It is a big shame on the School

I like the urgent intervention of the Minister of Women Affairs. Assuming she wasn't in Nigeria, she can then send a representative. She is equal to the task and knows her onions. She defended the victim's parents, the victim, other students and guardians, and even the school and the culprit. She ensured she sat on the fence and letting the school knows the next step to take.
When a house is on fire, if urgent attention is not given, it could escalate and only God knows who and who could be victims.
My intake in all these is those students in public schools whose parents do not have required amount to send them to private school. They are mostly bullied daily without any action being taken against the culprits.
I must concern the victim here. She was so calm while receiving all those slaps. I embraced her composure and disposition. She came from a well-bred and nurtured family background. Her father even said if his children should misbehave, they learn those bad behaviors in the school not at home.
A student who slaps other students at freewill may likely come from her family where he or she is exposed to such devilish and illicit behaviors.

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
All these people in the comment section saying that the school shouldn't be shut down are part of the reason why Nigeria is like this.
What is 3 days compared to the long lasting trauma that the bullied student (and all other numerous undetected bullying that must have gone and possibly still going on in the school) that they cannot bear while investigations and group counselling / therapy is carried out among the students?
Or are they waiting yet for another student death to happen before they think its significant enough to close the school for a period and investigate and ensure all necessary measures to prevent/mitigate future occurrences are put in place?
So the school should continue operating like nothing happened because the child who got bullied is so insignificant that only her should face the consequences of the failure of the school to have prevented the bullying from happeningin the first place?
Shutting the school down for 3 days isn't too much of a price to pay for the COLLECTIVE GOOD of all the students in that school going forward. It will also ensure a sense of COLLECTIVE responsibility among the students to speak out and not condone bullying even if they are not the direct victims, as was seen in this case where severalof them were watching and did nothing; some were even laughing!!!
So 3 days closure is not too much of a sanction. 3 days of accademic activity out of a whole term wouldn't isn't a big deal if we want to be very honest.
People should stop this selfish attitude of "what about the other children in the school"..........what about the child that was bullied? What if she was maimed or had died in the process ? What about the children among them who are going to be future victims ?
Everyone wants to move on when its not their child that is involved. Such selfish and self-serving lots.

Do to others what you will like others to do to you. Bullying should not be allowed in any school in Nigeria. Students found defaulting should be expelled from the school.

She should not be forced in front of cameras right now. She should be home being protected and loved. She sounds like she’s reliving it.

Listen, this has been going on for too long. The school staff has accommodated it by turning away. If the leaders are not disciplined, they will retaliate on this poor girl. No child should go through this while administrators look the other way. Enough is enough

I really appreciate the Minister for what she is doing. Thank you ma'am. I was in a boarding school and my school had a no bullying policy, if you're reported, it an immediate expulsion, no suspension or any first offense basis, they won't even bother to call your parents, they just send you out of the facility with a letter to your parents. Even Ss3 students writing waec can be expelled.

Why? go to 9:52 and start from there then ask yourself does that line of statement mean anything to you and anyone who cares to know no one cares about them?

Please try and put up a fight when next you meet such a monster. The parents of such a monster should be ashamed of themselves.

This is a serious issue. My friends daughter----- herself several years ago because of bullying. Another case I can't forget here is a young boy that snapped after he was bullied for such a long time. The boy is currently serving time here in New York. The point I'm making here is to let people realize how serious the effects of bullying are. The school needs to take responsibility and demonstrate that they will train the entire school on antibullying.

The more reasons parents should train their children and not base all the responsibilities on the school. Bully is everywhere even in the 80s thanks to social media
