  • I finally tracked down the last game I needed for my full set of Nokia N-Gage games! I now have every retail boxed hardware release that was ever available for the system worldwide. It has taken me several years to find them all but I got there in the end xD. 55 games in total, all fully complete in box and most (33) still factory sealed. The last game I needed was the uber rare, Australia only release, SEGA Rally.
    In this video I quickly go over all the games and talk a little about N-Gage collecting. I'm hoping to start doing some gameplay videos for these games so if you have any requests please let me know. :)
    Thanks for watching

    If I was an N-Gage owner I'd be spoiled by the packaging! A freaking game cart holder included with a game! Now we're lucky if we get a manual at all!

    Good to see you finally completed the collection.
    I remember when it first launch my mate Brian, who was always ahead of the technology curve, got the N-Gage. I remember it looked awesome, but I was shocked when he told me how you had to remove the battery to swap games, crazy design oversight. At least they fixed that in the revised hardware model.

    I love your explanation at the end, there. People ask me why I collect games and keep some of them sealed and they can't understand it. I'm trying to achieve a full Sonic PAL CiB collection which is starting to take up a lot of room, but I think it'll be worth it in the end. Love your collection and pickup videos; reminds me I'm not the only one. Haha

Nope, I don't think I'm going to buy a complete collection but at very least get some of my/your top picks.

    Thanks. Out of all the original N-gage games, only 55 were ever released as hardware copies that you could buy in stores. The rest were either download only or unreleased/unfinished betas. That's why it might appear I'm missing some titles. But the download only games can still be obtained and played if you search the internet ;-) .

    Was it from a store called Myer in Melbourne by any chance? I'm really intrigued by this game's history. It seems genuinely rare. There was even a point when people questioned the games existence, haha. It's starting to look as if only one chain in Australia stocked the game and in very limited quantities.

    Yes, you can still use an N-Gage as a phone today if you want :) . I was using my original taco model until quite recently.
    I'm not bothered about sealed games tbh. Some of the rarer games would be extremely difficult to find sealed and likely cost a fortune.
    I'll try and get some SonicN footage into one of my vids for you :)

    could you tell us how much you gave for civilization and sega rally and maybe tell us a bit about how you got them, maybe some in the past that you almost got or were outbid? the part of collecting that i like is the stories that go along with it. the stories are quite possibly as good as the item itself! thanks for posting. i'm pleased to see that you found all of them. when you made the video looking for civilization, i looked on the web periodically to help but no avail.

  • @RetroGameTech
    @RetroGameTech  Před 11 lety

    Thanks and yes they copy protection is basically non-existent! Just load up the files onto any MMC memory card and off you go! :) . Although I'm sure that really didn't help Nokia back in the day :/ .
    I recommend picking one up if you can. I still have some tutorials and guides I wrote a couple of years ago on how to install the various softwares. It even emulates Mega Drive, GBC and SNES! I'll try and do some videos about it in the next few weeks :)

    The price of the system seems to fluctuate quite a bit. between £15-£50 depending on model/condition etc. The most expensive I've seen a game sell for was a factory sealed copy of SEGA Rally. It went for $400 USD back in 2012. Crazy!

    Not for the original N-Gage gamephone. Nokia kept and continued to use the N-Gage brand for it's mobile games long after the Taco and QD were discontinued. It would most likely be a download only game released for one of their later smartphones.

    Hi, I think it is very rare, It took almost two years of ebay watching to get a copy, that's the UK version, I think you can still pick up the USA version as they are (were) easier to get hold of, also check the Spanish ebay site as I have seen a copy on there before - but it was expensive. Good luck in your search.

  • @BonchurnoTheSpaceChowboy

    wow i didnt even know it had so many games

  • @RetroGameTech
    @RetroGameTech  Před 11 lety

    That's a big misconception I really want prove wrong :P . It was a commercial failure yes, but a bad system? hell no! It was way ahead of it's time and had loads of exclusive and very good games. The hardware was feature packed and far ahead of the competition for several years. It's only nowadays that people accept smartphones, iphones and 'all in one' mobile gaming devices as the norm. The N-gage was doing all of this a decade ago! :)
