Unboxing The FM Gammon Mini Nature Backgammon Board

- In this video, I unbox my new @fmgammonboards9051 mini nature backgammon board. This board is FM Gammon's version of a travel luxury board. If you enjoy that characteristic FM Gammon checker and dice clacking sound on a wooden frame AND you are looking for a nice travel set, this may be the board for you.

I have this one and I love it. I glued some fabric into the cups myself, and got a case for the checkers and 12,7mm precision dice from Galaxy. It works perfectly.
Thanks for watching and for commenting! As a prototype I expected some flaws but was blown away by just how little flaws there actually were. The positives of this board blew me away. I cannot wait to see what the final version of this board will be when officially released! Cheers
@@spentgrain I was talking about the FM Mini Board 😆 But I got the Nova Nebula too.
I made the purchase of this board now. It was a battle between this one and the adventure board from Galaxy. But due to the price range, I couldn’t spend $250-$300 more for a very similar board, it didn’t feel good. I can live without the checker box and the bag that’s included in the adventure board. I made a purchase of a couple of precision dice (12.7mm) from Galaxy, though. I hope they will fit well into this FM Gammon board. I love the colors of the checkers, they remind me of coffee and cookies. So this board will be used on a beach bar or a cafe, so the colors will fit into very, very well. Looking forward for it.

You are so right about the checkers…mocha and latte 🙂 A friend made me a wooden checker box similar to the one that comes with the earth board and is the same height as this board. It works out great. My wife and I play on it often.

@@spentgrain I will. Thanks for sharing this video, it made my decision a lot easier. Now I will not have to carry around my Nova board (also purchased for a very reasonable price) whenever Im going for a short trip or even a cafe or bar. I tried it for a couple of times, but it was like walking around like a Russian hitman with that board in my hands.
I also noticed you purchased the Nova board, may I ask if the dice cups are the same dimensions as on the cups on the Mini Nature board? Or are they bigger?
My Nova board dice cups appear a little taller and they are wrapped in that fake leather. I have not put them side by side to see the size comparison though. I love that Nova board. A great board for an awesome price. Gotta love the prototype deals 😂

Which color scheme did you get for the Nova board?
Great unboxing! Some questions:
1. How do you like it after having it a few months? Is it holding up well? Any dings or scratches?
2. Is the carry bag decent or does it seem cheap?
3. With the components all being stored inside the bag that moves around inside, is it causing any wear to the surface or rails?
4. Are you finding that due to its small size that the dice go off the board a lot when you roll them?
5. Do you think a baffle box would work ok with it for dice or is it too small?

1. Love it! It is holding up well. My wife and I just took it on a camping trip which we play on in a video I just uploaded. Check it out if you have a chance.
2. The carry bag is very inexpensive and flimsy. I purchased a leather computer bag from Amazon which works much better.
3. I had also purchased a leather pencil case which held all the checkers, cube, and dice nicely. However, a buddy of mine in our local club has a friend who made a beautiful wooden bear off tray that now holds everything, which you can also see in the new video.
4. I do not have any major issues with the dice with that board.
5. Baffle box would be fun, but I am just as happy with dice cups.

The face cam was my phone as was the audio. Actually worked out pretty good.

Is there any latching mechanism? The website says no magnet, does it just freely swing open?
It does have a single magnet to help it stay closed.
I noticed the same information on their website, but after reading it a couple of times, it’s a minor texting error. They probably meant it’s no clasp, but with magnet with their ‘clasp style: NO magnet’ texting.
Considering this board as well. But still undecided between this one and the adventure board from Backgammon Galaxy. Price absolutely favours this one, but I love the colors of the adventure boards.
