    Lived around the corner from this store. I loved walking across the street to shop and also Radio Shack at the other end of this building.

      My Childhood Kmart was white with a big gray awning thing, I've seen a few other k marts like it, mine opened around 1989, so I'm guessing it's what Kmarts looked like in the 1980s lol

    I miss Kmarts. I remember when this one was first opened. One of my friends and I went to the massive clearance sales at the nasty one further down Rt. 8. So it was so nice when the new one opened.

    I shopped at KMart in the 1970s, as the Weirton,WV KMart opened for business in 1974. That was back when KMart had the cafeteria in the store. The aesthetics have changed over the years. Have a KMartlicious Day! Stay awesome!

    Steel Cage match between you and Fast Eddie. You'd win in a match that Lasts nine seconds. You'd growl at Eddie and he'll cry like a baby.
    It's sad to see so many closed retailers and restaurants. As Bradley set it was busy so why close a good profitable store. He didn't care. He just wants the $$$$$$. #fastEddieforjail
    Awesome photos Bradley. It's important to document these places in any form because the world is not just stupid WalMart.

    It was built before the late-90's, because it has both the Antonini curve, and former red lines from the early-90's, before they became Big Kmart in the late-90's.

    @jackson5116 Před 5 lety +3

    8:31 I'll tell you the exact logic, because I figured it out when they sold the lease on Norridge, Illinois one (that was another top performer in the company). They do it, because they sell the lease/land. Doesn't matter if the store is the top performing store in the chain, if Fast Eddie can get money from selling its lease/land, he'll do it in a heartbeat. You know Guam's store? That was company owned, and now the division of the company that owns the land just "bought" it from Guam (just transferred ownership to their real estate division), putting them under a lease now, meaning if ANYONE offers him money for that lease or the land- BOOM, Guam's WILL close! That's easily the highest store in the chain, but all Fast Eddie cares about is making money from its land, he doesn't care about the company, that's abundantly clear the way he's running it.

    How far from the nearest Walmart is this store? And what about the nearest Target? While I do love Big Lots, I would be sad if that now is the only discount department store (if we can even call it that) for this town. Interestingly the Kmart opened less than a year before the Jamesway chain went out of business (but perhaps the Jamesway in Franklin closed before the chain came to a final end, because there were MANY Jamesway stores which closed between 1991 and 1994 as well) I suppose the proximity of an existing Walmart or Kmart stopped AMES from acquiring more former Jamesway stores. There were only a small handful of Jamesway-to-Ames conversions even though almost all the Jamesway sites would have seemed perfect for Ames, except perhaps those Jamesway stores where Ames was already nearby and had no reason to move.

    I can safely say that Kmart location could be used again. It is still in pristine condition and very little amounts of work would be needed. But I wouldn't wait too long because, if it sits abandoned for too long, it will start looking like the Bradlees and Aims. Buildings don't age well when sitting empty and abandoned. But this location has a lot of life left in it.

Come on there already was a U-Haul up the street from Liverpool you don’t need another U-Haul who cares about a Climate controlled storage bin that’s just a waste you could’ve left big lots move in there and had a bigger big lots. Or you could’ve let Occ college move in there and make classrooms out of it for the Liverpool branch.
