Trivia for this episode. Alec Guiness did a Father Brown movie in the 1950's. This movie was based on GK Chesterton work. This movie had an impact on the conversion of Alec Guiness to Catholicism. I personally think that Alec's catholcism is reflected in his Obi Wan Kenobi role in the original Star Wars movies.

Cryin' shame I wasn't exposed to any of his works at all in school/college, and part of my major was English literature. Didn't go to any Christian universities, so I guess it's no surprise. 😔

Totally agree!!! I am near 60 and just learning of Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, and Tolkien. These were modern prophet and our ignorance of them is why we are in the mess we are!!!!
I read C.S. Lewis (besides Chronicles of Narnia), and Tolkien, but the most I'd ever read of Chesterton was the odd quote of the day here and there. No mention of who he was, or why he was worth quoting.

One of my frustrations that here in Jacksonville, we don't have a local Chesterton society, I have to drive down to Winter Park to attend theres. So it was great to hear this episode of locals who get Chesterton. Thank you!

1) did GK write anything about St Joseph? 2) any canonised Saints who go by their initials? 3) why not in person or at least by Zoom? Was difficult to hear your guest with voice only and it sounded far away from you guys. Need better audio next time please if just a phone-in please. 4) as this is the Catholic (Universal) Talk Show, I’m happy to see you’ve made it across the pond to England now. The Holy Catholic faith has encountered and overcome many of the tactics of the 'many antichrists' (1John ch2). Perhaps some people are unaware that the 'many antichrists' who say they do not take oaths or swear on earth, actually swear and tell deceitful lies to the heavens with oaths so as to appear true but are not; now even the heavens are asking them 'who, what, when, where, why, who told you that, and how' so as to ascertain if they are slandering and defaming unsuspecting Christians. However, doing our part, we Christians must now also pray in the holy name of Jesus Christ against every tactic of the 'many antichrists'.

Father Richard I love to listen to y’all I am not catholic but my wife is I grew up what most catholic would call Protestant but I myself would not claimed to be Protestant I have a master degree in theology and philosophy and I am looking into maybe becoming catholic but would like to have a theological discussion about the differences and hopefully get a better understanding of some of the difference not looking to argue just understand some things better I love history and actually four of my favorite philosophers are catholic saint Augustine saint Francis of Assisi saint Thomas aquinas and of course C.S. Lewis so also was a big fan of Pope Benedict xvi

Babu Owino, these are the kind of presentations you should do in Parliament with your Azimio brigade instead of destroying a fragile economy with maandamanos that prevent & scare people from going to work or opening their businesses.
Hence, your right to protest must be done responsibly & not intentionally or unintentionally destroy our weak economy.
In opposition you certainly have your right to speak & have your say but GOK in power has the right to choose which ever political philosophy they weigh would best suite their manifesto & policies that will deliver to Kenyans.
But for sure, keep the debate going as it keeps Kenyans informed on different perspectives & what is better or less advantageous based on data & not hot air politics.

Can you please address his use of pejorative words in his writings. I have reconciled and accept his (and Lewis’) usage based on a different time and reality but I do flinch whenever I hear/read “Dago” “Nigger” and unflattering descriptions of non-white cultures. In his work. 🙏🏼
Seems you answered it yourself. It was not a derogatory term at the time. And his unflattering descriptions of other cultures is a strange comment. Provide an example and why you disagree with his assessment otherwise you are just attacking a great man’s character. To waste time discussing a word used here is very derivative, misses the mark by a mile.
