I used to teach Women’s Self Defense. When out in public I’d advise be aware of everything around you when you’re out. But don’t become paranoid. Just start checking around you as a matter of course.
If you are walking quickly as if you know where you’re going, you are less likely to be bothered.

ok maybe you could start marking your house with the symbols that would tell burglars that the house is not for them tricking burglars.
if i was a car designer/maker i would but in a sensor that if the lock fails the alarm would sound backfiring the tactic on the criminal.
And to prevent tail gaters: Drill a hole in an object that could cause damage to the vehicle behind you, like a tool box for example if you drive a pick up. Secure it to the bed to prevent it from actually falling off, but loose enough to make the tail gater think it will, and strike their car. Watch how fast they back off and give you room. HAHAHAHAHA.
Weld a 24 inch pipe wrench to the bumper. They'll back off.

How does a thief take a car if a person has the keys? Even if the door was not locked (because of a coin) the car shouldn't start without the keys.
I don't think you could drive away without the key's,regarding the coin in the door, but they could steal your contents I suppose.
a coworker once told me she dropped her bf off and drove the car home just to realize he had the keyless keys with him. but that was a few years ago

Follow up: Noted: single person across the hall from me on 2nd floor has the number "2" placed pn the threshold door; the single person upstairs with 2 teenagers has a "1" etched into the wooden part of the threshold; each number presents itself on the opposite side of the doorknob; no other apt door or area have a number out of the 17 apts within the bldg; all marked doors belong to 3 ppl of one color; all 3 ppl have experienced auto theft, auto damage, auto break ins, personal theft, theft, auto sabotage, and pet damage....hmmmm...🤔
