I just bought this very car. Not one like it but this exact car. I've owned a couple of these new and still remain amount my favorite saloons of all time. Hilarious to stumble across your review. It is in amazing shape.
Not s4s I wish tho lol, coulda bought one for the same price that I got my 3.0 for, but I didn't wanna worry bout the timing chain, what's the reliability like if you keep it stock on the 4.2s?
Is this car worth getting at 111k miles and also one with a replaced timing chain? I heard that was the main issue this this car? So if one is found with a new timing chain is it worth it?
If it's been well taken care for ... Then Yes these are worth it, even if the timing chains have not been done. It used to cost about $10K to get the timing chain tensioners & guides replaced, today the parts are under $2K & if you cannot do it yourself a reputable indie shop should be able to do this for under $3K... These S4's should begin to increase in value... The days of 4 door sport luxury sedans with a naturally spirited V8 re no more... I'm glad Ive kept mine these past few years.. Concerning the urban legend these motors just blow up with the timing issues... No.. There is plenty of warning from the motor that it is time to inspect the guides..
Hmm, well you'd have to be either a huge AUDI nut, made of money or just plain stupid ( or all of the above lol ) since the Timing Chain/Guides repair is anywhere from $4k - $8k. Add about 20% if you live in a big city like San Jose or Miami. Seriously, a comparable BMW or Mercedes would be a MUCH more reliable ( not to mention, better performance ) and less finicky car than the AUDI. Don't say I didn't warn you...
@@bl0wn3ur0that makes so much sense, because I always thought my b6 had 60/40 but the back kicks out way too much for that to be the case, sick I didn't know this

The B6 had a 50/50 torque split and could send as much as 60% to the rear. The B7 got a 40/60 F/R split and could send as much as 80% to the rear…..
I just bought one 2004 s4 love the car the power is amazing
nice

Yeah I’d say so. I’m buying one with 120k and replaced with RS4 internals for servicing. Previous owner spent 10k and selling it to me for 12

I bought my Audi S4 black back in 2010 I smoked a lot of Mustang GTs with that car lol 😅 hahahahahaaha
You got your split reversed. 40 to the front and 60 to the rear.
That’s on a later generation cars, this car is 50/50 under normal driving conditions
