Woulda, coulda, shoulda, didn't. That's cars and drag racing for you. Nothing is ever guaranteed. Don't worry Scotty you will get them next time. This only goes to prove that this channel is the real deal. Because as you know things don't always go to plan at the drags. Some channels wouldn't have posted this video so they didn't have to admit they got their butt kicked. Glad you are man enough to share your failures with us as well as you successes. Keep up the good work.
Scotty the master of Carnage, some unlucky breaks. That is one hell of a strong engine though, when you get that 2J dialled it's sure gonna rip.

You went to the track with a new engine, ran some very nearly 9 second passes and then you got to take it home with all the oily bits still in it, I'm pretty sure thats a win in anyones book. The only thing I'm concerned about are those rattly noises when you picked up the last slip, hopefully just something to do with the belt disintegrating.
That was the serpentine belt creating havok

It is my favourite motor body combination of any build on CZcams! It is the ultimate sleeper. I wish there was a way to advertise your show to the Americans, they would love this. A sexy Volvo with an amazing JZ Frankenstein

It's a hire trailer. I'm just glad it had a winch. This is the first time we ever needed to winch a Carnage car on to a trailer.
Might have to glue the hat to the parcel shelf Scotty, when its sorted will make a great daily driver😁🤠

Yeah, that just wasn't a thing at all for a street car back in the day. I remember thinking I was quick doing a mid 13 back in the 90's.

A bit of info on the trans brake. Never release the button with the wheels off the ground and brakes released. There is a delay in fully releasing the holding clutch pack and this slippage will burn the clutches. When the car is on the ground, wheel speed comes up slowly enough that the holding clutch has time to release. See the beginning and 43:00 in vid " This Transmission Mistake Could Cost You BIG TIME " on the channel " Steve Morris Engines "

It’d be interesting to see what that car can do if it where awd. You’d be able to launch it as hard as you wanted and get minimal spin. Good to see you took out some useless weight.

@@STREETMACHINETV There's a really good mechanical locker you can get for those Borg Warner Diff's, Scotty. I actually have one in my 9 second R31 Skyline. Look up 4WD Systems in S.A... Their diff centres come with a lifetime warranty, maintenance free and reasonably priced. Mine's almost 15 yrs old and still going strong, taken everything I could throw at it 👍

feel for ya scotty youve put in the work on this and soo close, iv run a similar setup but with an rb30 twin cam in a r31 wagon same style rebuild cams springs similar turbo its amazing how similar our set ups are i made 490rwkw on a roller dyno and ran a 9.94 at 138mph traction was an issue leaving the line at calder what diff ratio and tyre size are you running?
3.54 ratio with 235/60/15 drag radials

Judging by the title I thought you BROKE it! But you only broke it. Every launch I was waiting for an axle or diff gears to shatter. Yes a serpentine belt is still a break (and what it took out on it's journey) but as you have a trailer to get it home put it down to more bad luck.............
Well the serpentine belt also took out crank trigger
At least you didn't cook the engine and live to drag anither day.
Kinda looks like trolvo won't run what you want as then it will be sold. 😅
Scotty you never mention the transmission fluid temps at the drags via the logs, never, why not mate, sure engine data, but what about say diff oil temps and trans fluid temps during the drags?
How many times people get told to do preventative maintenance on their daily's, yet you're pushing the trovo to its limits mate before going out check everything plugs, oil, filters, belts hoses coolant, trans fluid trans filter oil in the diff etc etc, brakes pads rotors everything basically before sending it?
I log it, but it never gets hot so I don't really talk about it. The only time we see any real temp in the trans is after a big dyno session

@@STREETMACHINETV the car will hook a lot easier as I’m not seeing rear suspension separation when it leaves as also my dragster hasn’t any suspension and it dead hooks at heathcote going 1.14 60ft
And yes I realise the Volvo probably won’t be any faster than 1.4-1.5 60ft but it will hook nearly every time
