Display Port No Signal FIX !! [Step-by-Step in Description]

- Hi everyone. I ran into an issue where my Display port wasn't working after the computer went to sleep. After searching online and trying different fixes for 2+ hours, I finally came across a very simple way to fix this issue.
Please consider Subscribing if this video helped you out! Subs help my channel be able to monetize which allow me to produce additional content :)
Steps to fix the Display Port:
1. Turn off the computer and either unplug it from the power source or turn off via the Power Supply's power switch.
2. Turn off your monitor and then unplug it from the power source.
3. Wait 30 seconds.
4. Plug the monitor back on, turn it on if it doesn't do so automatically.
5. Plug the PC back on or flip the PSU switch back to on.
6. Turn the PC back on and if this fix is applicable, your Display Port will now work again.
NOTE: Make sure no other video cables are plugged in to the GTX 1080 or other GPU. Just have the faulty Display Port plugged in with the Display Port cable connected to the monitor.
Also, if you suspect driver issues, connect the computer via HDMI or DVI and reinstall the display drivers again. You may need to use older drivers if the newest drivers are breaking your ability to use Displayport.
I hope this saved you guys from all the effort and possible RMA's!
Thanks for watching :)

Even 5 years later, you saved my life. Can't appreciate it more. Thank you
5 years down the line and this video saved me so much trouble figuring out my DP issues. Much thanks for making this video man!
I kid you not I’ve been facing this problem and his fix worked and I was so surprised because I thought my pc was broken😂
@@CasualAJR I don't have the same monitor but I just got it I plugged in hdmi and dps but I'm getting nothing
@@doodlebob2172 My motherboard and GPU both have different DP and HDMI slots. I know my monitor wouldn't get an input when I plugged it into the motherboard, but it would work when I plugged it into the GPU. I don't know if that will fix your issue, but I hope it helps.

What gpu are you using? Im having the same issue, hdmi works but dp isn't, gtx 1080 fe
My steps (monitor Asus Tuf Gaming VG279QR) all works:
1. Turn off your monitor and then unplug it from the power source.
2. Unplug DP cable from the monitor and GPU.
3. Wait 30 seconds.
4. Plug again DP cable on.
5. Plug the monitor back on.
6. Turn the monitor back on and your Display Port will now work.
7. Miracle, work again, save my life, thanx a lot, mate.
Holy crap dude even 5 years later youre still a lifesaver! I was this close to calling it quits on fixing this issue after like 3 hours and sending my monitor back to get a new one, then i stumbled across this video and thought "Might as well try" and it actually worked!

Hi, just wanted to give a huge thank you for this simple fix!
So frustrating such problems just appear right outta the blue, awesome of you to share this...was just about to RMA a 1 month old screen!
Six years later and you just helped me with this problem. I have the same monitor and it happened exactly like yours did. I've had this happen before and spent hours trying different cables, restarting, graphics drivers, everything and it eventually fixed, but I didn't know why. This literally fixed it in 2 minutes. Thank you so much. Same monitor with a 2060 that was built in 2019.
Haha same here.....
I showed this video to my boyfriend and he strated to complain on how stupid this solucion was. I insisted that he should try it and IT WORKED. Thank you for making me the one who was right once again 😂
I honestly thought the same as your BF, and it fucking WORKED !!!
Lol won’t work for me my port the port one of the pins broke off
Im acctually an idiot my cat got behind my pc and pulled my HDMI out

In that case, your cat is the daamn idiot
Rma that shit!
Why are you watching this video if you are using HDMI when this video is about DP
I have a general question as a display port cable is new to me. Just got a new gaming computer but wondered do you need just the Display Port cable or do you need that plus a HDMI? Im currently having issues getting my new monitor to show the display.
Thanks for your prompt input on this problem. Do you have to unplug monitor snd pc itself every time you use it or it is just one time unplugging only? Thanks
Everyone saying it worked and I'm just like 😭😥😢

Thank you good sir, just saved me from a minor heart attack. Could’ve sworn I felt a static shock when I plugged in my Display Port and was convinced I’d broken it 😭
I was like “no way this works” guess what happened IT WORKED

@@haduhjax same but after you put your computer back to sleep you have to do it again
@@yukiyuklee4894 now that I know this is a problem, I turned the sleep mode off on my PC. Haven't had the problem since.
Timothy Hajduk ok I fixed the issue well for laptops. If anyone is having issues go into display/advanced settings/monitor adapter and set the hz to the highest settings. In my case that was 60hz

I can't believe the fix is literally "Turn off and on"
I believed it. Sadly it didn't work..........
I’ve never had a CZcams video actually help fix something until today. Thank you.
I know right same
BRO!!! Are you KIDDING ME!! I been trying for Hours and nothing. Even bought a new Display port cable and didn’t work. The HDMI port did work but not my DP. Was even looking at new monitors. I try everything and nothing came across the video and was like everyone else “ what the heck let’s try it” BOOM!!! WORK!! Thanks brother!! Live safer!!! 6 year old video but this Works!!!
3years later an this is still helping people! Thank you 🙏🏼
Dude I'd already spent $60 putting my rig in the shop for this problem, and I was at a point where I thought my only option would be to buy a new graphics card. This fix saved my ass
Idk if I want to test it, I have an expensive monitor 165hz and ran display port before but every time I updated the drivers it messed up and every time i plug it in to display port to the graphics card i have a 2080ti, its say wired display and 1028 x 800 and 800 something else, would that possibly work? I'm using hdmi ever since then since i can never find a solution for this one problem i'm having and reinstalling drivers etc doesn't make it work! I know its a few years in but if that can be the same thing as you did then I may give it a try.
Jesus dude I spent an hour trying to figure this out. Opened my PC, made sure the gfx card wasn't loose. Tightened and cleaned DP cables and port. Turned it off and on then I stumbled upon your video. Can't believe this fixed it.
I did what you recommended with the added step of making sure all of my connections were snug and this solved the issue for me. Thank God it was the simple solution and not something much, much more complicated.
I was having problems with my monitor today and I come to this video and realize I had liked it probably 3 years ago cause it must have fixed my issue. After hearing the solution again I remembered how ridiculous it sounded the first time, but yet found out it worked for me before lol. Same problem, and same solution. Thank you again!
Absolute legend for figuring this out.
PC went to sleep and I got no signal over DP but still had it over hdmi.
I tried turning my pc and monitor off, trying different ports, buying a new cable, and nothing worked. But for some reason actually unplugging my pc as opposed to shutting it down fixed it.
I've been having this issue with my monitors at work for a few weeks now and I tried so many different troubleshooting steps. Thanks for this. It worked immediately.
It sounds incredibly easy, but it literally saved me today. I bought new cables, and it was this simple! Have a huge csgo game today and you saved me!
Thank you!

This is actually insane, i tried EVERYTHING and this is the only thing that worked wtfffff thanks
Does this work for a multi monitor setup and two monitors work while just one doesn't
Dude, you just fixed my problem that I was having for more than a week. I even changed the DP cable but after applying your method, it's working perfectly fine. Thanks.
Did not expect this to work...
Felt like one of those noob questions "Did you power on the computer?".
Ty.
I never comment on people's videos, but my friend... You saved me a lot of heart ache. Thank you! It really worked!!
How? u just unplug the computer then after 30secs its back?
@@berricky Its in the description

Do you need any extra cable? Because I'm just connecting my tv to the display port/HDMI adapter and it says no display but if I connect the display port to the mobo it works, I'm having no video from the video card
I just want to say, that I love you. Thank you so much for making this video 5 years ago. Its so cool that its able to help people even today! I cant thank you enough for this, its literally a miracle. Thank you once again, you are truely a savior.
all my display and hdmi ports on my gpu have this problem. they stopped working just while i was gaming. turning everything off for a bit works but only for like 5-10 minutes and then my monitors go black. any suggestions?
It’s such a ridiculous issue that no one should have to deal with to be honest
But it sadly happens
Thank you
Thats why IT's make huge bucks with this problems
words can’t explain how much I frickin LOVE YOU
Can you use this for your console my p5 hdmi is messed up
Ty for taking the time to post this. Asus VG248QE monitor, GTX 1080 (and also a 1060), same exact issue, and this "fixes" it... at least until the monitor goes to sleep again (which i disabled in Control Panel now that i know better). i had to look further into this, and believe i've "pinned" down the issue. Evidently this is due to the No. 20 DP pin, which delivers +3.3V power. The current DisplayPort standards state that this pin must NOT have a wire connected to it, so it no longer serves a function unless your use case is with old equipment. So what happened to all the cables that were manufactured before the standard was changed? Burned in a fire, right? Ha! They're still for sale, my friends, and you very likely have at least one. Mine came with the damned graphics card. That unexpected voltage confuses the monitor's firmware, and removing the power cord resets the firmware. if your DP cable has the 3.3V power, it WILL bug the monitor's firmware every time Windows attempts to turn off your monitor. Change that setting to NEVER, and/or find a cable that conforms to the most recent VESA DisplayPort standard. Janky damned DP cables are everywhere.
Awesome research! So when buying a new DP cable make sure it is a recently manufactured one and that it is also VESA standard certified/compliant! Thanks for that awesome research, Jason!!
You sound like a legend Jason. Thanks for taking the time to iterrate this for everyone. Crazy that the market is flooded with poorly made cables !
thing is the offending cables may actually be very well-made, and quality brands... but made prior to the change in VESA standards. you can easily check your cables using a multi-meter set to ohms. the number 20 pin (which should do nothing) is nearest to the slanted corner.
Thank you so much for this research!
i cant seem to find a setting that i could turn to "never". you're talking about the nvidia controle panel? because in the windows settings i did turn everything to "never".
I'm having this problem with my NZXT build with a 3090 where I could be playing minecraft, or streaming using OBS and both monitors will go black and a message will pop up saying "an incorrect displayport version setting will cause the screen to be blank" I've tried replacing the graphics card 3 times actually, reinstalled my drivers, purchased new cables and still the same issue. I could be playing games for 10 minutes or 2 hours it will eventually power down my monitors and go to sleep.
I have the exact problem with my nzxt bld.
Bought it about a year ago and this still happens once in awhile.
I contacted them and they told me to do a bunch of shit. I asked them to teamview but they kept delaying it. This would be my last time doing any business with nzxt

Good stuff! Thanks for letting us know!! :)
You wasted your money with the 4090 if you don’t have a 360 hz monitor
4 years later your video is still helping people, thank you.
THANK YOU!!! So simple and makes me face palm that I spent 2hrs trying to update drivers and system restore instead of powering down the monitor!!
Hey Freddy, just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make this video. I was about to go down that rabbit hole of spending hours and hours on testing (had already tested each display port and switched cables, was about to play with drivers... ) But your video saved me... THANK YOU! Everything came up just fine after following your steps.
I spent hours last week, watching CZcams videos that had 10 different reasons why your monitor could be inactive. The IT department where I work, ordered me a new monitor AND docking station and while those haven’t arrived yet, I thought I’d try one more time. Having dual monitors is essential for what I do. I was literally dreading going to work tomorrow but not anymore, all thanks to YOU! I can’t tell you how MUCH I APPRECIATE you sharing this video. It was SIMPLE and IT WORKED! i got 2 monitors, one connected from hdmi in pc to hdmi in monitor one connected from vgi pc to vgi monitor yesterday my pc froze (i am using a lenovo idea centre 3 mini almost 2 years old now)i manually shut down. when turning it back on. the monitor connected to hdmi wasnt working, vgi was working fine. went and brought a new hdmi > vgi cable. still didnt work. tried cleaning ram/cmos. still didnt work. swapped cords on both monitors. than the good monitor stopped working & the bad one started working. so guessing its hdmi port issue? if turning of power doesnt work. than i might try a vgi to vgi cable splitter? not sure if they work. i’ve seen a few videos saying they work fine.
I sent my whole pc to repair 30 minutes away, and their recommendation was to buy a new GPU cause my current gpu is gone. I brought it home without buying a new gpu and decided to try your fix and viola. Thanks for saving me a ton, you the man!
