Much like Hayden Christensen as Anakin people hate the performance but the actor did exactly what he was supposed to perfectly
I absolutely agree. He gave it everything he had. Given both good writing and time to properly develop the character and he easily would have gone down as one of the best. And even in spite of everything, he still managed to have some really good moments.
I met the guy at a convention in Baltimore. He was very nice, charismatic, and great to the fans. I think he would’ve been an excellent Doctor given the chance and the scripts.
For all the issues Colin's era had, giving him a courtroom to tear up verbally was a damn good decision.
Six is easily the best part of his era. Colin was basically having to keep the show up by being as much of a chad as possible as the writing collapsed around him. The Big Finish audios are supposed to show how he could be even more great in better writing circumstances but unfortunately they cost 80 billion dollars.
There's a few old ones free ones on Spotify. If you haven't heard it Jubile is very good with Colin.

That's a myth that the writing was bad. Writing the 6th Doctor's lines must have been a lot more exhausting for the writers than writing any other Doctor, bc of how magniloquently he soliloquises. Vengeance on Varos, Revelation of the Daleks & Terror of the Vervoids are all fantastically written. Conversely, there isn't a single Big Finish audio that is well-written. But since you like BF fan-wank, you should love Attack of the Cybermen. It's the closest the actual show got to resembling BF.
That's uh ... quite tautological. How would a doctor not be the best of their era? They're all also the worst of their era too.
@@tsm688 They mean that Six is the best part of his era, not the best Doctor of his era. As in he's is the best thing in the show during his run as a whole -- not the monsters, not the writing, Six. So no, not tautological in the slightest.
I think it says a lot that Colin Baker, even though he’s seen as one of the lesser doctors, was still a captivating and intriguing character that you love to watch. That’s my favorite things about all the Doctors: each of them have something that makes them better than the others. I still can’t choose a favorite or least favorite that isn’t steeped in personal nostalgia, they’re all just so memorable and lovable.
Peter Davison and Jodie Whitaker are the only ones that really failed to create a captivating and distinct personality, and even then, it's clear that it was more a direction than actor problem.
Since Eccleston, Casanova & the other Jeremy Kyle-impersonators, the sixth Doctor doesn't seem so bad. At least he is written in character.

it's a bit off topic, but the chemistry between jamie and peri in the two doctors was perfect, i've always loved it. i think the sixth doctor should've gotten a second companion to balance out the bickering between 6 and peri, a more chill and in control character like jamie.
Six is very underrated. I adore Collin as the doctor. Shame about the writing, but he's endlessly entertaining
But Sixie has been very much redeemed by the Big Finish audios.
