    @paulwoodcock2600 Před rokem

    I am trying setup a drip system on my one tank but have been advised not to change more than 5% a day about 30 ltrs a day as you can flush ammonia away rather than build up filter bacteria to remove it but am struggling to reduce the pressure enough to get anywhere near this ( instruction say only to reduce the input pressure to reduce flow and not with the 1/4 taps ?? )
    Do you run some to waste as 4ltrs per minute seems a lot more water than you are dripping into your tanks ?
    Many Thanks

    Hello, I keep Corydoras and I have a high KH tap water, is it worth me spending the extra money on a CBR2 charcoal filter. I have read that it removes the copper also, making it safer for Corydoras.

    • @loolieloft14
      @loolieloft14 Před 3 lety

      (I know the HMA filter won't change the KH!)

    • @fishmanc5357
      @fishmanc5357 Před 3 lety +1

      I think I'm right in saying KH is Calcium and Magnesium so a high KH wouldn't mean there is a lot of Copper in the water.
      I think you should test for Copper before taking action. But I do believe the HMA would remove copper and other heavy metals.
      If you wanted to reduce KH I think the only way is to use and RO system, but you would then have to remineralise your water.
      I'm lucky that my water is soft with low PH out the tap, my Cory's seem happy... but I wouldn't keep discus because it's too much hassle (at this stage in the hobby at least 😉)

    • @AquariumAdventures
      @AquariumAdventures  Před 3 lety +1

      A HMA will definitely remove copper, so might be worth it if you're having problems.

    • @loolieloft14
      @loolieloft14 Před 3 lety

      @@AquariumAdventures I have just read that the cheaper cartridges that come with the filter use a charcoal that is produced with burnt coconuts, the CBR2 cartridge uses coconut charcoal that has been cleaned with an acid. I just wanted to know if it was worth the extra for the CBR2 cartridge. Luke answered my question that I should test the water for copper, I just assumed I had copper in my water as my pipes are old! Hope this makes sense.

    I use a similar setup as a tap water filter, buy my cartridges online, it's cheeper. The description says carbon cartridges last for 4 weeks. Can you give me the name of the cartridges you buy? Maybe they are better than the cheep ones I buy.
