    ACRS (not active at the moment) can be switched off via lower control pane switch system select to Both and cyclic trim auto (not active at present).

    Great video. Thanks. A quick suggestion for flying the fire-fighting missions. You have the option to "load" the bucket near the fire location. You can then "pickup" the bucket in the same manner. That way you don't have to fly an extended distance with the bucket hanging. Just find nearby water, fill the bucket, and go put the fire out. Thanks again.

      Thanks I'll try that.

      Came here to say this, the bucket would disconnect when I breathed on it at odiham but if I flew down to eglc I had no trouble if I picked it up there

    One of best rides yet crazy when they do a combat landing and gunner locks and loads

    Fortunately ,Hud, the fire is not anywhere near Oldham in Lancashire. The flight starts at ODIHAM in Hampshire, where I flew Vampires many years ago!

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  Před 3 měsíci

      Yes fortunately - carrying that damn Bucket from Lancashire to London City would be one heck of a chore 😂
      My mistake, thanks for the correction 👍

    I love seeing these helicopters at air displays - their sheer size and versatility always astounds me. I've heard that the Chinook doesn't need constant rudder input due to the counter-rotating rotor blades, unlike most other helicopters, which appeals to me. I was going to get the Cowan 206L3 to go with my VelocityOne Flightstick but now this has come out and you recommend it, I'm giving that a rethink. (Besides, a Chinook in my hanger compared to a 206L3 would help me keep up appearances. 😉) Thank you for the video - as always, it is enjoyable to watch and informative.

      I think you'll enjoy the ride and great play on words 😉

      You don't have rudder pedals on a helicopter, they're anti-torque pedals! But yes, the counter-rotating blades effectively cancel out the torque you experience on other helicopters (which is why they have the tail rotor), although you'll still need to control the cyclic, collective and torque to some extent throughout - that's just helicopters!
      Incidentally, if you're thinking of getting a 206, if recommend the Flyinside version - it's a much more realistic version than the Cowan, and much more satisfying to fly.

      @@wombleway As you can probably tell, I've never flown a helicopter in real life and only dabbled with the Guimbal Cabri in MSFS to see if I could control it. (I could, so I've decided to dabble some more; watch out everyone below me - in fact, everyone in my vicinity!) Thank you for your help and recommendation!

      @@richavery66 I didn't want to assume!! 😄 The nice thing with the Flyinside models is that they have their own built-in tweaking settings (directly accessible from the cockpit) so you can ramp up the settings initially, and drop them down as you get more comfortable with the aircraft.
      Enjoy the choppers!

    Miltech needs to add another mission. Hoist the 155mm arty howitzer and makes emergency hoist release key available.

    It's RAF Odiham, Huddison 😂 So do you think you'll start flying helicopters on a regular basis now, or is it still a bit of a magical art (like patting your head whilst rubbing your stomach, every bit of you is doing something different at the same time!) They'll get easier the more you fly them, honest - take a look at the Flyinside models (either the Bell 206 or 47G) on the marketplace if you fancy treating yourself, by far the most realistic flight models for helicopters in the sim so far. 👍🏼

      120 Knots is max speed with the bucket empty attached, I assume this is much less when full of water. You also got to watch the bank / turn rates with hoisted loads. Great video though, this helicopter is such an iconic beauty!
