Upgraded laptop now has a matte finish. Could not stand the reflections from the screen from the gloss finish of my older laptop. While it did look more vibrant on the gloss, the matte is still excellent n still good to look at. No annoying reflections.
Yes, I had no idea how much I was used to glossy screens. I got an acer nitro 5 today, a beast of a machine, but it has a matte finish and wow, idk if i'll be able to stand it
Dear Acer, can we please have glossy options for your gaming laptops such as Nitro 5 and Helios 300? you'd be the first in this and would dominate the market, since neither Dell, Asus, HP or MSI have it in that price segment. A gaming laptop with an affordable price but with glossy coating like Nitro 5 would be an easy pick for me.
a matt display sounds more practical on the go, on the other hand glossy screens tend to have edge to edge glass, better build quality. Wish I could have both to be honest.
Which other Acer laptops have glossy screen except Swift? I am looking for glossy screen and it is so hard to find these days.. At least when shopping on internet.
Acer is advertising Swift model as it was with glossy screen, when in fact all the internet stores (original Acer inc) says in the description that the screen is anti-glare matte! Is it mission imposible nowdays to get laptop with glossy screen. Some vendours dont even bother to mention this "little" screen detail in the description.
I know glossy is getting harder to find, and I just hate matte screen, it makes everything looks white tinted and fuzzy , text is harder to read. Shitty matte
Excellent video, very timely that I found this. But darn, I want the benefits of both without any of the tradeoffs. It ain't fair I tell ya! 🙂 I'm looking at getting the newest Dell XPS 17" laptop with the 11th gen i7 chip, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD storage, Windows 11, 3050 graphics, and trying to decide between the glossy UHD+(4K) touch screen or the matte FHD+ non-touch screen. The Matte FHD+ will apparently give me maybe 2-4 hours longer battery life, so increasing the battery life depending on use from roughly 5-7 hours to maybe 9-10 hours. I work from home, and am online long hours 5-7 days a week, and frequently on and off evenings and weekends. I don't do gaming or video/music editing, just long hours of online work and streaming, though I do enjoy stored or youtube movies a lot too. I work indoors most of the time, but do go out and about mobile with the laptop a good bit. I have been torn, but after watching your video I'm now learning towards the FHD+ matte screen, for less high strain, less reflection/glare, and the longer battery life when needed. I'd welcome other thoughts if you or anyone wants to share.
I spend most of my time working on my Mac Pro Retina 13inch with high pixel density (2560*1500p). Trying to shop for an external monitor that wouldn't be much of a change for my eyes. Can one make up for the gloss vs matte finishing of the screen by, say, increasing pixel resolution? 1080p is definitely too low for my liking. thanks
We should meet up for coffee sometimes and compare screens....I can be in the UK in 12hrs NP. I think I'm a matte because I love to travel and for me a laptop means "enjoy the outdoors".
"We should meet up for coffee sometimes and compare screens....I can be in the UK in 12hrs NP." I can scarcely believe what I'm reading... You really expect her to just meet up with a random CZcams stranger who would take a 12 hour flight just for her, and who clearly has other intentions than to "compare screens"? you're either very naïve, creepy, lonely, or all of these.
My choice would be the cheapest with high refresh rate under 5ms, even if its a TN panel usually there are quite color accurate profiles. But if your work involves video/photo editing ips is necessary.
@@peaceout4132 glossy is harder to read in almost every setting, the reflection of light hitting the screen makes it hard to read or impossible to see at all, matt makes color contrasts easier on the eyes too and is visually superior in my opinion. I've just always preferred the look and functionality it's definitely more diverse than glossy
It would be great to see the comparison with same desktop wallpaper on both laptops. Show both black backrground, then both white background, etc.
IKR
That's what I was thinking
But you won't see the difference in the video, because you'll be seeing it through whichever monitor you have.

should have used the same wallpaper on both to make it a good visual comparison
All phone screens are glossy, get used outside all the time. Maybe if the screens were brighter, less reflections seen.
Glossy please!
I don't like matte displays at all. I like real glass like on my mac. Unfortunately not many glossy monitors out there.

Lenovo s740 15" with gtx1650 is one option. It has 500 nits glossy screen and is not that expensive either...

Which laptop in 2021 (or late 2020) can I buy with matte matrix?

Anything she wants...

Definitely a matte finished. I can never see anything on a glossy screen
Why? Glossy has better visibility for small text etc so it's easier to read.
