Another thing, "One of us is in love, it doesn't take a detective." Why is Peter saying only one of them? I think he knows he loves Steph, but after being bullied and isolated his whole life, he's unsure of if Steph truly loves him. This is backed up when Steph asks "What if you are wrong?" And he repeats it. They mean two different things- Steph is asking if it would be better for her to die instead, but Peter wonders if he could be wrong, that he isn't really what Steph treasures most. But when she asks, "What if I should go?" He immediately rejects the thought, determined to let Steph live. "If I really, really do love you, you'd have to say-" And he interrupts her, "I know."
