I’m a civvie but I was a young man of 22 when the invasion happened and it gave me a lifelong respect for the armed services. I tried to imagine myself on the boat going down there, anticipating conflict, the beach landing, advancing to contact in a night attack etc. Chilling.

Plenty of lessons to be learned & hopefully applied to future operations.
The Brits are one tough bunch, don’t think anybody can argue that. Much respect. 🇨🇦

Respect to those willing to give up everything for a place they had never heard of and only knew that it contained people of their flesh and blood and it was wrongfully invaded. Takes a lot of spirit, soul and sheer balls to do that. Even against impossible odds, they stood in, stood by their training, stood by their fellow man and that is what wins. To steal one from the para for the RMC, who dares, wins.

All my training team were from 42 Commando and Mount Harriet veterans. These guys gave me the experience and knowledge that stood me in good stead in future operations. Thanks to you all.

It’s hard watching a young soldier ask questions to an old soldier
