    First off, congratson 385K Subs!!!
"SOOOOO FILIPINO." I love that. YOU, Bret, are actually so Filipino yourself! In my heart, you are Part-Filipino. The way you just relish every moment, every bite; your pinoy accent is SO GOOD (seriously), your curiosity... Your love for Filipino culture (or any culture), is as you say, sooo PURE. And those boys, THEY LOVE YOU. They treat you like a younger brother (Kumar making the sikwate, Jandi offering you the fish eye even if that's his fave part of the fish, them joking about "Poke" hahaha it's a female part hahaha!)... THEY LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU. Where you are now, living by the beach, away from all pollution--physical and emotional--is where most people want to be. PROVINCIAL LIFE IS THE BEST. You make me miss the PH, but I am living vicariously thru you. THANK YOU, BRET. MAHAL KA NAMIN!

Philippines is a wonderful place to live in. As long as you embrace the life here with all your heart without any expectations, keep on doing things that you love and loving the people around, there are endless learnings that can be of advantage to a person's growth (knowing the difference between being happy in a simple things and the happiness of having too much of material things). At the end of the day, it is the memories that will linger on in our minds.

The reason you never experienced anything like Chocolate in Canada is because most chocolate sold in the west is milk chocolate which is a mixture of the cocoa solids you were using, cocoa butter, sugar and condensed milk. I did a tour of the Hersey’s factory and saw how it was produced. They grind it with rolling stone wheels in a process called “conching”.
My wife who is from Mactan, Cebu says her mother would feed her and her siblings Chocolate porridge for breakfast saying it would make them smarter. It apparently worked because she became doctor. 😊

It's Poke. Pronounced Poh-keh. Not Poki. Hi Hawaii, we don't use coconut milk or suka, but we mainly use sesame oil, soy sauce and onions. Many different kinds of poke, like octopus, raw crab, ahi. Sometimed we put limu which is seaweed. Many variations...or baraiety. LOL! I'd love to try the Philippines version.🤙🤙🤙

I like the idea of putting the GoPro to the “mananggiti” and see the his perspective when going up the coconut tree. I think that’s the first video I’ve seen who did that. Good job Bret. Halong…..

Coconut categories by color of fruit:
Brown- old and good for extracting coconut milk, coconut oil, and kopra
Green- Sweet and the usual type
Orange- Sweeter than green ones and quite uncommon, about 20/100 coconut trees
Pink- Sweetest and quite rare coconut, about a dozen per 100 coconut trees but depends, most found in the coastline
Edit: Got this info from my uncle who's a coconut farmer.

Bread dipping in chocolate drinks or coffee is a very traditional thing and way of life seeing it from my parents, relatives, and friends doing the stuff even since childhood. Hehehehe
