This was definitely one of the most underrated Top Gear challenges haha. Everything, from Jeremy's lap of the track with his patient to Hammond's patient delivery system, cracked me up like nothing else!

Had Top Gear survived longer with its original line-up, we would surely have got a Fire Engine challenge to complete the trilogy.
They had a Fire Engine challenge back in 2010 called: the British Leyland Challenge
They discussed this in the news actually.
Basically, the problem is, if you have a vehicle which is big enough to carry several firemen (and firewomen), all of their gear and several gallons of water, what you end up with is a fire engine.
There’s no real way to improve it.

I have the same memories too, this was hands down one of the best top gear episodes.

I watched this when it first aired on television but I had forgotten about May looking under his ambulance.
That was such a nice touch and so reminiscent of having seen other people do a similar "maybe it is,..." check of an obviously impossible spot when they have misplaced something.

Credit where credits due, I believe Hammond and Clarkson nailed this one. I'm a volunteer firefighter and while I have more experience in firefighting, I know when it comes to safety. If Hammond hadn't installed an ejector and had installed the necessary equipment, it would have been perfect, in my honest opinion
I needed an ambulance after that ending. I couldn't breathe for laughing.
