      Chris Collins the Royal Marine Commandos is the hardest civilian to soldier training in the British Military, they are at the level of athletes. I’m going to sign up after 5 years of training.

    • @Schairiebwdifb

      Chris Collins 3 mile run is 20 mins... that’s at least 1 year training if you want a chance of passing, 3 years is for a definite chance.

      Chris Collins and how long did they work out for? There’s literally no way you could just walk in and pass. You have to do a 30 miler at the end in 9 hours. No normal person can keep that pace with 21 or 35lbs kit, can’t remember

      Lol, we initially start wars with good intentions but we need to get something in return you know. In the middle East forces are passing off patrol and policing to local police and soldiers who the US, UK, and Australia have been training for while now. So I'd say it's a decent pay off. Teach them to fight their own war and we get oil.

      During the Battle of Chosin Korea 1950, the US Marines fought alongside Royal Marines, 41 Commando. Forever creating a lasting bond between the two. If you have any knowledge of the Chosin battle you'll recognised the significance. Task Force Drysdale (Royal Marines with two USMC regiments) fought through hordes of Chinese communist ambushes to then defend the perimeter of Hagaru-ri. The British here moved around the entire site plugging gaps in the defense, as a quick reaction force. On the war’s most harrowing battleground, 41 Commando braved "Hellfire Valley" to reinforce besieged US marines surrounded amid North Korea’s most hostile mountains. What followed-the breakout from Chosin Reservoir to the sea-remains the most epic fighting withdrawal of modern history.
      Documented in Salmons's Scorched Earth Black Snow book. The Royal Marines were awarded the Presidential Citation for their actions, cementing the bond for both Marine forces. 🇬🇧🇺🇸

    For all you young lads aspiring to join the Corp do not ever give up on yourself or your ability. Train slow, look after your body, eat well. It will come in good time as you get bigger, fitter, stronger. However one thing will keep you running all the way to the end and that is being positive up top, in your mind. Remember there will be times it will hurt, hurt alot but you are not dead or dying. Hill runs and light order cross country. It will all come together.
    Nothing is Impossible.

However I’m quite a skinny guy and can’t seem to gain any significant amount of mass and/or muscle even after working out for almost a whole year straight now, and that’s one thing that’s starting to put me in a negative mindset, me not being able to get past basic training because of my super fast metabolism :/

      I will be the one to give you advice different to what most will say.
      You need to be extremely fit, but don't train excessively. The Royal Marine's own advice to hopeful people is that you shouldn't run with boots on or with added weight. It is very easy to injure yourself doing this and they will gradually ease you into it during training. Instead, work on your basic stamina and speed. You need to be comfortable with running fairly long distances to begin with, as the PJFT will see you running 3 miles (not a massive distance but on the treadmill it can feel like forever) and the PRMC will see you do it again for real, but with the addition of a bleep test and the other sections of the PRMC. You will also need to have good speed because they will routinely put you up against others in races and competition and the loser has to keep going until they win.
      Train for press ups, pull ups and sit ups as you see fit so long as you are making progress, but do not go overboard. A man I know joined at 16 and although he is ultra-fit now (many years later) he admitted that at the time he just made sure he could do the minimum 3 pull ups etc. That is not me encouraging you to just scrape it - you should always try your best and make sure to make it easy on yourself when going through selection by being fitter than you have to be.
      However, the last thing you want to do is overdo it and injure yourself. Joining the Royal Marines is all I've wanted to do for years and I was making progress, I was even training to reach the level where I could eclipse the maximum numbers for the tests so I could comfortably breeze through it on the actual day. But then I injured my elbows (something like tennis elbow) and I have already been out of training for nearly 2 years. It is not a serious injury, but takes an age to heal so I must be patient and pray that they will heal soon.
      So trust me, it is better to be average and succeed than it is to try and be better than the requirements and get shot down by some stupid injury that has essentially now ruined my life. Always try your hardest, but don't destroy yourself in the process unnecessarily.
      It is very doable, and you will succeed if you are patient, and just remember that you are capable of doing things you would think are impossible so long as you have DETERMINATION.
      Good luck.

    40 CDO fell under the command of the 7th Marine Regiment, and fought alongside 2d BN 5th Marines, 3d BN 11th Marines (arty), 1st ANGLICO, MARSOC, and the UAE presidential guard.
    All these units fell under the CO of 7th Marines. 40 CDO did phenomenal work, but they were certainly not alone or fighting on their own. They even used 7th Marines vehicles (if you look on some of the pictures a red “7th Reg” license plate is visible).

    • @maxpowerii7368
      @maxpowerii7368 Před 4 lety +1

      Parallel- Knight I hope so. SA80A2 has been a good weapons platform overall but it’s getting old.
      Really though it’s calibre development that is needed as well. An intermediate calibre between 5.56 NATO and larger rounds similar to 6.8 SPC but better performing at longer distances to address failure of 5.56 in recent conflicts such as Afghanistan.
      Once the calibre is developed only then can the next generation rifle be developed although I can only see it going the way of an AR style platform with its reliability and modulability.

    • @DJJAW11
      @DJJAW11 Před 4 lety

      ... I think the Robinson XCR-L would make a great assault rifle, look up,if not familer,very good platform etc(proper modularity calibre change etc)!. Or indeed Bren 2 etc. Or simply go with what the USA goes with 😏.

    • @maxpowerii7368
      @maxpowerii7368 Před 3 lety

      DJJAW11 XCR-L would be a stronger contender but I think price would probably be a little high for UK government.
      Not to mention it’s not really been tried and tested in combat like other rifles. It missed out on the US Army SCAR competition due to been disqualified by a technicality due to late arrival of blank firing adapters and as far as I am aware has no major military users beyond civilians and law enforcement customers.
      The C8 carbine has seen a lot of action in the Middle East with UKSF/Pathfinder Platoon/Royal Marine specialist units who seem very keen on it.
      Plus calibre wise I don’t think it offers any major opportunities unless the British Armed Forces are looking to ditch the LMT 7.62 sharpshooter rifle which is still relatively new and performed well on a UOR order in Afghanistan from what is reported as well as the SA80A2 for one rifle made up of orders of standard 5.56 units along with XCLs with 7.76 conversion kits.
      Not to mention Colt Canada C8 offers advantages in developing close connections between Canadian defence industry and Britain which may be advantageous if the UK government is pursuing closer relations with so called ‘CANZUK’ countries compared to buying American manufactured models of rifles.
      Either way I imagine it will come down to a bidded competition between multiple manufacturers offering their latest next generation combat rifle or carbine system like the LMT/Glock decision did.
