For words that Japanese language itself does not have the Japanese words for, or names in different language, they use katakana letters to make up the words that sound the closest to the original word in its language. In this example, Las Vegas. In Japanese they don't have 'L' n 'V' letters but the closest they have are 'R' n 'B'. So Las Vegas is written and pronounced as ラă‚čベガă‚č (rasu begasu) in Japanese.

I barely say I speak two languages, because sometimes people say that doesnt count, if it does then I speak English and Spanish (native). I have been debating whether to learn Portugese (I have a friend there so I can visit whenever we have time), Japanese (was in a course for 3 months but it was closed, about 10 years ago and then had no time and forgot about it completely) or Chinese (my mom keeps pressuring me to choose it because 'economical and business purposes') although it would be cool but I find Chinese to be the most difficult one of the three.
