I'm really glad I caught this video. I've never heard of this song (or this musical), and it's really cool! I can totally see why Sondheim is envious he hadn't thought of it first. I have one small critique: you can definitely tell Guettel is a native New Yorker 🤣 most of my family still back in those hills and hollers, and they would have pronounced most of that lyric very differently. still, what a cool song!
