My 85 year old Aunty started Paxlovid on day 4 ,She had laryngitis cough, sore throat, sweats, aches, about 6 out of 10 for discomfort, 12 hours after paxlovid symptoms started going. 18 hours later most symptoms gone, 24 hours all symptoms gone , no rebound, negative rat test on day 7. Very happy with result.😊🌏

I was prescribed Paxlovid two days ago after having Covid for 4 days. For reference, I was vaccinated with Moderna and received a Pfizer booster. Covid knocked me down very quickly and I was becoming extremely ill when I caved and got a prescription.
I had a persistent fever over 100, a headache I could not get to go away, and it was becoming difficult for me to just walk around my house or take a shower without running out of breath. I finally called my doctor when I started feeling crackling in my chest and difficulty having conversations for very long.
He prescribed me Paxlovid and by my 3rd dose, I was feeling markedly better. Fever dropped away and I was feeling it easier to breathe by the second dose. I just took my 4th dose and can’t believe how much better I feel compared to a couple of days ago. I am still coughing, but the goop in my lungs has decreased significantly and I was hungry for the first time in almost a week.
The biggest side effect is the nasty taste in your mouth and it’s pretty brutal. You go from not tasting or smelling anything at all, to having a taste in your mouth like you chewed up the medicine with grapefruit peel in your mouth. It’s disgusting and i can’t wait for it to go away, but in my case it was worth the benefit. The next step for me would have been the hospital for sure and I was able to avoid that. I’ll update my comment if I end up with any Covid resurgence after my 5th day…
    Hope this helps.

I think the reason why you were put on Paxlovid is because of the crackling in your lungs. I think you could have been well on your way to getting pneumonia. Not all Covid symptoms are this serious. When you are immune compromised or have serious symptoms, this medication makes sense.

I’m 69 YO, healthy, and vaxed and boosted twice. Came down with COVID on Feb 25, 2024 (day 1). Dr prescribed Paxlovid that night. Started feeling noticeably better on day 3 and was asymptomatic on day 5. Finished 5-day Paxlovid course and felt recovered. Finally tested negative on day 10. Last night (day 11) started feeling bad again and tested positive. In bed today (day 12) and quite ill with a low grade fever and horrible head cold symptoms. Clearly this is Paxlovid rebound. Hoping this second round is short lived and I can get back to normal. COVID still sucks!

Started Paxlovid on the evening of 7/28. Starting 4th dose tonight and I’m feeling a lot better. Some light fatigue, no fever, no cough or congestion. I do get the metallic taste for a few hours after taking the medication. I don’t have any other health issues. Im staying hopeful I won’t rebound but after seeing this video and reading comments, I won’t be surprised if it does happen. I think I was exposed Sunday or Monday. Monday and Wednesday I tested negative, Friday was positive.

During the day Friday I felt bad but not super terrible. Friday night I felt super terrible and had 102 fever. Around 5:00 a.m. I was able to fall asleep pretty well and slept until noon Sat at which time I felt 30% recovered.
It was really strange how quickly I began to feel terrible and then how much better I felt when I woke up Saturday afternoon. Now it's late Saturday night and I'm kind of surprised that I don't feel more tired and my headache's not really killing me anymore. I think I'm recovering pretty quickly thanks to the pax. @@iamdjm I can actually testify this antiviral medication 💊 works EXTREMELY WELL on the elderly.... it has saved many grandparents lives..... even the very frail. I know some who are so sick and frail in general that covid-19 would have killed them all and yet the minute they were given this medication immediately reversed the effects of covid, and turned it into a not much more than a cold while their younger counterparts in the same household got extremely sick and bedridden for a week with very high temperatures, and then needed a few weeks to recover fully, and had to go through a lot of unnecessary suffering.... I believe that these antivirals should be made available to everybody who wants them. I can understand that they are complicated to make and very expensive and they are keeping them for the elderly which is wonderful because many elderly have survived as have many sick people with all sorts of comorbidities, but it should be open up for everybody who wants it and production needs to be ramped-up. Covid-19 is not going anywhere and it is going to become seasonal..... yes we need to learn to live with it, but this needs to be one of the ways for those who choose to want to take this medication. Paxlovid works a bit better than Molnupiravir and in my opinion, much safer in its action.....

Why should rebound become a criterion for denying Paxlovid when the original study clearly shows a dramatic benefit in lowering hospitalizations and preventing death?
Doesn't rebound make sense for this kind of drug, since without the drug any remaining virus will have greater efficacy in replicating? But Paxlovid interfered with the growth cycle long enough to allow the immune system to mount a more effective response. The worst symptoms are therefore avoided.

The only side effect was the bitter taste for a while, but I rather deal with that than the continuous coughing, sore throat and heavy headaches. For me it worked I in my 70s. @@robertk2007 BS. I am also a doctor and had covid recently. In the Pfizer trial (which clearly you NEVER read), the rebound rate for placebo was 1.5%. So, yes, rebound without taking paxlovid is extremely uncommon. The chief of Infectious Diseases at UCSF, Dr. Robert Wachter, estimates the Paxlovid rebound numbers at 20%. His wife unfortunately rebounded after taking Paxlovid. So you'd best quit posting, before you look even more foolish than you do now.

@@robertk2007 I’ve worked in healthcare for twenty years and I’ve never seen a rebound occurrence once it has run its course in someone.
The only two times we’ve seen it is with vaccinated individuals who took Paxlovid. They had the same level of symptoms for three days a week later. This is what this video was expressly stating.
You don’t even state where you obtained your ‘information’ 🤦🏻

Has it been tested???? I won't take anything that hasn't been tested. This sounds like I'll wait and see.

It was tested, with the stipulations that Dr. Risinger pointed out. But it was tested on only a small subset of patients that 90% of us don't fulfill (unvaccinated and covid naive). There are studies going on to look at it's benefit in vaccinated patients, but early results look bad.

Why are some people so opposed to anybody taking Paxlovid? Are some people tainted with the idea that Paxlovid is worse than Covid systoms? It seems like it according to some attitudes about the drug.

go read the drug interactions, life threatening side effects and many medical conditions that's prevents you taking the drug. Besides all that, fine forget people were promised if they got vaccinated, they would not get sick. It was all a lie. So very many people have woken up, no longer blindly trust doctors or the medicines they are prescribing. This paxlovid rebound effect is extremely concerning. I would never take this drug.

I rebounded with a vengeance. 21 days testing positive now (vaccines and all). My rebound is now responsible for 12 days itself.

Doubt my comment will remain, but the side effects are horrendous. It’s bad enough you already feel worse than you have ever felt in life, then the meds only make it even worse. You can’t eat, as all foods taste like roadkill. The diarrhea, and abdominal pain is excessive to say the least. May work for some folks, but for those that it doesn’t, I feel for them. We expected something to make us feel better, not worse.

But you had a lot of confidence in the past administration were the main guy was telling you to get injected with bleach to kill the virus or encouraged people to take a horse medication with no prior studies to help fight the virus huh i bet you were very confident then 🙄
