You are right, the spalted wood for the top hat is a real looker, and as always, you have got such a great eye for the perfect shape and size, always a pleasure to watch indeed ☺️👏🏻 Very sorry to hear you have been down with the flu, I hope you have recovered 100% meanwhile. Here the weather has been much too warm for February, and today we have a very warm and strong wind blowing, but the birds have emptied all the food in the birds house which is a sure sign that the temperature is going to drop… So expecting rough weather for next week, I think… Expecting the kiddies for tomorrow, there are five now and No. 6 due in May 🫣 Three of each ☺️ Oh, an idea: An egg holder with like a wide base where you can put the spoon would be great 👍🏻☺️ And a second idea: a darning disc with an indent so you can put a spring around it to fix the fabric in place… You know, flat on the bottom and slightly rounded on top, but no “mushroom stem” if you like, round and a bit bigger in diameter than a darning mushroom would be, if you see what I mean.. Love the gonk, particularly the spalted top hat. I have difficulty finding spalted wood in Spain. I've made Vikings in similar fashion, I'll email you a couple of pics. Thanks for all the ideas and methods keep 'em coming.

I have never had any problems with ca glue sticking to a wax treated surface...
But it did have a reaction with the lacquered balloon.. hence the red all over my fingers...

Hi Andy, Love the gonks. New to the channel and I really liked the "spanner" trick to get to the correct diameter. I've never seen it done that way before, sorry if this is a silly question but are the spanners sharpened in any way?

You run a great channel ...... but what on earth is your issue with working in Sundays ............ many of us watching you have worked many a Sunday. Buck up & grow up.

I have worked Sundays & worked Sunday nights. Millions of us do these things, not because we love our jobs but because we appreciate having jobs. On my off days my dog & my lathe allow me to reset. If you have had your Ts &Cs changed then by all means be mad about it. But in this current monied climate, by all means put yourself in a position where your employer "Lets you go" ...... fine, fair enough. Please do not start putting out videos saying "Poor Me". Principles are great if you can afford them. I cannot. Please accept this as a honest reply. IT might be the best thing thats ever happened. Life can be like that. Good luck going forward.
