I was invited to play 3 hrs of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree early and felt like I only scratched the surface. This is easily going to be FromSoftware's biggest and densest DLC and by a mile. Time flew by, I didn't want to put the controller down. New open world and areas are gorgeous, lots of rewarding exploration, new weapons are really cool, major boss I got to fight was sick af, it's hard to imagine Shadow of the Erdtree being anything but a resounding win when it launches if the opening hours are anything to go by.

Does it have a quest log yet? I couldn’t finish the game because I was frustrated that I spent more time on the wiki than in the game. Was hoping (knowing that I was probably gonna be let down) that this would change.

People really just see the 40 bucks on the dlc and complained without understanding it
This isn't your typical 3 hours DLC by those shitty ass company. This is an expansion which size is half of the main game that it's possible that fromsoft could just released it as a separate game. I get it that it's basically make the game cost 100 dollars but honestly, just the base game is already worth of your time, the dlc is the cherry on top if you want.

Regardless, it’s infinitely better than something like Modern Warfare 3 being a literal 5 hour DLC flipped into a fully priced game with extensive micro transactions.
There’s a lot to complain about with AAA gaming (or AAAA for that matter, haha), but so far I have seen no reason to complain about FromSoftware’s DLC strategy over the years.

Level wont matter the DLC has its own leveling systems so everything you did before the DLC basically doesn't matter.

Making the "mini sequel" to Elden Ring as a big, and relatively expensive, DLC is a pretty good idea. The devs can reuse the same engine as is, while concentrating on just making new content.

Looking back at it now, Elden Ring in 2022 truly felt like a massive event. No game that has released since then has managed to garner the same level of worldwide reception. If this DLC turns out to be as good as the base game, then FromSoft has undoubtedly managed to solidify Elden Ring's position as one of the best games ever made.
FF7 Remake sort of had the same hype. Both were when people were still indoors mostly too
Helldivers 2 does exist btw. That had good worldwide reception, just not as of late. Very big player base and records broken. The only other one I could think of is Cyberpunk. The hype was real, but the actual game released in shambles. Elden Ring is definitely top of the list when it comes to significant games with mass appeal. Can’t wait for this DLC!
Ghost of Tsushima reminds me of another good game that released too, but I think the point is that these amazing games are few and far in between when we should have more access to better videogame releases with the tech available in this day and age.

I wish i could be excited for this but i never could get good at From Software games despite the fact that i really want to, the boss designs and the world designs are incredible and even though i'll never be good enough to play them, i respect Miyazaki-san for staying true to his vision
There are plenty of ways to cheese bosses in the game if you really wanted
You can over level your character from just exploring and defeating mini bosses which give you really good weapons and armor or go easy mode with Sorcerer build😂
Bro? I'm trash at these games. They make loads of different play stiles viable. You don't have to learn the move set of every enemy when you can summon help or use spells or arrows from a distance. Never give up, keep grinding.

Elden ring is really easy. You can powerlevel like crazy almost as soon as the game starts
I purposely waited until I saw the DLC release date to start playing it. I started 2 weeks ago. got 90 hrs in. Loving it and soon I'll have a lot more to play!

I’m incredibly excited about the fact that I’ll get to experience both the base game and Shadow of the Erdtree _together,_ on my first playthrough. I got into Soulsborne back in 2018 with the Dark Souls trilogy, and I haven’t been able to play the rest of the series due to platform exclusivity or hardware limitations, so it’s been about 6 years since the last time I’ve had a new or “fresh” FromSoft experience.
10 bosses? Base game has 12??? So the implication is that this dlc might have 80-90% of the content the base game already has. WTF?????

Leveling won't help, armor won't help, magic won't help...the game is designed to kill you over & over until you finally give up. Was not made to be explored, enjoyed in any way. The devs wanted to give people heart attacks from intense anger, frustration and yelling, to see how many people they could cause to drop dead. ER is their version of population control! This game needs an easy mode or a cheat menu. Otherwise there is no hope, no reason for DLC. Why pay ''extra'' just to watch more endless death scenes when you can already do that in the game. Save your money!

From is the last studio I actually trust to deliver a normal, fun, and fun game. Don't get me wrong, they don't always reach PERFECTION, but they just make games and sell them, no bs, no hidden transactions, no gambling, they just make a full DLC and sell you what it was worth.
This might be the first time a DLC will actually win game of the year... From Software really are on a league of their own.

I just read you need to beat this Boss to access the DLC which i haven't beaten yet .
The way they go about leveling in the dlc is so cool, so if you don’t finish the main game you can at least stand a chance in the dlc

All of those new weapons and such. I might actually do journey 2s on my characters after the DLC to make use of them. I usually make new characters instead of going the NG+ route, though I did that a couple of times. I actually have a character on NG+ right now that I just beat Mohg with after going there early via Varre's quest.

The DLC, is it a new champoion playthrough or will it be a continuation of the base game with the same champion being usable, almost like "New game +"? because I, the Lord of Flame touched by the figners three wish to continue my path of flame and ash into the new realm.
For anyone not aware of a Souls game - 3hrs of game play in any other game will reveal alot of that DLC but because this is a Souls game, those 3hrs used to just trying to figure out a way to not die to the trail by fire intro boss....😅

Well You need to beat Radahn a mid game boss and Mohg a endgame boss.
But, Both can be fought relatively early.
