed Hydrogen gas. That gas loves to explode in air. It'll get the job done.
Use a repurposed deo can if you dare!
Holy smokes I feel that would would turn the tire into graffiti
With the bench and the title, i thought i was clicking on a video made by AvE :,P
I think that's why he gets recommended.
If they have an ender 3 already, or most printers... I suggest getting a rasperry pi. Then they can get octoprint which is super awesome. Also recommend it for you elementalmaker, and you can do some pretty nifty timelapses with the octolapse plugin.... Another recommendation for the ender 3 is a glass bed. Miles better than the standard one they give you. Believe me I've had mine for years lol. great printer.
Lots of good ideas here, I'd also add a dehydrator to the list. I love making my own jerky, also great for drying herbs, making dog treats, drying food for camping, etc.
Good point! Can't beat some homemade jerkey!
I’ve had my bondhus hex key set for over 20 years and I’ve never had one round off or break, definitely one of the best investments I’ve ever made!
Hey man, just wanted to share, everyone of these items, except the arduino, made it onto my Wedding registry. Thanks for saving me the head ache of trying to figure out things "I" wanted vs the other half! These are great suggestions.
Glad you liked the list! And huge congrats on getting married!
Glad to see an update! Couple questions bout tools & freedom seed making process that seems right up your alley. Have you seen the home made .224 JHP freedom seeds-jacket is spent 22lr brass, pure lead core, and shaped w/ point forming die? I need a real good set of calipers but core mold may need to be custom cut & gotta find point forming die. I've got access to free soft lead & all the spent .22 I can possibly clean, so this seems like a fairly cheap but quality setup.
You are right about the harbor fright calibers, my problem is I do a bit of Black Smithing, and if you are absent minded like I am, you leave your caliber too close to the coal forge, and the little electronics get cooked. Had to finally go old school and purchased a “classic” caliber. As always thanks for the information.
The damn ender 3. I got my pro for about $200, after a year or so, it’s not very stock. Direct drive, custom hotend cooling and blower, aftermarket mainboard, just generally abused and well treated at the same time.
I would also recommend at vernier scale caliper. It will always be good to go and I got a Mitutoyo that reads both Inches and Metric at the same time. The Iguaging bench squares are fantastic for woodworking.
I expect a rubber chicken to be on that list
Those r really good. My broke when i put it on my exhust. Rip chicken
@@myes344 I put mine on my blow off valve it was my favourite modification I did.
So I see this in my feed and I'm like "Cool a new Ave video". Then he starts talking all funny and being very polite and all...wth I want my money back!
good stuff, I finally learned its worth it to spend a bit more for high quality stuff you can keep forever-ish. well if you have the money that is.
Since Harbor Freight came along, it's a balancing act for me. If it's something I'm likely to use a fair bit, I'll spend money for a good tool, if it's a once or twice in a lifetime type specialty tool, Harbor Freight is great! Sometimes I'm even surprised, I got a 1/2" drive ratchet because I thought the ability it has to extend was cool, I have abused it pretty hard for around 10 years and other a small chunk that got ripped out of the rubber handle, it looks and functions flawlessly...
Amazing idea
I just had to lube the motor bearings on a Craftsman Wet/Dry Vac 2.5HP, it ran but smoked. there are 2 motor bearings, one has ball bearings with a plastic seal you can remove to clean and grease them, the other bearing is just a solid piece of metal, when the grease wears out it gets quite hot. Why did they use on good bearing and one crap bearing?
that new bullet mold is wicked, i want one now
Thank you, It's pretty damn sweet! I smoked the mold last night, and think I'll be doing the first casting with it later tonight. Can't wait to try it!
I just got myself an ender 5 plus and so far I’m loving it.
Holy crap there's already a 5?! I'm two behind!
ElementalMaker it’s ok, they skipped 4. It’s basically a giant gantry style ender 3 with a build volume of 350 x 350 x 400. I’m actually thinking about getting an ender 3 to go along with my ender 5 because once you have one 3D printer, you start to think about how nice it would be to have a second one.
Great video and recommendations, thank you!
P.S. What's a cheap and easy way to brew up some isopropyl cleaning alcohol? Video idea?
Thank you! And great question, I've never thought about how isopropyl alcohol is made! I'll have to check it out
Thanks for the ideas and suggestions!
Also, another viewer pointed out "these are things I use everyday, or look forward to using" with hand grenades on bench.
It feels like a tease... You gotta be doing something interesting with the inert grenades, video coming at some point?
Edit* commented too soon, you mention at end of video. But still no tease at what you're planning on doing with them?
The best headlamp I have ever used and continue to use daily is my Nitecore HC65 that lamp kicks some ass I basically wear it once it gets dark.
Nice I have a few nitecore lights and they are top notch. I'll have to look into it. I just buy these ones as they are pretty affordable, bright as hell, and so far have taken a good beating. The price is the nice point for me since I can keep one in each toolbox and one in the car.
I have those iGaging calipers. I've had good luck with them.
I'm old school and can't stand digi calipers. I still have/use a pair of Brown & Sharpe analogs that I bought 25 years ago.
Thanks man!! 🤘🌮
A decent torque wrench has helped me from breaking things. That's what really matters.. don't over or under do torque and you're good - just hit that sweet spot.
Ironically, I have a Snap-On 3/8 drive I got back around 2003, then I got a 1/4 and 1/2 from harbor freight for the unbelieveable price of $10.99 each around 10 yrs ago. But the one I thought I'd never use was the 1/4. Use the 3/8 a lot building car engines, pretty much everything else tight but not too tight was good enough except lug nuts, I wanted to make sure they were all the same on a wheel (don't care overly much what they tourqe to as long as they are alk the same) but I never thought I'd use the 1/4 until I got my newest toy, a Desert Tech MDRX!! 😁 now I use the 1/4 to tourqe the barrel lock down bolts.
The spray can idea is very old, in the 70's to early 80's i had one that was basically a normal spray can, but with a screw on top that also had the air filler in the side.
It worked quite well, no idea what happened to it.
What do you spray out of it?
@@danbanowetz Anything that can be sprayed (with limitations due to materials used in construction of the spraycan), paint, varnish etc
But could be used for weedkiller etc.
torque wrenches are a must for a lot lol I have 4 different sizes myself 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4
I don't have a 3/4 tourqe wrench..... 😢 but I do have a nice 3/4 socket set with my Grandpa's initials on every piece!!! 😁
Man
Instead of going with harbor freight for cheap semi disposable electronic Vernier calipers I'd suggest stepping up to literally any company that will brand its name on their tools and getting there regular Vernier calipers for about the same price. Ive have Mitutoyo's warp! Not all but, if your in the home shop your not usually gonna be in possession of traceable inspected gauge blocks so stepping down the tech first then stepping down the brand on something like calipers is a good overall plan IMHO.
note, I am nearsighted and vernier is easy to read to me. And while I haven't had any Starrett brand calipers warp, im sure they are fairly equal overall to other name brands. Starrett just also happens to be a tool steel supplier so they have a bit better stock for not warping.
Merry Christmas!, now let's get the hell out of 2020😳
Merry Christmas to you too Michael!
A ratchet strap strapped around the center of the tire will also help you reset the tire bead.
We did try that method as well but since my rim has a nice bend it wouldn't seat.
JIS = Japanese Industrial Standard
I would add to that list, an EEVBlog brymen multi meter. Real good meter at a pretty good price.
I had one my father gave me (or I borrowed and never returned, after 35 years I don't remember which) worked great until the AZ heat turned the lcd display black and couldn't read it anymore.... I should have fixed it, but I didn't know I could do most anything back then....
Get a plastic cutter for your torch. They work amazing
I one, they are great! The plastic welding attachment is also a great add on, highly recommended 👍
The Ender 5 is good too.
I assumed this was AVE from the title and thumbnail
Me too🤣🤣
And he starts out saying he won’t do sponsored content, like an American AvE but with rockets and hand grenades.
Im looking for some nice metric dial calipers for $50-$100 for my 3D printing. any recommendations?
In that price range you can get one of the reputable brand names. Mitutoyo, Starett are great, but I can't find any reasonably priced metric ones available. Here's a Fowler metric dial caliper. amzn.to/3ip87Gd they are a top notch brand, many of the machinists I worked with in the past highly regarded their Fowler tools.
@@ElementalMaker thats the issue ive run into. Those brands make exactly what i want, in my price range, but not in metric. Its sure strange that theres a gap in the market for metric calipers at that price range.
It's so weird I just stopped by an army Navy store and bought a couple of the disarmed grenades and the video that comes up on my way to work you mentioned the couple sitting on your bench wow just weird
never heard of Portasol Pro Piezo 75 Soldering Iron... seems great to me
If you solder in different places, It is the greatest thing on earth!! My dad used a battery powered iron, which worked well for him because he used it every day so he charged it every night and it was always ready. I fix cars so I never know when I'll need it, but it's always ready even if it's been 6 months since I used it last.
How did i never notice the grenades.
This is good, and it’s perfect to send to someone if you don’t have tools... but I already have half the stuff on this list 😂..... 😭
I figured that might be the issue for most of my viewers 😁
ElementalMaker It’s still good because you’re getting those viewers of their spouses & S/Os looking for ideas, or guys who want to get into it but just need that push and if they do happen to stumble across this, just fantastic 👍 actually gonna send it to some of my friends who don’t do handywork.
Everybody uses the tekton torque wrench thats around 60$ for the half inch that goes from 10-150 ft lbs but i have had nothing but bad luck with them.. seemed like everytime i used it ii would break the first godamn bolt.. tightening head studs id get to the final torque on the first bolt and everytime i would think to myself " seems like thats a bit more than what i set it to then plink.. not sure why. I even recalibrated the damn thing and still did it to me...
Huh that's strange. I've had nothing but good luck with tekton tools, but I've never tried their torque wrenches. They look very nice though.
and about the brewing, you may not save money if its beer, but you definitely will if you brew mead.
No kiddin! I've never brewed mead, but I might have to give that a try! Any favorite recipes?
A bullet mold ... from mother-in-law?!
She's a keeper , no matter what the wife is . Lol .
Great news is the wife is a keeper too! 😁
@@ElementalMaker man , I lost my phone , bought a new one , and had to resub to all my favorite channels , of which there are quite a few . Somehow , the phone and my memory both went during recovery from a Chinese illness. So, being like a 95 year old minded person, I couldnt remember several of the top favorites nor my oldest sons name .
I'm so tickled that I found you again . Heck , I'd near give you fist bump right now . And your mushroom video , cuz , morels shitakes , Chantels, nazatakis. Let's do this . I've been so intrigued by edible foreign organisms for a long time .
Oh Hey , nice goatee , and happy new year .
Love the vessel screw drivers. They are cheap as hell here. 2 bucks a piece where i live. I probably have 30 of em and they just dont die.
Holy smokes say what!? Where do you live that they are that cheap! Man my whole shop would be filled with them!
@@ElementalMaker korea. But happy to send a few your way.
@@marinemtrt thank you so much for the offer, but I'm sure shipping would be brutal. Truly appreciate your kindness though 👍
@@marinemtrt if I'm ever in Korea I'll be sure to stock up!
@@ElementalMaker nah, im stationed here. Just send it through the post office. And tough shit my treat. What do you need, just found the channel and love the content.
Now how do I get this video to show up in my GFs youtube suggestions? Hmmmm. ....
Leave it up on the computer 😂
Attach it to one of those facebook personality tests
Don’t get an Arduino uno. Get the Leonardo, especially if you’re getting it for someone who likes playing PC games. You can make your own game controllers with the Leonardo.
I guess I'm behind the times! I'll have to check out the Leonardo, sounds like a cool upgrade!
10.99 for a torque wrench? I was looking at replacement boxes for my snap on's & they're at least $5 & shipping, worth just having the box to store my nice wrenches, thanks!!
This is crazy lol. I think we were separated at birth lol. Everything you have I have lol. Your play counter looks like mine too lol.
I allways fantasize over buying a really expensive hand crafted awl or a screw driver with one of those fancy wooden handles, but my wallet doesn't let me..
Arduino sells a number of kits. Frikin awsome programmers.
Only watched the first few minutes.
I already have my own very well equipped shop with tools of my own preference, but it does not include fragmentation grenades.
Americans infatuation with military grade weapons kinda worry me a little.
Have you tried not being a crybaby about it?
It's not the measuring tool... it is where you start the measurement from
:P
Paper Weight???? Whats that???
last time I was this early, NNN had just ended.
When will the sugar rocket fly ?
Thy holy hand grenade
Is it just me..... Are you AvE junior lol. Just kidding bro love your channel
I wouldn't mind if you took sponsor videos from things like kiwico and the great courses plus or other tried and true youtube sponsors like audible. I am all for you making more money off youtube. But maybe you should do a poll on youtube to see how many people agree.
Glad to see that capricorn ptfe there next to the printer. Seriously one of the best upgrades you can do it putting good ptfe on a printer so you can print ABS or nylon without melting the tube/throat.
Thank you my friend. I don't have anything against those that do sponsorships, it's just not for me. I prefer keeping it the patreon, YT revenue, and eventually some merch. And glad to hear the capricorn tubing is a worthwhile upgrade! I have a microswiss nozzle I need to put in too. Maybe I'll throw it all in today.
@@ElementalMaker makes sense. But if you do ever decide to take a sponsorship on you might still run a poll but I have a feeling most of us would be happy to see an ad.
Microswiss nozzles are great. I just bought a .6 nozzle for my sidewinder from them because it was 30% off for cyber Monday. But I have been using the .4 on my cr-10, i3 mega, and sidewinder for years and love it. It rarely clogs and when it does it's because something that isn't the nozzle like a faluty extruder gear or bad filament but it's super rare. The next upgrade I love is having octoprint on a raspberry pi with a camera. Oh and lock nuts on the leveling knobs. Basically replacing the knobs with a printed thing that holds a lock nut. I had a print fail 40 hours in because the stock knobs on my cr-10 slowly losened.
Can you make my amazon wishlist?
And don't forget to gift them something special too...
Another tool that is awesome to get as a gift is a Starrett tap wrench. AvE has a video about good them czcams.com/video/F7gdLo5EjcE/video.html
Is this AvE?
Is it possible that the calipers you believe are better than the Mitutoyos are actually just presenting a fake result and rounding to zero when they're near zero? Stuff like this is not uncommon. Even Mitutoyo have been caught faking accuracy in software so I wouldn't be too surprised.
Thought this was a AvE video at first, your voice had me very confused.. back to the video regardless
you're into meteorology now too?
Just the very basics needed for my home machining projects!
Discount AvE
I'm just fuckin with ya, another great vidja
You really need to wave those things in front of the camera, rather than down there... Can't see a darned thing! :)
my brother watches your channel and my mom set up a go fund me to help him get enough money raised to buy the things he needs are you willing to help him by sharing his page?
i dropped my nice pair of calipers today 😥
Why do you have three pineapple grenades on your bench?
Reasons
I see you collect Chuck Norris' turds. You pull the pin out you throw them they go 'splodey!
I see the green mat and think you are AVE lol
Never buy from snap on. They screwed me bad on a 12000 dollar scanner and wouldn’t take it back. Broke my heart but snapper does not back their shit.
For some reason this whole time i thought i was watching AvE
Things I use everyday
#1 hand grenades!!???????😅😆😆😆😀😂😂
But never gift anyone brass Allen keys. Ever. Period.
They are gold pleated, not brass
@@ElementalMaker I see. Thank you!
You mean tell your partner what you want so she Does not Buy you rubbish gifts i told her I wanted a 3-D printer And I got a alexa echo auto for my car And I don't even listen to the radio in the car I like to driving In silence so I can think
3d printers pretty cool
Metal printers too
Michael like🤤
Dude, you SHOULD do some sponsored reviews. Just don't agree on only saying good stuff abou them.
Eh I really hate it when CZcamsrs do sponsor stuff. I appreciate it though man.
@@ElementalMaker I'd love to see products being burned down by you tbh
@@DC_DC_DC_DC lol my whole review of products will be to see how they hold up to thermite 😁
@@ElementalMaker You don't know how much I appriciate this! I am sick off youtubes shilling videos. They are 13 in dozen. It's so hard to find reliable reviews now days.
Thank you for entertaining us and keeping it real!
granted your calipers are low quality, but every time to thrown them down on the counter @5:40 i cringe..
