No matter how you look at it, the knight is the hero in this scene. He is just doing his best to defend his keep. HOW are we supposed to root for the trio who gang up on him just to BARELY survive?
And they didn't even kill him either, he's about to get on his recipe on these mfs when he gets up 😭
I'm pretty sure he invaded the keep and killed some nobles or monks or whatever, inside.
Yeah, he's actually an invader trying to keep the war going as a chaos agent, can't remember why but he definitely isn't the hero even though he's awesome.
Homeboy fought a 3v1 and only lost because that big bitch sucker stabbed him and the cutscene teleported him under the arch (seriously, he's leagues away from it in the preceding scene).
I don't play this game but from just from this scene and it's value he is presented like how you would usually present a hero:
1. Fights against greater odds
2. Fights in honorable way, no dirty tricks
3. Doesn't run even when he has opportunity, he stands his ground
He beats the Rogue with Dexterity, Wizard with Magic and the Barbarian with Strength!
That is an absolute unit right there.
If only he used magic, lol

On a rewatch the choreography is actually kinda genius. When he’s surrounded at the start his first move is immediately to get them all on one side. Then he focuses on disabling them so it turns into a series of 1v1 fights rather than a 1v3. Massive credit to the animators and choreographers.

@@buddermonger2000he parried magic, with his HAND. He didn’t use a parry spell or something magic himself. He just put his hand over an explosions
The kicker is that the knight isn't doing some fancy bullshit. He's actually doing swordplay to an extent and it's so cool to watch this
No magic, just skill. He did use a ward against the elf, but that was more of a block.
@Jon Baxter nah there was no magic involved, if you look he used the pommel and crossguard of his sword to guide her arm up and then uses his hand to point her spell back at her.
Its really fucking cool
It's more than the swordplay as well, he's a master of hand to hand and can even disarm a man who is a good portion larger then beat him unconscious
the fact is he's so incredibly strong but the way they animated this fight with the slow, heavy movements makes it believable

I also really like how the 3 didnt take turns. No they surrounded him, tried to sync their attacks, and did everything you're supposed to as a group vs one guy. And it just didn't matter
I mean it's dope af but is he really broke a two-handed axe handle with just a fist strike? He even struck the metallic part no-less.
The man punched the Nord with nothing but hate after he stabbed him with his own sword. Never have I seen a trailer where we root for the unknown warrior like this guy.

Also in the initial clash you can see he slammed his big sword down on the rogue's little sword so hard the rogue had to stop to check that his wrists arent broken 😂
He did break an axe handle with a karate chop.
@@pantherowow77 The Knights a man. You can hear his voice in the trailer or look up "Ascendant Lord".
And then you get to the actual game. Now heft, just swinging around boring gameplay imo
Chaos Astartes: Your days are numbered, Corpse Follower!
Lore Custodes:This isn't the f*cking tabletop Traitor.
I have never seen someone use a heavy sword so efficiently to even use the hilt to attack, very impressive
im positive that 1) his sword is based off a irl sword amd 2) he uses relatively accurate to history
those aren't really heavy, last i check swords at that length should be around 5lbs or 2-3kg
@thecommentguy9380 I believe claymores range between 4 to 8lbs. Still a lot to be swinging around effortlessly like that
@@thecommentguy9380weight at distance is what makes it heavy take a 8-10 lb hammer and hold from one end
@@dreadpiratedan4664 It was extremely good choreography especially compared to most fantasy swordfights but still not that realistic. Most of the attacks are still vastly over-swung for dramatic effect (I was surprised the Nord wasn't hitting his teammates with the axe swings at the beginning). Real sword techniques are even more efficient and less weighty because real swords do not weigh more than like 10 pounds at the highest end. If swords really did weigh like 20 pounds, the fighting style might make sense.
My man Knight was like _"I'm not locked up in here with you; You are locked up in here with ME!"_
This is the coolest thing I've seen in a good long while. I've never in my life expected to see someone wield a massive 2-handed sword with anything approaching _technique!_
Best part of this is how accurate the swordplay is in this. Greatswords like the knight was using were designed to deal with multiple attackers at once. Notice how the knight was using every bit of that weapon to counter, parry, reposte, and even steady himself when needed during the entire fight. Someone did their research.
It's also impressice how the Nord uses his axe the right way, hooking the knight 2 times one his leg and the other his weapon
The most accurate was the magic. The mage combat was true to historical records.
Greatswords were terribly ineffective and their Knight association is almost purerly fictional. It was more of a ceremonial weapon than an actual battlefield weapon.
It did saw some use at the German side of the world but that was about it.
Great swords were used pretty regularly in Europe as both body guards and small divisions of shock troops that saw effective use against pike lines, I don’t know what you’re on about
@@arionell Incorrrect. Greatswords were effective against heavy armor and even more against unarmored or lightly armored peasants. They were also used by knights mostly as they were expensive and required years of training to use.
Peasants were using spears as they were cheap and required 30 second instructions.
Nothing more satisfying than seeing the “nameless knight” willingly turn his back on his enemies and giving them free attacks on him. Outstanding
I mean, that's the point of plate armor so you can shrug off attacks and be more reckless
@@powahpower2463 wasn't very good though since apparently a sword can go straight through the middle of it
@@PandaCake978 because the person who was directing this doesn't know how plate armour functions
@@susamogus5693 you could argue it's bullshit able by just saying the Nord was having something akin to an adrenaline rush which somehow gave him the strength to pierce the armour. Still bullshit but better than nothing.
If you even paid half attention you'd realize that he was not only fighting the high elf but the last time he looked at the Nord he was out cold, same with the rogue.
"My fellow Knight, even in death... You shall stand tall"
I sometimes wish we could get these games with same level of graphics as these trailers have for CG and animation. Having a full ES game in this quality, and to have the music be this awesome would just be the greatest thing ever. I know the song is just reused from older games, but being slowed down, slightly bass boosted and a little deeper in tone for the cinematic, but god damn, I vibe to this version.
I would be completely comfortable with bringing him back as a main character
They've given us a knight that has the balls to finally punch the spellcaster (a dream of mine) and not only goes against a Nord, but brings the fight all the way down to fisticuffs with the bearman.
And he's the antagonist? Did you see his knightly stance at the beginning? He's my hero
He’s just awesome dude
And he beats the Nord!
@@Super50ldierit’s already been confirmed he’s not an imperial knight, he’s the ascendant lord. And also a Breton.
@@Super50ldierI stand corrected, he’s half Breton and half imperial
@@Super50ldier I’m honestly not so sure about that one, I considered the possibility that being a mix of the two races he might have enhanced abilities such as abnormal strength and speed but it’s not very grounded. From what I now know he’s a highly accomplished Breton sorcerer and a highly accomplished imperial knight so it makes sense as to why he’s highly resistant to magic and he’s as well trained as he is. But yeah the strength side isn’t something I’m sure of, being able to rival a nord physically is an incredible feat so I’m sure there would have to be reasoning behind it.
he did not falter, he did not yield, he did not fall, he did not lose, and most importantly he did not die, the knight was truly a true warrior, unlike the three misfits
What an absolute Chad. It took three people just to minorly inconvenience him, they had to drop an actual bridge on his head, and he STILL fell into throne position. What a lad.
i just love how EVEN AFTER GETTING WOUNDED the protagonists still were like "yeah we still dont stand a chance using weapons... lets just brow a giant rock on him and make him fall through the floor" and even after doing that ellaborate planning to kill him he might still return XD dude this man is on his revenge arc now

0:51 that two hit combo is just beautiful. That Knight understands his sword is a tool and makes full use of all of it
I bought the whole sword, I'll use the whole sword.
not for the one that's on the receiving end 🤣
That's pretty much how armored knights fought back in medieval times tho, they hit each other with swords, not slash. And a lot more throwing hands were presented than people might think
@@cheesuschrists It's banned in most HEMA comps but stamping on their feet is incredibly effective at creating openings, if they're wearing sabaton and you can crush even a small part in the articulation it can lock up so it hampers their footwork.
The kidney shot was refreshing to actually see in one of these. Always wondered why they never incorporated them before
Now that's a Knight!!!
Damn!!!
I will never get tired of someone wielding a greatsword so effectively
me too 🙌
I love how he's not just skilled, he's got a strategy you can follow. He tries not to fight all three at the same time. He's confident he can take down the Nord in 1v1, or the mage and assassin in 2v1, but not all three, so he keeps trying to separate the trio into those groups so he can deal with them in what is effectively two separate fights.
He initially tries the easier option by ignoring the Nord (by dodging), knocking the mage down and sending the assassin off the roof. He then starts to fight the Nord 1v1 but is interrupted at 0:43 when the mage launches the assassin back into the fight faster than he anticipated. Fortunately he's then able to knock the Nord down shortly after by settling for a non lethal blow, and takes down the assassin and mage as fast as he can, settling for a non lethal blow on the assassin as well so he can deal a decisive one to the mage. Then while both the mage and assassin are down he immediately goes for the Nord 1v1 instead of finishing off the assassin, who would've been the easier target, but going for the assassin would have risked the Nord getting back up, and he's the biggest threat since a hit from the Nord could go through armour.
Only issue is the elf goes missing from 0:44 to 0:53. The assassin was flanking around the Nord from 0:44 to 0:49 so they could surround the knight with his back to the edge of the roof, but the elf could have flanked from the other direction and doesn't, nor does she help when the knight 1v1s the assassin.
Okay
Dang you're amazing
Great choreography there huh
Yeah I noticed 0:44 to 0:49 as well haha. Still a badass trailer!
Ik it's fake, but fighting is fighting period & it amazes me how some folks can critically think AS they're in the middle of fighting. I've tried & I just get into a tunnel vision when I'm fighting irl. Very hard to train your brain to calculate & process shit while ur in the middle of it.
Not only was this guy extremely skilled, his sword was sharp enough to cut through steel armor.
knight bro fight 1vs3, got backstabbed ,still walks it out, and also didn't die at the end...what a real gigachad 💪💪
Breton knights in lore are crazy scary so it makes sense he’s this strong in the trailer. I remember reading somewhere that Breton knights and mages are some of the only warriors to strike fear into the aldmeri domains forces but they are always bickering amongst themselves. If some lore buffs can add to this I would be interested.
I don’t have extra lore to share but I will say this. Orsimer have to deal with guys like this on the regular and the redguards maybe once or twice an era if they’re not bullying the orcs together. With that in perspective, fuck me would I not want to fight the daggerfall covenant
I can't confirm that but apparently the knight depicted is from a shadow organization determined to keep the war between the three factions going on forever. So the bickering part rings true.
Sure, Here ya go!
During the Warp in the West, a significant event in the lore of The Elder Scrolls, multiple conflicting outcomes of the same event occurred simultaneously due to the manipulation of the Numidium, a powerful Dwemer artifact. In the aftermath of this event, the Kingdom of Daggerfall, located in the region of High Rock, was left in a state of chaos and political upheaval.
Amidst the turmoil, the Knights of the Dragon, an order of Breton knights, emerged as a stabilizing force. Led by their heroic leader, Lord Bridwell, the Knights of the Dragon were renowned for their unwavering loyalty and their commitment to upholding the principles of honor and justice.
As the Kingdom of Daggerfall descended into a state of civil war and rival factions vied for control, the Knights of the Dragon acted as a unifying force, rallying other knights, warriors, and noble houses under their banner. With their disciplined ranks and formidable combat skills, they were instrumental in restoring order and bringing stability back to the region.
The valor and prowess displayed by the Knights of the Dragon during this chaotic period solidified their reputation as noble defenders of the Breton people. Their unwavering dedication to protecting the innocent and upholding the ideals of chivalry made them revered figures throughout High Rock.
This specific piece of lore highlights the important role that Breton knights, such as the Knights of the Dragon, played in times of crisis, showcasing their resilience, leadership, and commitment to justice.
@Sinyao yeah I've heard, idk about this particular cinematic though, he definitely made them join forces to defeat a greater threat.
Lore aside, Bretons are racially talented in magic deflection, so the Altmers, who are purely based on magic, should be scared
Two thoughts come to mind with this trailer;
1) Dear God if only the gameplay were half as exciting as this fight scene
2) Thank you Bethesda for accurately depicting the fact that there's absolutely nothing "slow" about a greatsword in the hands of a goddamn master.

I love this choreography. There's hardly any moment that falls victim to the "let's engage one at a time" trope. The fight does a really well job of the Knight positioning himself and removing enemies to purposefully engage in 1v1 combat.
And that magic parry was so badass.
Bro, even after he died, that knight was sitting like a god
I don't know the game, but this knight is an absolute hero judging from the trailer, was defending his town from invading misfits, like a thief, some rogue mage and rading viking, almost got them all but got stabbed in the back... this better be one of the protagonists
Plus he didn't kill any of the 3 people attacking him, even tho he could have easily. He showed restraint even as a skilled warrior. Dude is the hero we need
