It's the theme of a lot of quality YA/coming of age stories? Being more normal than you think you are, or that being not normal is normal. And nobody who read Judy Blume books as a teenager, or Jacqueline Wilson in recent years, can not know this? And talking to other people who've had similar experiences/temperaments whom you have a good relationship with is also a good way to find that out. It doesn't mean we're all the same - or that some people don't get shit on worst by other people or by their own mental health or experiences otherwise. And it doesn't mean, knowing that, that we won't feel guilty or complicated about it.
We can all clearly see why Johnny Depp (and im sure many other actors and musicians etc) fell in love with her, she was so beautiful and wise and very open minded for her age, a natural beauty, i wish she was still getting the kinda roles she did back in the day, and married to Depp and had beautiful weird children together. She's still gorgeous though, she has an add campaign for a famous clothing brand recently and she looks just the same.

The interviewer asked some relevant and deep questions especially when it comes to teen coming of age movies because it is true that they aren't real and they are stereotyped into a good or bad teenager. I hate how interviews are about "what is it like to be working with this male co-star?" "Do you find him attractive?" "How hard was it to work out for your role?" Like interviews nowadays are solely about looks and appearances rather than the deeper meaning of films and why the film is the way it is. This interview shows the beauty that film is complicated and has a lot of parts to it that make this big, powerful meaning. For me, being a film major, I get tired of films being the same and not having any differences other than being a film about singing or dancing or this girl wants to find love. I love this interview and hope that interviews nowadays can be like this.

I love Mermaids, it really is a charming movie, set in my favorite era too. Winona is so freakin gorgeous, I mean she has this plain blunt uncombed hair, a man's suit on and practically zero make-up and still is beautiful, and she doesn't even care about her looks which is even cooler. Background info: 1. As the host said she's 19 at the time of this interview (April 26, 1991) but later that year on October 29th she turned 20 years old. 2. "Mermaids" was released in North America in 1990 but it was released in Europe in 1991 this explains why she's there in the UK promoting it in '91. 3. After this Winona worked on a film called "Night On Earth" then took a 5 month break from the film industry due to mental exhaustion.

i like her even more when u see the real person vs the roles she plays. she's a shy, quiet, kinda dark personality which i love. she don't care about being famous and all that other bs that goes with show business which is so refreshing. she was so beautiful in mermaids and just a dark doe eyed beauty. kinda of a one and kind look really. she's such an amazing actress and just is killing it in the netflix "stranger things" series which is unbelievably good. "square dance" is my favorite, gemma dillard with the monroe forhead.

I love Mermaids, it really is a charming movie, set in my favorite era too. Winona is so freakin gorgeous, I mean she has this plain blunt uncombed hair, a man's suit on and practically zero make-up and still is beautiful, and she doesn't even care about her looks which is even cooler. She puts 99% of the other so -called "hollywood beauties" to shame.

Background info:
1. As the host said she's 19 at the time of this interview (April 26, 1991) but later that year on October 29th she turned 20 years old.
2. "Mermaids" was released in North America in 1990 but it was released in Europe in 1991 this explains why she's there in the UK promoting it in '91.
3. After this Winona worked on a film called "Night On Earth" then took a 5 month break from the film industry due to mental exhaustion.
