Before I got my chains done I changed from 5w30 to 5w40 and it reduced the rattle and oil burn/leak rate quite a lot. Although if you’ve got rattle the guides are gone and any oil won’t fix it. I took mine to VAG technic. He had the car longer than I’d hoped due to being let down a few times by the guy he sends the headliners to but by far the best experience I’ve had with a mechanic.
Yeah the chain rattles slightly on startup every so often not every time. Yeah I’ve seen they are the best, it’s who it will probably go to for the inevitable jobs but gotta get the savings pot bigger first lol
I learned how to drive on one of these cars and I’m planning on getting one myself! If you look in the right spot here in America a lot of them already have the chains done. Other than that it’s a decently reliable car and it’s really hard to find a manual v8 nowadays
You either have deep pockets or have the ability to rebuild/restore it!!! Pulling the motor and partial disassembly of the motor to rebuild is the way to go.
Hard to find negative points when you love driving it so much. I don’t have the exhaust you have on my car and the sound is a little disappointing on the stock car. Keep the content coming as I like to watch your views on the s4
I have an Audi a4 b6 avant, 1.8t stage 2+ started off with 163 bhp and now has 288 bhp. I have the sagging roof lining, I get 250 ish miles to a full tank of super unleaded, I also have the electrical gremlins 👀😂 and I have also found out that they are bastards to work on 😂. I feel your pain bro lol great video
How so? It’s the exact same car apart from the engine. Changing a spring on my car is like changing a spring on his car. Rusty/seized bolts, no good jacking points, price of parts etc…. the list can goes on and on. Just too note, when buying things for my car, they also list that they fit his car too. So yes, very similar. Now if I had said an Audi a3, maybe you’d be somewhat right.
@@bradbullen2099 I should have been more specific. Working on the engine is much easier with the 1.8T the the v6 3.0 and especially the 4.2. The rest of the car yes you are correct it's a challenge. I Had an A4 Avant. Now I own an A3 Sportback with the R32... DSG. Currently looking into getting an S4 B6 Avant Nogaro blue. I'm aware I'll be pulling out the motor/trans.
These cars are seriously underrated
I agree mate. If you can live with the flaws it’s truly something amazing.
@@Tfox89 Not as good as a B5
Good review. True story. It's great when it works. You kinda just live with it and enjoy the good times while they last.

Hoping to get myself one of these next year. Thanks for the informative video 🤙🏻😁
Hopefully you find a good one mate, thanks for watching 🤟🏼🤟🏼

i loved b6 s4 for 9 years, now it is time for b9 s4 avant :D

Mate keep the videos up and keep waffling 👍
Thanks mate I appreciate it. Next vid I’ll get hold of my go pros etc show more of what the S4 is like!
@@Tfox89 nice one mate 👍 nice looking car keep at it love my s cars for the early 2000s

Thanks mate appreciate that!
Get an exhaust. It makes a huge difference in driving enjoyment. Also, a JHM 4:1 center if possible.
I’ve got a Brilliant red s4 too love it to death.
They’re just ace… 🤟🏼
Good video I know your pain as an RS4 B7 owner.🙂
mine has 214k km and still runs perfectly. but it has the 2dn timing chain
You got rid of the eonon headunit? I have that on my b5 and I swear by it, I have the newest version with the quad core processor
Yeah man, just didn’t like it mate. 👌
The rear fog lights are standard and you can control them from your light switch
Yeah… but the left fog light is out… it doesn’t have one. There is no cutout for a left fog light on a UK B6.
you sure? the cutout is usually there like it is on my b5s@@Tfox89
Sounds awesome. Swap you for a 2007 2.0 litre tdi a6😅
Haha the TDI’s are still weapons

bro speak up man. speak louder can barely hear you.
I was speaking in braille sorry
Stop b.tchin man!
Mine was in the shop for MAF sensor like every other month for 6 months. It was tuned and had a full miltek exhaust
Yes they certainly have their issues, but I can’t help but forgive when I drive it. It’s so bad it’s… good.
