Eight Options for Water Systems | Van Build

Water! We gotta have it! And as a van lifer, you have to figure out how you’re going to carry it and how you're going to access it. From refilling 1-gallon jugs with the advanced move of filtering it through a Berkey to a 4o-gallon tank installed in the back, this video highlights eight different solutions to the water issue so you can find a solution that will work for you.

Interesting to see all the different options! We have a 10 gallon water tank with an electric pump. It runs mostly on solar and we don’t use it for drinking so 10 gallons lasts us a while.

Water is the primary thing! My own van build in the works totally incorporates a large 40 gals capacity, hot water tank included, and grey tank underneath on a ball valve. This isn’t hard to do since it’s just 12 volt to empty, and I feel confident about staying out 2 weeks off grid.

thank you for this video! I'm trying to figure out a better water system right now. Would you mind showing or explaining how you secure the berkey to the wall? I'm considering a similar set up but I'm having trouble figuring out how to secure it while I'm driving. I already store my crock pot express in the sink otherwise I'd put it in there!

I'm nowhere near convinced that a Berkey is worth fifty bucks but I do know it's a huge waste of space. On the rare occasions that I do filter my water I only trust MSR to add the job. I use the "direct delivery" method of supplying water. I twist the lid off a gallon jug and pour. No batteries, switches or pumps to take up space or fail!!
