Before I knew it boom there it was blue lights in my rearview. This was my first time ever being pulled over and me being a broke senior in high school thought how am I gonna pay this citation and how many points is this gonna take off my perfect driving record. Officer walks up and says, "son do you know how fast you were going." I said," I was going 60 in a 45 sir." I didnt even realize that I just fully admitted guilt because he didn't even clock me, but I explained my reasoning behind the speeding and he said," when i was in school and I went to my girlfriends house I used to always be late home and i would try to make up for it by speeding, but much like you I found myself on the side of the road with blue lights in my rearview, since you were honest with me and showed respect much like I did when i was in your shoes im letting you go with a verbal warning and hopefully a lesson on how to leave your girls house on time." And a lesson he taught I now leave well ahead of time and I have stopped speeding (for the most part 😉). Well, except on open well lit highway where I let the horses run free.

      If the officer sees you digging around in your car while they are sitting behind you, they will assume that you are either trying to hide evidence, or get weapons.
      It's NOT a smart thing to do lol
      Best is to turn on the interior lights, and sit still with your hands on the wheel, and then do what he did and inform them of everything, get permission, and move slowly.
      If you are able to do it while you are pulling over and they can't see you, that's one thing, but the less moving you do without their permission, the less likely you are to get shot, dragged out of the car, searched, or have a nervous officer show up not sure what they are walking into.

    • @SaltyChip
      @SaltyChip Před 3 lety +1

      It's better to just turn your car off, roll down the window and place hands on wheel. Any type of moving around in the car can be marked as suspicious as in reaching for a gun or dumping drugs. I used to get my registration before the cops got their until one cop was pissed and told me to just wait for him to grab it.

He heard a loud exhaust, pulled him for it, lied about the other charges to intimidate him and paint himself as a good guy when he gave him the exhaust ticket.

Too bad for him he didn't bother to show up, and I got all 3 tickets he had issued dismissed for lack of evidence. He had even stopped 2 other vehicles at the same time btw. Presumably those drivers were in court that day, but I am sad to report that every single other defendant charged by this cop plead guilty in return for reduced fines and points when they could have simply said "innocent" unopposed. The judge did make me wait while he went down the alphabet through his docket and called me back up after everyone else had left, but the cop still hasn't arrived. The judge was infuriated! The line of people waiting their turn to pay fines at the clerk's window didn't seem amused as I advised them while walking by, "You all should have plead not guilty."

    I was driving along US-25 on my way to Augusta to visit some friends. On my way down a half dozen times before I'd happened upon a gas station that sold the at that time new to the area Arizona Green Tea and I'd bought a fair few for my friends to try out and they loved it as much as I did. This ended becoming a regular thing given that for some odd reason this was the only place that sold them and this one trip was no different. As I was rolling through this little backwater town I was finishing off one of the two bottles that I'd bought for myself and the Sheriff's Deputy who was on patrol saw me do it and immediately gave chase. When he came up to the window I confusingly asked what the problem was because in a Ford Festiva I was doing excessive speeds ( great mileage though ) and all the other possible citable things were in the green. He responded that he pulled me over for drinking while driving. I was dumbfounded and pointed to the empty bottle in my passenger seat that was laying beside the bag with the other unopened ones " Do you mean this? " he nodded so I pulled a full one out for him to inspect. Admittedly as colorful as this bottle is it's easy to think that it might be an adult drink. He looked this bottle up one side and down the other repeatedly trying to find any hint of alcohol in its ingredients but when he was satisfied there were none he handed it back to me and told me to have a nice trip. I whewed and went on my merry way.
