I remember being in my 20’s thinking muscle size was everything. As you get older you realize it’s not worth the trouble. I’m happy in my 40’s knowing being functionally fit having never cheated using anything unnatural. I lift, do calisthenics, and yoga which gives be a better overall performance.

Ronnie Coleman should be on the list. He won more mr Olympia world tittles than anyone. He was a absolute shredded jacked monster. But his super intense heavy training destroyed his body. He pushed his body way beyond others in the industry.
He suffered a very serious spinal problem and also severely injured his back, shoulder, hips, and neck due to heavy weightlifting. Coleman suffered a herniated disk, which was caused by persistent workouts post-diagnosis, along with 13 surgeries as a result of his super intense training routines.
He lifted weights routinely that no human is designed to lift. Today he is crippled and suffers from extreme pain on a regular basis. He gets around on crutches and in a wheel chair he still trains dispite his suffering. Ronnie is 60 years old now and still recognized as one of the most famous body builders ever.

Thank you for this video. I try to watch this topic in order to keep myself from falling into that trap. I had a heart attack seven years ago that was stress-related, not PEDs; I've never taken them before, but I'm often tempted. Watching videos on this topic keeps me clean.
I'm surprised Rich Piana wasn't mentioned; he didn't have a violent history, but he was huge and his demise was definitely caused by chemicals he ingested.

When I was an insecure, 5' 11", 135 lb teenager I really wanted to take steroids to build muscle. Thank God I didn't know where to obtain them. In my early 20s my metabolism slowed and over a few years I built to 215 lbs, naturally. The hardest part was eating more than I was used to. I've recently started lifting again, at 54 years old. The muscle came back fast. After 9 months I feel like I am at around 70% of where I was at in my 20s. I think I can get to the same size, only with the usual old man look. :)

I wish people would get it threw their heads that you cannot look like these people without the help of anabolic steroids. There is nothing natural about these bodybuilders. The human body was not made to perform like this. It was not made for high dose testosterone. or lifting these kinds of weight. The sport offers nothing but death through pharmacy. These bodybuilders are so picky about what they eat and put into their bodies but when it comes to steroids that many don't know where they came from throwing caution to the wind and stab themselves with dirty needles. The worse thing is when you stop using steroids, everything will catch up with you and then some. You will be paying with your life. At 50 y/o, you will look like an 85 year old man or woman.

it is frightening just how far people will take things. these people seem to have little to no insight into what they do and why. they don't just damage themselves but the people who love them. not just those who are murdered but other loved ones who get neglected or abused and the ones they leave behind when they die. it is a strange paradox that the fitness models followed by body-builders and other athletes so often do more medical damage than suffered by non-athletes. muscle bulk is the end result of muscle damage and the stress on joints leaves many crippled. the extreme diets promote heart and kidney disease. heaven help the ones who use drugs such as steroids. i was a nurse for many years and I saw the effects of large steroid doses given under close medical supervision and i hate to think what unregulated, self-administered steroid use could do. steroid use is very complex and should only be done with prescription for health reasons as the risks are real. the irony of fitness obsessed people being so very unfit, mentally and physically, is huge. sometimes being a bit lazy is the healthier option.

I used to strength train 35+ years ago. To give you an idea, I'm 5'2, I was benching 250lbs, preacher curling 130lbs, calf pressing 800lbs., ect. I was lifting way too heavy for my body and I paid the price. I was diagnosed with OA (Osteoarthritis) in my 20's, now I'm 55 and my spine is messed up and I'm in pain all of the time.
Here's the thing, sure our muscles can take the weight but our joints can't. Our bodies are just not meant to lift that crazy heavy weight. And no I never used anything even though I had one idiot who wanted to train me and put me on PEDs. Nope. 🏋️‍♀️
I dated a guy who had pure natural muscle talent and just about ruined his life at 16....he had a stroke. It took months for his face to get back to normal. Then he got popped for selling to an undercover and to this day is still in prison because he keeps fighting in there and stacking on more time. Yeah, he's not too bright. 🙄

I am in my 70"s and still cranking the iron. Thought about rode's in the early 90's while in completion and took Winstrol for the cuts. did a couple of cycles. But too the advice of body builders that had went overboard with their use and found themselves with cancers of all types. Most of them are dead now. But I am still alive and kicking and training now a little differently using kettlebells, mace, and heavy clubs. I believe that all the body builders here spoke about that are now dead went way too far and paid the price. I still see the Wanta bees, that train day in and day out and eventually will start taking body enhancing drugs. I also do landmines along with the iron. i have been a Gym Rat for most of my life and it has paid me well. thank for this flick. hope those that think muscle drugs are the way to go will think again before they enter into that realm. EAT CLEAN, TRAIN CLEAN AND YOU WILL BE CLEAN INSIDE AND OUT AND THE PEOPLE AT LARGE WILL BE INPRESSED AND WANT WHAT YOU HAVE.

There is a point where you lose complete control over anything you are addicted to. Every time, no matter what. I don't use, but it's always been in the back of my head. I look at people that have been able to cycle correctly, and they live a strong, healthy, long life. Could I do that? Probably not, so I keep it in the back of my head. Stuff today, is easier, stronger, and in different shapes and sizes. Meaning: you can get anything you want, that will do anything you want to your body. Probably not worth it, unless you are "dead" set on being the next Arnold, and being gone by 40.
