- Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (also known as Furiosa) is a 2024 Australian post-apocalyptic action adventure film directed, co-written, and co-produced by George Miller, the fifth installment in the Mad Max franchise, serving as a prequel and spin-off to Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), focusing on the character Furiosa, originally portrayed by Charlize Theron, with Anya Taylor-Joy and Alyla Browne starring as younger versions of Furiosa, alongside Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke.

This movie is incredible. I'm kind of devastated that it's flopped on opening due to a lot of 'bad CGI' and 'slower than Fury Road' discourse. I honestly think this will have better rewatch power than Fury Road. I thought it was jaw-dropping.
Idk about that. Fury Road is supremely rewatchable _because_ it's not about the plot, it's about the journey and the experience of storytelling through action. It's a thrilling ride from start to finish. By being more plot-focused, less tension-driven and with action set pieces that aren't as good, I fear Furiosa will struggle in the rewatchability department.
Yes! I nearly screamed in the theatre when Jacob Tomuri as Mad Max did a cameo! Btw he's been Tom Hardy's stunt double for many years across many films now!
I also noticed the weird montage choice and at first I agreed with you like 'why didn't we get that??' but then I thought more about it and I actually kind of loved that they montaged the war between the two sides. It really drove home that this story isn't about that - we shouldn't care about that - it is all meaningless in Furiosa's mind. It really highlighted her perspective and drove home that the story was about her.
I don’t “care” who wins between Immortan Joe and Dementus but I DO care about seeing George Miller flex with these action sequences that corporate Hollywood completely fails to match the level of. 😎
So I never watched Fury Road but after watching this one I am excited to watch it.
I envy that you get to see Fury Road for the 1st time. One of my fav films.

Furiousa was intense! Had my heart beating for awhile afterwards. I was surprised how much was brought back from Fury Road.
Truly an incredible prequel that does so much to deepen the lore of Furiosa and I just know THAT SCENE from Fury Road is going to devastate me 100x worse whenever I rewatch it from now on. 🥺
I was so excited to see this in my subscriptions!! Clearly you have excellent taste that matches up really well with mine, and I really enjoyed this quick breakdown of the great things about the film and what left you wanting more. I am a massive fan of Fury Road, it's one of my all time favorite cinema experiences, and Furiosa somehow took that on another level. I loved it and I too hope that George Miller can continue making films in this incredible, artistic world he's built.

I hate to be this person... But as a HUUUGE fan of Fury Road, Furiosa was just _okay_ to me? Don't get me wrong, it could have been a lot worse and I enjoyed it for all the lore, but it didn't have the tight tension, action, stunts, pace, emotional depth or social commentary of Fury Road, aka the best movie ever made and one that still makes my heart pound every time I watch it. I loved everything with child Furiosa (kudos to Alyla) but once Anya took over I struggled to buy her as the same character Charlize (mother) created. She doesn't have the charisma of Theron or Hardy. Chris Hemsworth though - what a delight he was! Movie was better whenever he was onscreen.
Anyway, I'm glad Miller is making his unique bombastic epics and still adding a new genre of movie, a deeply personal tale, within the Mad Max world. I'll always have Fury Road to rewatch for the 100th time, and Furiosa has only made it a richer experience. I do hope he gets to make those sequels with Hardy and Theron because they're such physical performers and brilliant at raw action!
I logged Furiosa as a 4.5 and even though I do rank Fury Road above it, to me it still stands above so many other action/blockbuster films that I want to lead with that talking point instead of being lukewarm about it not being as good as Fury Road and prompt people on the fence to skip it. I have people popping up in my comments saying they haven’t been to the cinema in years. YEARS. I want people to remember what they’re missing out on and films like these are ABSOLUTELY worth seeing at the cinema instead of waiting for it to be available at home.
Also that stunt child Furiosa pulled with the makeshift wig had me ready to jump out of my chair cheering. 🤯
@@LadyJenevia Oh for sure. And comparing any movie to fury road is a tall order tbf, I just can't help but do it. I've been begging my friends to go watch Furiosa because even though it's not perfect, I do think it's a good movie (distracting green screen work notwithstanding) and different and creative and unique and very George Miller. I need this movie to make more money because I need more Mad Max movies!

this film was so awesome, i personally could have seen an extra 30 mins and explore more of the Wasteland between the 3 colonies. Or, whatever is surrounding it. Personal opinion, this film didn't need those title cards as the Fade Outs already in the film is enough. You are right, there is nothing like these Max films from the original to Furiosa. I have a theory relating to Praetorian Jack from what I felt about Tom Hardy's "Mad Max" from Fury Road.
It absolutely could’ve been 3 hours and I would’ve enjoyed it. What’s the point in proving you’re excellent at your job for DECADES if you can’t indulge and make your run time 3 hours when you feel like doing so? 😂
@@LadyJenevia Right? I read somewhere that there was enough cut out. If you are doing the chapter breaks, why not go for a full 3 hours. I personally would have loved to see more of Furiosa and Praetorian Jack do some War Rig runs, seeing that blossom more.

I saw Furiosa last night - I thought it was a fantastic exploration of the Mad Max world (the Green Place, Gastown, the Bullet Farm), but it was a very different (and much more complex) kind of story than Fury Road, which I found a little jarring. I can't fault the film itself, it was just a case of my expectations not meeting reality. The performances were great though - I instantly bought ATJ as Furiosa, despite being initially sceptical about the casting, and CH was clearly having a lot of fun playing an villain for once!
I’m going to watch it again at the cinema because it was such an EXPERIENCE and there was so much to take in that I want to make the most of the opportunity to see it on the big screen while I can. 😊🔥

I’ve not seen the movie yet and I don’t watch a lot of action anymore due to the lack of props used and the intensity of CGI (which isn’t all bad but it shouldn’t be the main reliance) . But this video has changed my mind

I would recommend watching Fury Road first BUT either way don’t miss Furiosa at the cinema, even if you haven’t seen Fury Road. It’s not like you won’t understand the story of Furiosa as a film without Fury Road, they’re very thorough.
