- Continuing with the popular IndianOil Now Hear Us monthly digital concert series, this video is Episode 9 featuring the amazing Veena player and vocalist Ramana Balachandhran.
He begins his recital with a Muthuswami Dikshitar composition "Shri Mathrubhootham" in Raga Kannada. This is followed by an exquisite rendition of "Muddu Momu" in Raga Suryakantam by Saint Thyagaraja.
Ramana concludes the concert with "Sarvam Brahmamayam", a composition by Sadashiva Brahmendra in Raga Madhuvanti. This composition is tuned by Shri Voleti Venkateshwarulu.
Ramana is accompanied by the fabulous Sumesh Narayanan on mridangam and the brilliant Chandrasekhara Sharma on ghatam.
This almost two-hour performance is peppered with little fun nuggets of the musicians' experiences around Auroville and in Adishakti Theatre where the concert was performed and recorded.

Words fail me, Ramana. I listened to this concert last night from beginning to the end, and was torn between watching you and just closing my eyes and being transported by your astonishing imagination.
To me, you have found your place among all the great improvisers of Raga music that can tap into something transcendent and limitless that I can only dream of as a mere listener. Thank you!

After a very long time I am listening to this veena concert. I recollect my memories when as a ten year old boy listened to the great Shri Emani Shankara Shastri at the Music Academy sitting on the dais and Lo and behold it was a scintillating performance by the maestro. After the maestro passed away at the age of 48(I think) I stopped listening to the veena as there were hardly anyone that had the skill . I thought it had died. But after this program I think the art has just revived and he is really playing well. I hope he continues to excel in this art . May god bless him with good health in the years to come.
After a long time a veena concert being heard ,as my brother is 87years and was guru to many.
Here,i find this boy and his sincere effortswould take him along way.my blessings

He is simply devine. The nuances of veena and his singing is just amazing.True to the spirit of classical music. Mridangam and khadam are equally good.

Wonderful performance. Ramana Balachandhran, a child prodigy, always does justice to the raaga by his depth of feeling and long practised expertise. All the best to the artiste and all brilliant accompanists.
Master Ramana Balachandran, is not a child prodigy anymore, he has raised to the level of a VIDWAN, and the Veena and himself grew up together from his Childhood days, and the strings Dance to his finger movements .He has raised to a greater heights a a Vidwan, and Sri Ramana Bhaghawan is with him all the time. Who knows whether Sri Bhaghawan himself is back with all of us by the same name as” RAMANA “Balachandran .Blessings to Sri Ramana Balachandran.
@@MoniVHS Ramana balachandran is a gift from divinity for classical music.By the time he approached the youth stage no doubt he has achieved a level in classical music where normal persons take time beyond the time duration what Ramamna balachandran has taken. He is in the level a vidwan no doubt.But going too emotionally in this regard is not correct. i humbly submitt Bhagawan Ramana maharshi i think he is merged with parabrahman ,where is the room for taking another birth that too to give a shabda swaroopa which is conceived by indriyas. Bhagawan Ramana maharashi has gone beyond jagrut,swapana,sushupti.Where is the question of coming back. Ramana maharshi is not attached to this world while he was in the body form.Hence i humbly submitt that we must refrain from such sayings like he has come in the form of that or this. Those saints are form less. No question of coming back.The are ever pervading, nitya,satya. OM NAMAH SHIVAYA.
CONTINUING, One thing is evident as per our sanatana dharma and also lord krishnas sayings in bhagavad geetha, ramana balachandran was a fine veena player in his privious births,now also he has choosen that atmosphere it self as per his vasansas and god has also put him in that atmoshpere it self to safely continue it.That is the great gift from god to the humanity that what we do in this life will be given continuance furthur to prosper in it.

Composition Sarvam Brahmamayam in Madhuvanti ragam was very soothing and devotional to listen. You took me to beautiful divine world. Kannada Raga Alapane is simply superb
I applaud Adishakti Lab for the excellent sets, beautiful visual effects, top camera angles and best recording arrangement as I relax to the vainikagayaka's sing along veena playing beginning with Kannada and Sri Mathrubhootham Thrishiragirinatham !!! Mishrachapu adds to the joy of listening. Santoshakaranam Santoshakaaranam is mishrachapu besides Dikshtar's brillantly sweet Sanskrit sahitya.

Am just searched is there any North Indian hu liked this music, nd got u . Usually more South Indian enjoys Hindustani classical music . But less North Indians hu can enjoy or like southern classical melodies……I think so. Pt. Nikil Da my v.v.fvrt.
I am from the eastern region of the country. A fact less known to other parts of the country is that quite a few songs of Tagore are based on Carnatic raags. Foe example, like the well-known Telegu song 'Nidu chranamule..' (sung, among others, by the great Balmuralikrishna) the exquisite Tagore song 'Baje karuno sure' is set to Simhendramadyamam. A very famous devotional song for Durga Puja festival sung many many decades back by the late Manabendra Mukherjee - 'Tobo achintya roop chatrito..' is set to raag Bowli/Bhoopalam. And sung with a touch of the Carnatic style as well.

Loved this concert. Such a treat. Fortunate to have stumbled upon this. Great Veena playing combined with acute sense of the music and soulful rendition. Excellent singing-makes the Veena sing with him; sounds like two people singing. Excellent accompaniments. Such a treat to watch and hear these youngsters. They are blessed and we are blessed🙏🙏🙏🙏. Excellent recording and videography too, in a pleasing environment.

@alejandro matas this is a Carnatic instrumental concert. Mridangam, violin, Kanjira and ghatam are the usual accompanying instruments in a Carnatic Vocal performance. The Veena is usually a solo instrument as it is in this concert and it is joined by a ghatam and a mridangam.
