I love Carmen , I’ve been to several concerts of her , she did concerts in Paris and London too , been there too while I was living in London . She’s from Catania , like me , I’ve met her several time , her son and my niece have played together at the park . In this video she was 27 and it was the 2002 concert of the Greek amphitheater or Taormina . She started playing music with her band at 13 in the pubs of Catania ( in the Wikipedia in English there is a mistake , she didn’t start playing guitar at 15 , she started basically when she was a baby nearly , her dad was a guitarist himself ) , she writes music and lyrics . She has been inspired by Aretha Franklin when she was a child . Catania is a very artistic city . Has produced some big musician in Italy . Carmen is very proud of her “sicilianity” and often makes jokes in Catania dialect , even when she’s in the north of Italy . She has two souls , a more folk and a rock one .

The first part was the instrumental theme from the film. Carmen's song played during the closing credits (if I remember correctly). In the lyrics she quotes the song "Piove (Ciao ciao bambina)" by Domenico Modugno, the famous singer of "Nel blu dipinto di blu" (better known perhaps as "Volare")

Carmen Consoli is a quite particular italian singer, not very successful lately but very much admired. You should react to her beautiful song "Guarda l'alba" (search the official videoclip) written together one of the most important modern italian singers Tiziano ferro.
I don’t know what do you mean for not very successful lately , she is considered one of the best female songwriter/musicians that we have in Italy . She’s not commercial , but that doesn’t mean not be successful .

Carmen Consoli is a true jem, she has skills, taste, talent, very unique voice her composions are true poetry and she can sing basically anything, she is also very ironic and never takes herself too seriously like other artists seems to do sometimes, Too overlooked for her real value she's always been too good for the mainstream area and too Italian for a certain alternative rock scenario where definitely she deserves to appear.
