Chios - The Most Underrated Greek Island | Byzantine Nea Moni Monastery | Ferry from Turkey | Part 1

Welcome to one of the most underrated Greek islands of Chios. Chios, Greece is a beautiful, mountainous island in the Aegean Sea that can be reached by ferry via Çeşme, Turkey. We’ll visit the Nea Moni Monastery which showcases some of the best preserved Byzantine art, view seaside windmills, walk through the walls of the former castle to see Ottoman style architecture and visit an old Turkish bath. In addition, I’ll try some delicious Greek loukoumades and sip an ice cold freddo cappuccino. A couple of years back Chios was always in the news as being overrun with “asylum seekers” so tourists were not going there.

Oh, I hadn't heard of that before. We didn't notice any issues when we were there and I was actually surprised at how few tourists there were. Perhaps there have been some changes since then. Thanks for watching my video. I appreciate it :)
