Today we are talking about why you might be getting a P0171 and or P0175 engine code. These are codes telling you that the engine is running rich. There is many reasons for this and just not related to a couple things. If your air filter is dirty could make the motor run rich, if you the Maf sensor is dirty this will give false readings and trick the Pcm into running rich. If you have a fuel regulator that is faulty this can make the motor run rich. Other variables can be faulty fuel injectors that are leaking fuel will cause a rich condition.

Very good information i noticed my lexus has been running a little off on idle occasionally not to much performance loss to where its noticeable but i can tell that the engine is not smooth or happy got a p0175 and p0172 i monitored my 02s and ignition timing also checked for misfires on my snapon scanner didn't notice anything concerning or off i have an extra set of oem maf sensors from another ls460 i had will look over my fuel lines n pressure regulators and inspect the intake n fuel in general air filters were changed not long ago so dont think my air filters are the problem

Have a 2018 Subaru Outback 3.6r and the above codes were set. Also, the abs light and Brake light was on. The Check engine light was on too.
The EYE Sight light was on too.
    Cleaned the mass airflow sensor.
All lights still on. Finally removed the battery plus and minus connections, cleaned them realty well and all lights went off , car back to normal.
    Quirky Subaru!!

My truck seems like the ignition is sticking and whatever is causing that to happen , it’s causing me to have rich bank one and 2 , when I turn the key on to start it it won’t start just sits and cranks when I turn the key back off real fast cause I don’t wanna destroy my starter., it’s still trying to crank , then I’ll turn the key back in and off again and it’ll strip , then in order to start it I give it a lil gas and it starts , and so far I’ve change the air flow max sensor the camshaft sensor the oil pressure sensor and put new plug wires and plugs on it I’ll check the oil filter turn out the oil filter but the air filter and it was good I wonder what’s causing this to run Ridge bank one and two in for my ignition to be sticking like it does

Hey just wanted to mention and again this is very positive corrective criticism but if you look at the size of your filter with the pre-screen or cover over it. Just looking right away I would imagine a rich code because I don't think you have enough are you can have the biggest intake pipe in the biggest throttle body xcetera but if that air filter is too small and or restricted its hundred percent going to be rich. Put a bigger k&n or whatever style filter you want I guarantee besides not being rich you'll see more power and more efficiency
