In my opinion, the hard round pressure opacity brush's BIGGEST allure and advantage is that it literally caters to those who started their art passion with pencil and paper. Pressure = DEPTH, CHARACTER, ATTITUDE, SHADOWS, HIGHLIGHTS, MOOD, MOTION, e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g.

it's pressure + stroke type for me, man I used to only draw in the standard HB for ages, it's a shame I didn't know how to preserve them back then

I think what people really want to know is how you’re achieving what you are achieving. I see so many rant videos about brushes and all people really want to know is why a particular tool they are using doesn’t seem to behave the same way as when you use it. Your “how to paint____magic” tutorials are the perfect answer to what people really want to know. The actual breakdown of technique is so useful whereas a lot of creators on CZcams will post something like it’s a tutorial but they don’t actually teach. They just ramble while drawing “so to paint fire you get your brush and you
paint some fire.” Tada! Your tuts are like water in a desert. Their are bajillions of lectures on here about why some bigger principle like composition is more important than technique that are totally useless for people trying to learn. Without technique, learning the big stuff just makes you someone that knows about art not someone that knows how to make art. Lol Most beginners just don’t know how to ask.

This is literally the only brush you need especially if you use it in combination with the selection tool, temp layer, and a soft eraser. You can get hard edges as well as soft edges. Varying the brush size, opacity, flow, and layer effects gives you unlimited possibilities.

ohhh this is what I was looking for! I've been doing traditional art for about 7 years and only just started doing digital a little over a year ago. Still trying to figure out the brushes even now, but I'm finding more and more of videos like these that reccommend just the basic brush and it makes me so happy. Honestly, digital brushes are so overwhelming to me

I personally don't like to rely on complex texture brushes. But you have to use different brushes, like, it's a tool, tools are created to do specific jobs. Of course, a guy with 1 brush in windows Paint Brush can do amazing things, but it also depends on the painting style.

I would suffer for eternity if I attempted to black/white -> color as it would drive me insane. It makes the lighting so much harder.... To me, I find the round brush... Is perfect for skin when combined with an air-brush, I'm to the point I can embrace the sterile side of it, but clearly fun to look at. I find it's great for Manga-Cover style-art, great for masks, hell it is more default tool for coloring / shading, when I use erase tools as said shading as well.

I don't know, the end result is a master piece, everything is blended smoothly where needs to be, but the brush strokes at the beginning and middle part look awful (for my taste), while other brushes make nice strokes from the beginning, good thing brushes are so easy to make.

I am on the same page with " brush strokes being awful for my tastes "... I've used the round brush, but I have done a digital painting with exclusive a round brush and airbrush and still manage to be the most textural of textures. He's using it wrong... It drives me nutts how there is a lack of expressive color at all, the color is a mood, not a FUCKING TOOL HERE. This maybe coming from a painting background for traditional media and digital... It drives me nuts how there isn't good colour. It's too soft, There needs to be some round strokes of harsh hard edges. I'm used to not even smooth shading at all. I would say, shading wise, I'm a guy that does it, but preserves hard edges within-coloring. As I hate smooth shading. Best way to summarize how this guy used the Digital Round Brush for me....
Oh a World of War craft style.... Eghhhh, It's kitsch to me. Mainly it's boring to me due to the softness when the ROUNDBRUSH IS MORE THAN THAT.
