Veer Savarkar spent 12 years in the most inhuman jail for political prisoners. I am sure all these guys mocking him will not be able to endure even 12 minutes in that jail.

True. No one can. But NOBODY asked him to jump into the freedom struggle either. He did it of his own adult accord. What did he think? He was going to be held at a 5 star? Savarkar promised the British to create discord and disharmony in the society so that they do not unite, get busy fighting a communal civil war within themselves and do not fight off the British .

@@imtihadkk2093 that's exactly the point. Either you take up a cause by knowing fully well the consequences or just don't commit. Savarkar didn't just apologise . If it was left at that ,it could still be overlooked. He struck a deal with the British that he would create communal tensions against the minorities and create a gulf between religions. He would attack the minority religious establishments in and around his area with sticks and stones , give incendiary speeches, and stir many local fights. Just so that all the people from all walks and religions do not unite to fight off the British in the ongoing freedom struggle. What a waste of a human life. Utter waste.

When Nehru was arrested by the British and was sentenced to 2 years of jail, he was so disturbed by the experience of the jail (which was not even close to the cruelty of Kala Pani) that he requested his powerful lawyer father, Motilal Nehru to get him out of there. On the plea of his father to the Britishers, he wrote an apology letter to the British and got out in just 3 days!
Now imagine the audacity of someone calling Veer Savarkar a coward who spent more than a decade in Kala Pani!!!

As a student of pre-independence history. Let me state some facts.
Q1 did Savarkar write letters to British seeking forgiveness.
Ans. Yes he did. So did all the revolutionaries arrested during 1915 Gadar. That includes Srishnath Sanyal. Sanyal was let off in a similar way as Savarkar.
Sanyal gathered revolutionaries and started H R A. Bismil, Azad, Bhagat Singh were members of this organisation
Q2. Did Savarkar participate in anti- British activities after he got free?
Ans. Absolutely…
He secretly was still involved in revolutionary activities. Rajguru was one of his disciples.
When Durga Bhabhi attacked and fired at the Lamington rd police station in Mumbai, she was accompanied by another Savarkar's disciple. Even her son was with Savarkar at this very time.
Elder brother of Savarkar had met Azad in Benares and helped him with money.
Azad was planning to shift to Maharashtra, when he had found that there was some mole in his organisation. But before he could shift base, he was surrounded and shot himself.
Savarkar had even asked the revolutionaries to assasinate Jinna, in the year 1930 or 31. Which Azad had turned down.
Indian guns were being prepared at behest of Savarkar. All the time him remaining under observation of British.
Savarkar also got his men in Indian army and tried to show support to British during second world war. The real plan was to infiltrate the ranks and get the Indian's in British Indian Army to revolt as they had done in 1847. ( Don't forget Savarkar had studied the 1847 mutiny really well to have written the First war of Independence).
The switchovers and mutinies did happen. It was Ras Bihari Bose the leader of previous independence movement in 1915 who was in Japan and preparing to get Indian soldiers on their side.
Ras Bihari Bose, Sachindra Nath Sanyal, Savarkar and several were all interconnected.
Netaji Subhash Bose took over from Ras Bihari Bose…..
The Navy mutinees of 1946 and ground troops refusing command to fire at them. This was the main nail in coffin for British Empire!
So Savarkar had a huge role to play!
