I am an independent who has historically voted Democrat. I am a follower of Christ, born again, and filled with the Spirit of God by His Grace. I believe abortion, gay marriage are moral issues that no government can eradicate. I, therefore, don't vote based on these things. A woman desperate enough will have an abortion even if it were illegal worldwide. No law can police what people do behind closed doors. The church needs to do its job, continue to spread the gospel so that minds and hearts are transformed so that our young women and men choose abstinence until marriage leading to less unwanted pregnancies and abortions. There's too much hypocrisy and lies in the replican party right now for me to vote republican.
I think the problem that many have with the Christianity that is linked to conservatism or being a republican in modern times is how many use it as a tool to be hateful and discriminatory. Many are horrible representatives of Christ yet have the loudest voices sitting self rightously in all of their hypocrisy. Im not called to a party but rather to serve our Heavenly Father by doing his works. And neither party represents Christian values in total although they may hit some points. We see the fruits of their ideals in the world and majority of it is not of Christ. Afterall, they (our earthly government) thrives off of the suffering of others. How can one call themselves Christian and support abortion, lgbtq(not meaning you have to be for stripping people of basic human rights or murdering them), or racism (hating your neighbor)? We down play racism like it isnt just as much a sin as Christ calls us to love and care for our neighbor. This is why i choose neither party but rather Christ.

To be honest, I became a Christian in 2000. I fell off in 2022, rebounded 2005, it's been a daily struggle every day. Before, I gave up the struggle.
All three of them are spiritual opportunism and use Christianity for personal gain.
